Rescuing Rafael could have gone much worse... And then did, when Rafael, desperate to feel alive and free again, got himself into a car accident. He came out of it alright, but injured, and they headed back on a plane after a whirlwind wedding had happened the same night between Dean and Rose, which Elena and the fiendish version of Sam had dropped in on - as well as Bobby Singer. After the madness of that night, Jack sent word back to them that if they had any family that they wished to keep safe, they could bring them back to Krozna. Rafael and Isabella insisted on picking up Giorgio, Nellethiel, and their children, Giulia and Pietro. Alainn picked up quite a bit of family as well - her adoptive parents and siblings from Ireland.   They return to Krozna together, where everyone can get acquainted and recover from the ordeal of their close calls in New Orleans before pressing forward.   There would be months for them to train, and the pace of life in Krozna to settle in, far from the chaos of the rest of the world.  

The date is now quickly approaching for the upcoming meeting at the "Darkhouse" where they hope to acquire more leads about the dagger that was used by Blade in the ritual to kill his father, Malaak'a.  

This log covers all social things for Failboat between the first social log and the Darkhouse (months worth of time skip).

WINTER

[ getting into nature is hard during the winter months, the ground around the monastery is hard and frosted, but vi still manages to coax some life from it and even gets to work building a ramshackle temple to her grandfather that would make dovan... maybe not proud of her handiwork but proud that she tried. (craft 16) the frigid snap in the air doesn't stop her from seeking out nature, she just suffers a little bit while she's in it. luckily she has that aasimar cold resistance.

holidays are marked, lucia's toys have always been handmade so nothing changes there and the residents of krozna get dolls of their likeness to put in the toddler's dollhouse, at least the ones that she has taken a shine to. it was difficult felting mikhail's somber expression but vi did her best. lucia is enamored with all of the half-elves that join them, staring wide-eyed at any features that resemble her own, and delighted to have her zia rafael back. ]

SPRING & SUMMER

[ spring is easier, life breathed back into vi in a very obvious way: the color comes back to her skin, the luster comes back to her hair, the weight that presses down on her throughout the winter months lifts and she seems to breathe easier. everything is easier when she is not being crushed by her birthright.

lucia insists on being a shepherdess like david taught her so vi finds herself doing absurd things like learning to shear a sheep from the natives (and then turning that wool into new dollies.) she is almost three, but vi has seemingly no qualms with continuing to teach her to sword fight -- admittedly still with a wooden sword -- and crafts a toddler sized dummy out of logs and vines for her daughter to practice with. the log dummy gets stabbed a lot.

her wedding anniversary in june passes with little fanfare and the next day passes with a lot of alcohol once the creamsicle girl is in bed. she doesn't want to bring anyone down so she inadvertently isolates herself to tell her daughter, again, the story of how her father died.

only a week later is lucia's third birthday and there are more felted dolls and animals and flower crowns to be had and felicity's birthday is full of new orleans booze because these girls know how to casually party.

[ sometime in winter, when things have settled a bit, vi approaches jack and mikhail when they are together in the kitchen, sat at one of the tables. ]

Just the two guys I was looking for.

[ mikhail glances at jack, his thumb tracing the side of the mug in his hand ] I'm seldom as popular as you for good news.

If it's any consolation, I don't think I've ever gone to Jack with good news either.

[ tho coming back from the concert not dead was a good thing? either way, vi perches on the bench, drawing her leg up to face them. ]

I've recently come into an inheritance from my grandfather and I was looking for some space to try it out without... blowing this place up.

I take it that seems to be a possibility, otherwise?

It's Zeus's lightning bolt. And he did not offer his beloved favorite granddaughter a manual for use.

I'm starting to think you're all drawing lots for who gets to try to say the most outrageous thing casually next.

That's honestly the tamest part of my interactions with my family.

I suppose it would be asking quite too much to expect a tutorial. Do you feel safe attempting to try it out yourself?

I can't exactly call him collect, you know? But I don't think he'd give me a weapon that could kill me on a test run.

[ her shoulders lift in an expansive shrug. ] Especially since I've been given explicit instructions to use it on Blade.

I mean, apparently it can maybe kill him, so I hope you're not asking for living test targets.

[graveflowers]

No, no. Just a place to work on my aim. [ and see if she...dies in the process. you know, it'd be good to know if it's a one and done thing. ]

I think it'd be a good idea to find somewhere quite isolated from the village and the compound. Perhaps above, in the mountains. Although an avalanche wouldn't be a pleasant evening surprise.

[Early in the morning on Lucia's birthday, the day before Felicity's, she slips in to Vi and Lucia's room, with a stuffed kitten tucked under one arm, glitter bow tied around it's neck. She makes her way over and nudges the sleeping girl gently with a smile.]

Hey, birthday buddy. I got something for you.

[ lucia sits up immediately, albeit slightly disoriented because she's still half asleep, elbowing vi in the stomach in her haste. zia lissie is here! ]

Birthday! It's my birthday!

[ why are children so loud. ]

[She laughs, and it's Lu's birthday. She's allowed to be as loud as she wants, sorry Mom.]

I brought you a new friend.

[She holds up the kitten for the little girl to take.]

[ A KITTEN FRIEND WHEN MOMMA SAYS SHE CANT HAVE A REAL KITTEN FRIEND! SHE HAS BEEN BLESSED THIS DAY. lucia hugged the stuffed animal to her chest and smooths her orange fingers over its little pink nose, reverent, as vi sits up on one elbow. ]

Does she have a name already?

I was going to leave that up to the birthday girl. I figured she would be better at it than I was.

[Otherwise it would get a terrible, ridiculous name.]

[ lucia pets the uni-kitty (she's already excited but imagine her excitement if she'd seen the lego movie 2) and screws up her face thoughtfully. names are very important, momma had taught her that. she's not allowed to say certain names. uni-kitty needs a name that is special but not secret. ]

What about sunshine? Or rainbow? Or... Iris. She's the goddess of rainbows.

[ "No, Momma." THINKING THINKING THINKING "Sky. Her name is Sky." ]

I think Sky is an excellent name. It suits her perfectly.

[And it's her uni-kitty, she can name it whatever she wants.]

[ "I love her." lucia clambers off the bed to go to her dollhouse and introduce sky to the rest of her dolls, vi is pretty sure one of those dolls is going to ride unikitty. ]

Auntie success, as always. [ vi scoots back to make room for felicity on the bed now that lu has vacated. ] I can't believe she's three.

Neither can I.

[She's getting so big, and even though she's been right there, she can't imagine how it happened so fast.]

She's growing up so fast.

It constantly weirds me out. Hopefully I continue to be everyone's cautionary tale.

[ vi loves her daughter more than anything in the world, but that doesn't mean she wants her growing up in this shit world without her father. ]
