EARTH-11 ♔ JUST ISN'T HOW I ENVISIONED IT

It's hard to notice right away. For the most part, everything looks normal. The toilets flush in the right direction. The sky's still up. The buildings are still scraping the clouds. But something about it feels wrong, and the details come in waves.

The first wave is that no one is in the castle, or in England, or even in Saudi. It's hard to tell where they are, except it's close to the equator. Warm. Sunny. And a city. Maybe they're lucky. Maybe someone's there to greet them, if not in this bed that isn't theirs, then in this apartment that isn't theirs, or this house.

But out in the streets, things get stranger. Gone are the gleaming glass and metal frames of the skyscrapers, replaced with statuesque marble shaped into hellenic curves. Everything is bright colors and bronze. The metal coins people trade for currency have a wolf's head stamped on them, valid only in the Republic of Midgard.

The world is wrong. And no one but those in the room with Loki and Jordan seem to remember why.


[ ooc note; WHILE THE SAUDI ARABIA MISSION wraps up their encounter with Loki, everyone is invited to play in the whackadoodle AU that Loki created by making Jordan grant his wish to rule a world full of all the things Loki desires, where Thor is nowhere to be found. Consider this your dystopian/framework/everyone's dead AU event. Please note that only mission characters will remember the events of Earth-11, as they've only been transported to a parallel universe. Everything you play is for fun, not for character arc. ]

[ caroline shrinks back into the shadows as the van approaches, not really hiding but not leaping onto the road to flag them down. her hand reaches out to grip davin's and he's just going to have to deal with it, they're holding hands. get over it. ]

[recycling]

[ he looks... surprised, but seems to understand that she needs the reassurance. he says between gritted teeth: ] Be ready for anything.

[highlyemotional]

Trust me, you're the only thing I trust right now.

[hacker]

[ the van veers off the road in their direction, rumbling to a stop. the process of putting it into park feels excruciating, waiting for whoever's inside to step out. but the doors fling open, and a pair of grunge-y looking ex-knights hop out. ]

Caroline, right? [ she looks at Davin, confused. ] Uh. Don't take this the wrong way, but ... [ who dis? ]

[highlyemotional]

He's with me, end of discussion.

[ in case there was going to be a discussion, there isn't now. ]

Who are you? [ SHE DOESN'T SPEND A LOT OF TIME IN THE COMPUTER LAB SORRY ]

[starprince]

We're the closest thing around here to the White Hats, I guess you could say.

[hacker]

Daisy. This is Peter. [ she nods her head up the road where they'd come from. ] You were at the castle?

[highlyemotional]

We were taking a romantic stroll through the English countryside. [ guess what, caroline can't lie to save her life. but STRANGER DANGER. although, admittedly, they both look vaguely familiar. ]

[recycling]

[ davin ... doesn't even try to lie, tensing up ] What do you want?

[hacker]

Easy, big guy. We're here to help.

[ is that patronizing? unclear. ]

Malina and Alex gave us your description. By the time my exploits got through to the castle security system, though, they were already gone. I thought we'd come provide vehicle service.

[ and do at least something right. she can't stay out of this fight completely. there's too much pain wrapped up in it. ]

[highlyemotional]

[ caroline squeezes davin's hand, reflexive, at the mention of malina and alex, but she doesn't leap into accepting any help from the pair yet. first of all they were with a bunch of other people. ]

Prove it.

[starprince]

One time Alex applied to be on a Dutch reality show that was gonna be on Mars.

[ a beat, as he clearly expects this to prove everything ] What?

[highlyemotional]

...maybe something about Malina because I don't care about Alex.

[ u tried ]

[hacker]

Malina's on her way with the rest of them to try to pull Thor out of the arena because she believes this world isn't real. That there's a better one waiting. One where Loki isn't the all-powerful overlord.

[ Daisy's sense of humor may not be completely gone, but her patience is thin enough right now that she's not fuxxin with it. ]

If it's true, I want to see it. She's probably going to need your help to make this crazy plan work.

[highlyemotional]

[ bristling with frustration: ] It is true! Look at me, do I look like I spend a lot of time in a garbage wasteland of that greasy haired loser's over-compensating fantasy dream land?

[ spoilers, she does not. she looks cute and pastel, if still mildly damp. ]

[recycling]

Caroline told me something similar. [ he looks warily between them ] You're serious about this?

[hacker]

I don't know about true. [ she says to davin with a shake of her head. her voice is quieter, calmer, like it's reserved for everyone but caroline who may or may not be insane still. ] But if there's a chance ...

[ she eyes caroline. ]

Did you learn anything at the castle? Anything you can use?

[highlyemotional]

I wasn't at the castle, itself. Jordan's stupid genie magic dropped me in the lake. But-- [ caroline sighs, deflating a bit. she'd gotten over davin not believing her because he'd come after her anyway and that meant he had faith in her, right? but now strangers are here to think she's insane and that's just. great. ]

He has ice... creatures. A bunch of the statues up the main driveway aren't statues, they're knights encased in ice. The rest come to life and try to kill you.

[recycling]

[ davin looks away Dramatically ] You can't be thinking about taking him head-on.

[hacker]

They're not going to. They think ... Thor is going to help somehow.

[highlyemotional]

Did Jane find him?

[starprince]

They're uh... working on that.

[hacker]

Finding him isn't the hard part. He's at the same place every day at high noon. Getting into the colosseum, though ...

[highlyemotional]

All of which is, no offence, irrelevant, because Loki has a genie at his disposal. Poof Thor is a poodle.

[ this is what caroline thinks is the Big Picture. ] We need to find Jordan and, I dunno, his lamp. God, I do sound insane.

Right, but we need the big guy for a distraction in the first place.
