[Jack can't help but find it terribly impolite to go knocking on Buffy's bedroom door, no matter what the hour, so instead she received a very brief text transmission on her phone that asked her to come drop by his office at some point during the afternoon, if it was convenient. It isn't as if he doesn't have enough paperwork to keep him in there awhile.

Of course, this all involves... finding his office.]

† If she goes searching on her own: Roll a d20. A roll of a 13 or above can locate the office. Particularly high rolls mean she finds it quickly and vice versa.

Oh. Right. [ There's a breathless pause, and then she looks up with concern again. All the questions. ALL OF THEM. ] You don't think this is really a test, do you? I mean, he totally didn't seem like the weird twelve labors of his squire kinda guy. Which, okay, granted, it might be hard to come off like that kind of guy at a party, but -- [ 8( Hrnngh. ]

I'm not sure. It's been a long time since he's had a squire. Dragon's Claws usually don't, since their whole deal is working alone. [She turns a curious gaze onto the other girl] You must be something special.

[ That curious gaze looks more like a creeper gaze currently from Buffy's end. So she's all leery and such. ]

That's what I keep hearing, but I'm really ... totally lacking of the specialness. Just plain old Buffy.

[ (UNSURE) BUT WYNN TOLD HER NOT TO TELL. She gulps a little, hesitating, then decides lying is her best option. For some reason. You can tell someone didn't pay attention in Knighthood oath class. ]

[Annnd they round the corner past the library] What made you join the Knights?

Wynn found me. [ Buffy preferred her nonspecific replies, thank you very much. Nosy bitch. As if Buffy wasn't equally nosy with everyone else. ] I didn't really have anywhere else, so I guess I just ... Here I am.

So you see it as your only option? [Her tone doesn't exactly sound judgmental, just ... analytic, almost overly so]

None taken. [She pulls up to a stop in front of a door] Right here.

Oh, good. Now I just get to hope that there's no dragon guarding his office that he's gonna make me get through before I'm allowed to even start my training. [ This is her sarcasm. Kind of. Seriously, ok, if this was a test that she failed she is not ruling out the possibility of more tests involving dragons. She looks back at Lis'sa. ] Thanks. [ And then moves to open the door ... ]

[She just smiles mysteriously, and then moves back down the hall the way she came.

Inside Jack's much, much, much more organized office with its friendly and inviting leather furniture smell and fish tank, he's behind the desk, looking over one piece of paper - the only piece in sight. He looks up and smiles.]

Ah, good afternoon. [He opens a drawer to slide the paper away and stands up to hold out a hand.]

Anyone ever tell you guys that you should maybe invest in a castle map? Like, big piles with signs that say "take one" stationed by every staircase. [ She crosses the room, glancing around the room and letting the door shut behind her. She doesn't really acknowledge the hand, just scrutinizing. ] Some scary looking girl had to help me find the place.

["Scary looking girl". Maybe it's time for another sensitivity training lesson for Buffy :( No wait, the other one hasn't happened yet. He'll learn.

He drops the hand when she... disregards it]

Part of being a Knight is the soul of exploration. [Is he making a joke? Hard to tell. Too British.] I'm glad you found it, however.

It's customary to meet when we're able to discuss protocols of the knighthood, and so I might answer questions you have thus far.

Or, in plain English, orientation. [ She gives a nod and fixes her gaze more decisively on him. ] Questions, questions ... Okay. When's the actual work start? I mean, the training, the getting ready to actually be able to help and do something.

Training should begin this week, and can progress at whatever pace you'd prefer. No one will hold you to a regimented schedule - you're expected to grow when and however much you'd prefer. We'll put all the tools to do so at your disposal. When Wynn assigns you to a mission in the field, you'll start to get a good idea of what skills you might wish to brush up on before your next assignment.

Wait, what? Can't there be some kind of mission pre-test so that I can find out what I suck at before I get my butt royally kicked for it in the field? I'm liking the find out my weaknesses, work on my weaknesses, then get assigned a mission plan.

[Amusement sparks in his eyes] I didn't mean we'll send you in entirely unprepared. I was simply speaking in the long term: our Knights constantly seek to improve their skills, and learn new ones, and your actions on missions will help you evaluate where your interests might lie.

You'll be granted weapons and equipment training before being expected to go anywhere, and when in the field, you'll be accompanied by other fully trained Knights, who will be responsible for assisting you whenever necessary.

... Oh! Well. Good. [ That actually sounds very reasonable. ] So, where do we start?
