Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

I consider what the knights do to be basic human decency. [ protecting the downtrodden should be what everyone does, that should just be the way the world works. ]

Where I am from, people like me are born to protect humans from the threat of monsters they can't even see. Half mortal, half god, we were born to fight threats on both sides -- human and monstrous. We don't last very long usually, but we're naturally gifted at what we do. Might as well keep on what I was born to do.

I thought I mentioned that with the whole flower power thing, honestly. My mother is the goddess of Spring and queen of the Underworld. It's not a big deal, she's not a big deal.

Lately, it feels like no, not really. It's not like-- I've only met her once, we don't get brunch every third Wednesday.

It was seventeen years ago so I'm paraphrasing but it was basically: "hey, I'm your mysterious mom, by the way you're a demigod, that is why monsters are trying to kill you. I'm gonna bring you to the Roman legion so they can train you to not die. Peace out, kiddo, enjoy puberty, see you again never."

You had monsters trying to kill you as a child?

I don't remember that far back so I was always taking her word for it, but the rest of my life, yeah. Makes me seem super well adjusted, doesn't it?

What kind of monsters were these?

I punched a dragon in the face once? But it was the usual Greek and Roman mythical beasts, the ones in story books. Serpents, aeternae, giant ass ants, uh giant... giants, Stymphalian birds which make watching the Birds a thousand times scarier. A lot of it is blurry, my life, some of this I only know because of the memories the Malaak'a gave me.

What happened to your memories?

Oh, the veil. I'm not from here. [ but her family... is. it's giving her a headache, trying to sort out her own family. why else would zeus..? she huffs a sigh, melodramatically dropping her forearm over her eyes. ]

And how does that work, exactly? Last I heard, they don't have Greece in Faerun.

I'm not from Faerûn. [ wait. WHEN DID THIS WEIRD VEILNESS START TO HAPPEN? he's been here the whole time... maybe he just doesn't know. her arm slides to her forehead so she can peer at him. ]

People started coming through the veil from other worlds, not just Faerûn. Six years ago? Maybe Sehanine knew something like this was coming, decided to open doors to other worlds, get all the help she can get.

Other worlds? What does that mean, exactly?

I mean it used to be a direct line from there to here, but now it's many lines to here. Like, where I'm from mostly everything is pretty much the same except there's little to no magic or other species but there's loads of demigods and, you know, we're called demigods.

Gar could tell you more, she actually knows things. Has a functioning brain.

You know for a second I was gonna answer that literally and I think that says a lot. Smarts is just not my forte. [ she stifles a yawn behind her hand. ] I'm not trying to be dishonest now that we have actually had sex, but none of this makes sense to me. Any explanation I can come up with is gonna be shitty.

I guess it is not that much stranger than what already was happening. But it does seem strange that it should change.

I agree. And I think it probably contributed to all... this. [ the wave of her hand seems to indicated everything. ] Fuck if I know how.

Not every problem is meant to be solved. It seems you all have some more pressing ones at hand.

What if the answer to Hell and the Mind Master and Blade is tucked inside something else we haven't figured out yet? [ a puff of a sigh. ] I don't even know what I don't know.
