The plan has been set, and the Knights are on their way to New York City once again - this time with the desperate hope fueling them that they can save two of their own, instead of simply endangering them further.  Jack and Buffy have greater stakes in this than anyone - as it is Jack's fiancee, Gar and the love of Buffy's life, Rafael, who are currently in the grip of the vile villains that have plagued them for the last four years.  Knowing fully well the risks that are inherent in potentially facing down the dangerous Mind Master, who shattered Myri's life in an instant by breaking Finnick Odair's psyche, their plan is to divide and search the warehouse as quickly as possible - knowing that every second counts, when an alerted team of bad guys could take the lives of their captured friends.  

It's an unparalleled gamble, but may be their only opportunity before Rafael and/or Gar are moved from the facility.  To that end, they converge at a nearby hotel...

[Rose doesn't need to be told twice okay. As soon as she busts through the door she starts running at full speed from the warehouse and even heroically surges (3/5) to get as far from it as possible. All the while looking for anything that might provide halfway suitable cover when shit goes boom. (Spot 33).]

[Myri glances to Steve at her side, then looks at the rest of the group. Leaving Buffy, Spike, and Rose behind breaks her heart but she should be able to bring the others with her safely. And those three are he most resilient of those left so...]

I'll be back for the three of them. The rest of you need to get close. Now. [Diplomacy 35. There's no time for arguing okay. Steve, Felicity, Gar, Jack, and Kat should all be able to join her this spell.]

[Felicity doesn't resist and she doesn't argue, just does as she's told and steps back to get as close to Myri as she can. It could be seen as callous by others, but the logic of it makes sense. Buffy, Spike and Rose are stronger and faster than she is and trying to fight to do the noble stupid thing is only going to waste time for people to get out of there alive.

So she gets close and waits for Myri to do her thing.]

[Spike is also going to move as fast and far as he can, using another one of his heroic surges to go even further. He's very flammable, but he knows he can take a lot of damage. Much better to take everyone else.]

Oh, fuck this bullshit! [ kat's impotent rage explodes out in an angry cuss as she balls her fists and slams them against her sides, but she doesn't resist, sees the logic in it, as much as it pisses her off ]

[rationalizes]

[ gar's attention turns to jack, who she can see immediately struggling with myri's choice - as mission leader and as a dragon's claw, the idea of leaving anyone behind clearly goes against any and every instinct he has. her hand moves to his arm, fingers curling around it as she silently implores him to look at her. when he does, her words are much quieter than kat's impassioned outburst. ]

Jack. Please.

[ her words barely seem to sink in for him, as he turns his attention out to watch the others starting to run for it. gar's plea seems lost on him, but he at least doesn't budge while he's hesitating. ]

[witchwoman]

[Okay time to go byyyyye. She transports them outside- as far from the building and towards a safe exit as she can manage. Which I think is like close to 1k feet or something.]

[rationalizes]

[ yep, the lot of them vanish through myri's spell... and step out just in time to hear the explosion in the distance.

those left behind feel the hot rush of explosive heat behind them in a wave as they go booking it away from the building full speed. everyone needs to make a reflex save DC 20 to half the 64 dmg, which is both fire & force as debris comes raining down around them, creating a dangerous landscape for them to navigate as pieces of concrete whiz through the air.

gar stops and turns towards the sound, sees the explosive cloud rising in the distance and puts one hand to her mouth in aghast concern. ]

[The rush of heat sends Rose back to another time and place, the memory more than the pain that rocks through her now, what almost cripples her. (Ref Save 32.)

Staggered by the force she almost drops to one knee but some mad balance skills keep her moving forward as she keeps an eye out for falling debris. (Bal 25, Spot 32)]

[ Buffy fails the fuck out of that reflex save somehow (ref 17) because she stayed a minute too long, I guess, making sure that Rose and probably Spike got out ahead of her. Concrete cracks against her spine from behind and bowls over over onto her face while the rest of the warehouse starts to rain flaming debris down around them. Luckily, her fort save against the massive damage was 19, so she's still up with about 15 hp left and her ears ringing and blood staining her back.

She scrapes herself to her feet and searches the oppressive smoke from the blast for Rose and Spike while she slows to pick her way through the crumbling building more carefully. ]

[Spike's still worrying about everyone else, especially Rose who already blew up once this year, just enough that he zags when he should have zigged also fails the reflex save somehow (ref 18) and... crit fails his massive damage save which is literally the only way he could have failed that. He flies forward, crashing to the ground, unconscious.]

[Fear tells Rose to keep running; to get as far away as she can from the heat that licks at her skin. To keep her legs moving so that the memories that twist around in her head won't once again become her reality.

