Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

And what if she only made that choice because she thought it was the only one she had?

[uncease]

If that's the case, [It's not. But like...sure. If.] she knows now. But you can't assume what that means for her. Whatever her choice is, you need to respect it. I'm certain she knows how you feel. [hes not the king of subtle after all] The rest is up to her.

[selfsabotaging]

[ he slumps back in his chair, looking remorsefully back down at the pictures on the floor ] If she thinks I'm trapped here forever, she won't even consider it.

[uncease]

[Charming stands and moves to the nearest picture on the floor. He picks it up with one hand and puts the other hand on Phillip's shoulder.]

Maybe it's time to think about what you did to end up here. The only chance you have to ever leave is if you understand why it was wrong. And I know you don't think it was. But you've been here for years and I've yet to see you even try to see where Wynn was coming from. [Diplomacy 15. Trying so hard.]

[selfsabotaging]

[ he tenses a bit under david's hand, but very quietly, barely mumbled, he says: ] I understand why he was displeased. But what I did was...

Do you think anyone ever recognized the magnitude of it? However it turned out? No one else could have done that, and instead of utilizing that, he shoved me here.




I could have helped fixed it. I never meant to just leave it so.

[uncease]

Being able to do something and being able to understand that you shouldn't do it even though you can are very different things. Tell me- if you could go back- would you do it again?

[selfsabotaging]

That's an irrelevant question.

[uncease]

[selfsabotaging]

It's irrelevant because I know things now that I did not know then. You can't compare it with all those variables at play.

[uncease]

This isn't an experiment, Phillip. I'm curious what you've learned in your time here. If you believe the decision you made was worth all of this.

[selfsabotaging]

[ he literally just mumbles something to himself under his breath and picks up a book ]

[uncease]

[He rolls his eyes while Phillip is making a point not to look at him.]

I'll give you some time to think it over. Let me know if you want to talk.

[Trying to channel his inner Mik and find some remaining patience. But he'll bounce and close the door behind him. Time to go find Gar and make sure she's okay..]

[rationalizes]

[ well there's AUDIBLE CRYING from inside her room so there's that. the door is slightly cracked. ]

[uncease]

[He doesn't barge right in this time. Instead he knocks softly and nudges the door to open just a little more.]

Jeanne? It's David. I wanted to make sure you were alright. [Which she clearly isn't...]

[rationalizes]

[ she does a pretty swell job of rubbing a forearm across her face and putting herself together enough to say: ] David? D... do come in.

[uncease]

[He slips inside and shuts the door behind him.]

I'm really sorry about that. I should have warned him once you guys arrived.

[rationalizes]

He's not the only one who could have done with a warning.

[uncease]

[He missed like 90% of the conversation, so watch his super confused face.]

You didn't know he was here?

[rationalizes]

I didn't even know he was a Knight. He... he vanished, and I thought it was for personal reasons.

[uncease]

I'm sorry. [Even though he literally had no control over what she knew, he feels bad. Because that sounds like a complicated blow.] I talked to him. He's... Well, there's no other way to describe it. He's obsessed with you, Jeanne. And unless you feel a romantic connection for him as strongly as he does for you? I would steer clear, if I were you.

[rationalizes]

I never... I never meant to hurt him. He meant so much to me, you must understand. He was brilliant - the only person who understood me half the time, when it came to our work. But I didn't...

I didn't look at him like that way.

[uncease]

I had a feeling. [Also he doesn't blame you. That guy is crazy.]

I tried to get him to see that possibility, but I don't know how well it stuck.

[rationalizes]

That's my fault too. [ she tenses slightly, looking at the wall ] When he told me how he felt, I wasn't firm enough with him. I thought perhaps I owed him a chance - I didn't know how I felt. I'd never even considered it.

I think he took that all wrong.

[uncease]

Jeanne, none of this is your fault. What he feels isn't love. And if it is, it isn't towards you, but instead the idea of you.

[rationalizes]

I... I know. I know that. But I can't... I can't believe what he's done. I just keep thinking that if he had still trusted me then, that he might have confided it in me. That I could have stopped him.

He's brilliant, David. There's so much he could do for this world, and I promise you that it's not all bad.
