A several year operation investigating a Consortium known as PTC run by a mysterious man - now revealed to be a ogre - named Estavan has led to the discovery that he made a a business deal with a trio of demons. To no one's surprise, that did not end well, and Estavan has asked the Knights for help in setting things right. Estavan has asked the Knights to head to his warehouse in London and keep the creatures busy while he goes to meet with the Consortium's Ruling Council to find a way to take care of them. While Phineas, the Doctor, Val'drin, and Alec stay behind to clean things up at Estavan's home, Cordelia and Kate phone for back-up to meet them downtown at the warehouse.

They meet up in the warehouse district of the city, outside the large building.  There are several empty trucks parked out in the lot, but otherwise, no visible lights on, and only one door set in the side of it, and a few closed heavy loading doors.

[ the flaming pallet smashes into the other one and cordelia lets out a screech. out of the pallet rises a figure with a horned head, bronze skin, and a rather displeased look upon his face, although that seems to have nothing to do with the fact that he's the source of the fire himself.

"I don't know who you are," he bellows, "and I don't care. But I'm not going to let you ruin our plans. Do you hear me? Prepare to burn!"

with that, the creature seems to turn into smoke, which drifts over towards them ]

[Well that's ... terrifying, but Kate tries to step up quickly to at least force the thing to be solid again. She looks at where she is on the forklift and gestures the rest of her team to move in closer.]

Everyone stay close.

[And she will then cast Create Ice to make an anchored plane of ice as a Hemisphere on the end of the forklift with a radius of 5 feet. It will last five minutes (50 turns). Fire can melt the ice, but if it goes that route it will create a great cloud of steamy fog that will last 10 minutes.]

[ cordelia's eyes grow wide as kate suddenly magically coats the end of the forklift in a sphere of ice ] I must have left that in my other forklift. What are we going to do??

[ the mist rises ... up and over the sphere, hovering right on top of it and then coalescing into the figure again who looks real friendly.

"You made a grave error coming here," it thunders, as below its feet the ice ball begins to steam, slowly melting away. "And for that, you die." that was an intimidate 29 which they need to will save against or be shaken (-2 on rolls) ]

[Kate just barely makes that will save (will save 30), but she grits her teeth and holds her ground. This would not be the first mission where she's been set on fire but she's hoping that it doesn't get added to the list.

It would just be a nice change of pace.

Still, she doesn't bother to dignify his threat with a response and simply launches an Ice Javelin at him instead (ranged touch attack nat 20 for 5 points of cold damage), and he needs to make a fort save for DC 15 or take a -1 enchantment penalty to attacks, AC, and reflex saves.

IT'S NOT A LOT OF DAMAGE but maybe the melting ice will ... screw things up somehow, she's winging it here.]

[astrid was so close but her will save was 24, sooo she's shaken. and would like to go home. maybe she'll just ... say that.]

What if nobody made a grave error and we all went our separate ways?

[ well he just barely made that fort save, as the ice javelin goes THROUGH HIS SHOULDER and starts hissing as it rapidly melts. still, he looks like that hurt like a SONUVABITCH, which seems... surprising.

he's so surprised that he's looking down at that when he abruptly gets fucking shot by topher. he looks up at the guy like HOW THE FUCK DARE YOU, which empowers cordy to yell: ]

Yeah, how do you like them apples?! [ and take her own shot (atk 23, dmg 5 which also strikes him.

he lets out an agonized and annoyed sound and then... dissipates into smoke again and floats away. ]

[ .... Are they safe? Did they win?

Kate watches the smoke dissipates, and she follows it with her eyes, readying an action for if he decides to become solid and tries to attack them again from another angle with her Excalibur.

She'd really be impressed if he's just running away after all of that, but she's not necessarily counting her blessings on that one.]

[IN COMPLETE SHOCK:]

I just shot that freaking fire guy and it actually did something.

Great, let's celebrate later, when we're all alive. Someone drive this thing anywhere but here.

[Kate will go to do just that, trying as best she can (drive 7 action point says 14), but it's probably not going to be the smoothest ride ever sorry guys. She'll look around she goes to see if she can pinpoint any other trouble/what the best direction to go is (spot 34).]

[ there's a few places she can see from here: one is a massive tower of crates stacked on another floating platform nearby. below, four more doors float in the open expanse. one has an "E" carved into the surface of the fine-grain wood, and the doorknob glows with a soft, golden light. another has graffiti scrawled upon the surface of the stained and pockmarked wood, the third has nothing carved into it, but the doorknob glows with a warm, welcoming light. the last door is pitch black and unadorned. the doorknob is shaped like a skull whose eye sockets glow with an evil fire.

quite a ways up, a humongous floating platform rests, the largest of any other within sight. ]

["E" probably leads to Estavan. Skull doorknob probably is related to the fiends, but without knowing for sure what's behind it she doesn't entirely feel comfortable opening a proverbial doorway to Hell.

She glances up at the floating platform above, and slowly starts to drive up, trying to see if there's a better look if she has some altitude. To the rest of her team:]

Keep an eye out - see if you can spot another on of the fiends heading in our direction.

Pretty sure the confidence high I've been riding since I scared the last one off is gonna fade out any minute, so...

[No more please... And he is so anxious since this has been THE WORST, he's... not being a very good looker. (spot 9...)]

Shouldn't we be going through one of these doors? I know we lost Ashley doing it once, buuuut...

I'm pretty sure the one with the E leads to Estavan which we're supposed to be keeping things away from, so I don't want to open that in case one decides to slip through with us. I'm also kind of certain that the evil looking glowing one goes to Hell, which I don't really want to open.

[Kate gives a small shrug.]

I don't know where the other two go, so I'm less inclined to open them until we figure that out.

[Topher just looks so shocked and unhappy by all of that.] WHY WOULD THEY JUST LEAVE A DOOR TO HELL IN A WAREHOUSE?

[His tone is sort of between "that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard" and "oh god but what if she's not wrong"]

He was working with fiends. I'd assume they'd want to be allowed easy access.

[She's just saying, it's a possibility.]

I'm voting for not taking the damned door, thanks. [ as kate drives them up beyond the edge of the huge floating platform, they can see the stacks of crates and barrels rising and falling like mountain peaks and canyon valleys, forming a hostile terrain. there's a sense of foreboding, as they look across them, and a listen check of 20+ catches a distant sound of chanting from within the crates ]