But that fear wars with instinct as pieces of debris crash down around her, the knowledge that Spike and Buffy are behind her making it difficult to give herself over to flight. Skidding to a halt as a chunk of concrete smashes the ground in front of her, Rose allows herself a moment to look for the others, the sight of Buffy covered in blood causing her heart to leap in her chest, but it's what she sees next that has her forgetting all about her own safety (Will Save Nat 20.)]

SPIKE! [As Spike falls to the ground, Rose shoves all sense of self-preservation aside (Sorry, Dean). She starts running towards Spike (declaring In Harms Way as she gets near - which will protect against ranged & melee attacks but alas, not area), dropping to her knees as she reaches him.]

Spike. [The potions in her pocket are about as much use to her now as the Holy Water, but that doesn't stop Rose for reaching for something. Drawing the stake from the holster on her hip, she hastily drags the point over the palm of her hand (IDEK if this is done as a normal attack against herself but sure why not: ATK 43 DMG 18) and holds her bleeding palm to Spike's lips, muttering under her breath the whole time;] Come on, come on, come on..

[shootfirst]

Do you think they're ok? [ kat wheels around on gar and jack in turn, eyes widening ] They have to be ok, right?

[bigbad]

[Spike swallows down as the blood enters his mouth and.... well Rose won't feel a pulse, but that's not unusual. He does open his eyes and resists the instincts screaming at him to tackle her to the ground and drain her dry. There's more blood in her, surely he'll feel better with all of it! But he's more than his instincts and Rose is his friend and that'd be poor thanks for saving his life. He pushes her arm away (will 22).]

Getting blown up isn't as fun as you made it seem, love. Think I'd rather not do that again.

[witchwoman]

[Myri can't answer Kat's question. She fears if she just sentenced those three to their doom. Swallowing hard, she steps away from the group.]

I'll be back as soon as I can.

[Annnd she's using spell 2/3 to teleport herself back inside.]

[Felicity waits until Myri disappears, but once she's gone, she'll answer Kat's question as best she knows how.]

I hope so.

[Her chest shudders with relief and the sob she manages to swallow. Rose's features relax for only as long as it takes for him to push her arm away and then her eyebrows knit together with the stern look she fixes on him.]

No. [Rose forcing her hand back towards his mouth. (Will Save 30. Yep.)] You need more.

[Trying to soften a little she adds.] The dying part wasn't either so let's not find out.

[bigbad]

[Tine, he'll take a bit more before he pushes her hand away again, struggling to stand. He's still looking more bruise than man, but he can move.]

I need more than you can give me and survive. And we need to get out of here. I'll be fine, love. [He gives her a soft look, smiling, then wincing as it aggravates one of his many injuries.] You saved me.

[slay]

[ It takes Buffy that long to get back to them, hobbling, and she leans against some of the fallen rubble to say. ]

Warm fuzzies can take place outside the rubble-in-progress, huh? [ She goes to help Rose haul Spike to his feet by lifting his arm on the other side. ] Come on.

[rationalizes]

[ myri lands inside a billowing dust cloud, and has to make a fort save dc 15 to not descend into a coughing fit. the heat surrounds her as flames lick at the wreckage. it's gonna be a dc 30 spot to see through the smoke and dust to where her friends are... ]

[witchwoman]

[A fort save of 28 keeps myri from giving in to the urge to choke on smoke and dust. She squints and sweeps her gaze across the scene until she catches sight of them (spot 35).]

Buffy! [She calls out as she hurries that way.] This way! I can get us all out of here!

[littledhampir]

[Remember that one time when Rose died because of explosions that happened after the big one? Yeah Rose does too and she offers Spike a skeptical look, determined to decide for herself if he's had enough to be safe for now.]

Uh huh... [So dry. While scrutinizing his injuries, Spike's last words cause her gaze to lift. A look that's almost unreadable stirring in her eyes as the concept of saving him or even, anyone sits strangely with her.

In typical Rose fashion however;] Lot of good that'll do if you go and kill yourself five seconds later.

[But there's a slight twitch of her lips, the beginning of what might have been a smile had Buffy not arrived then.

Shaking her head as if to dismiss the help.] You're not doing much better than him.

[Rose reaches into her pocket and pulls out the vials of cure moderate wounds potions to offer Buffy and then shifts to throw Spike over her shoulder help Spike up herself (strength 21), her own wounds visibly minor compared to theirs.]

Myri? [Looking back towards the rubble of the building they'd escaped from at the sound of her calling to them.]

[bigbad]

Glad you're okay too, love. [Spike rolls his eyes slightly, but lets the both girls help prop him up, trying to hold as much of his own weight as possible so that he doesn't worry Myri too much.]

Come on, then. Let's get out of here.

[ And Buffy is hobbling out with Spike and Rose towards Myri, pulling that vial open with her teeth and glugging it down all the while (+13 hp). Luckily, even without the potion, she looks to be healing at her usual steady, supernatural rate. ]
