[[ Towering above our heroes is the fifteen-story NOVA Record Headquarters, an L-shaped structure tipped with a winged roof, covered in reflective window linings that paint a portrait of the New Orleans skyline across its panels. Foot traffic streams in and out, a parade of Bluetooth wearing suits, women in nine-inch heels, and extravagantly dressed stars surrounded by guards and entourage members.

But the lavish exterior hides a dark secret or two, and the Knights have sworn to shine a light on all of them.

Why is a record company funding a church that supports Shadowkind slavery? What are the 'experiments' for which they're buying up Shadowkind DNA, and how does it relate to the mysterious behavioral-control chip found in the displacer beast released in the museum? And, of course, what do they want with Jade, and what do they know about the Lazarus Talisman's current location?

Answers are rarely straightforward on their journey, and it looks like another complication or two are on the way.... ]

Isn't that flattering to know. [he makes a small snorting noise before continuing on.] How much trouble can she really be, anyway? The blackmail sounded more cornered and afraid than actually spiteful.

She could be a thorn in our side, that's what. Even if they don't believe her, she'll probably hold on to the one strand of hope she has right now, and that's thinking she can hold something over our heads. [ the doors ding open onto the roof access level, and an intern immediately gestures to them to head up the steps.

"They're filming at the poolside, Mr. Finnick. Can I get you anything?" ]

[the doors open before he can get another word in, so he just shrugs in response before the intern is up in their business.]

Oh, I don't know. How many pretty girls are there at the poolside? I could definitely use a few of those.

[witchwoman]

[Myri finds an intern or production assistant or SOMEBODY to tell her where to go to find Finnick. She approaches with the distinct lack of the the pool crasher. She spots her teammates and strolls over, remembering her role here.]

I hope I didn't miss anything. [She glances at Dumage for the briefest second, but focuses more fawning over the star.]

There shouldn't be any more interruptions. I hope that silly girl didn't cast a Shadow on your big day.

[See what she did there? That was Myri's way to try to hint that she thinks Elena is Shadowkind, or at least from some place from beyond the Veil. She's one of them.]

[ it appears that dumage catches the pun at least, as evidenced by the extravagant eyeroll she casts off to the side, pretending to busy herself with her nails. SPOT CHECKS FOR Y'ALL. ]

[ Straight to Video - Mindless Self Indulgence

the intern just assures finnick that there are tons of models already up there. (er... dancers), and then hustles them all up the steps. they emerge onto the pool area, which is enclosed by a glass roof, and inset into the actual roof of the building. it's lit up with neon lights of all colors right now, and scantily clad women wearing brightly colored latex are practicing dance moves with a coach, as burt stands there watching them all and occasionally making commentary. for the moment, he doesn't appear to notice them. ]

[finnick got a 1, so it flew right the fuck over his head. OH WELL.]

Talk about perfect timing. [he flashes a grin at myri, but it's playful and not one of his dopey lovestruck faces. SHE IS JUST ANOTHER GIRL RIGHT NOW. as he takes in his surroundings, he makes a little heh noise to himself. the flashy extravagance of it all reminds him of home maybe that's why he missed myri's hinting; he was busy having ptsd. after having his ~moment~, he makes a casual stroll toward burt.]

You were looking for me?

[Spot: 12

Myri takes a good look at their surroundings, but man is there a lot going on. She trails behind like good little arm candy as Finnick approaches Burt. At least this part is easy for her. She knows to be seen and not heard.]

[starfucker]

[ NO ONE SEES WHATEVER IS GOING ON. NOT EVEN BURT. LA LA LA. FLASHY CROWD SCENE. Burt throws an arm around Finnick's shoulder and steers him towards where the cameras are setting up. ]

It's your first video shoot, F-dawg. [ he makes a face, and shakes a hand negatively ] Ok, scratch that nickname, instant fail. We're shooting for "Know My Name" today, so we just need you to do the dance moves you've been training with Pablo and mouth along. We've already cut the track from the studio recordings and added in all the bells and whistles. Think you can do that for me?

[nope. no one's seeing shit. finnick with trying to comprehend "f-dawg". wtf?? oh well at least burt is over that name within seconds. ANYWAY.]

Of course. [he smiles like it ain't no thang. it sure as hell better not be after he spent so long practicing!!] Just point me in the right direction.

[witchwoman]

[We will just say that Myri was too distracted watching Finnick walk over to Burt because... he's Finnick and he's distracting.

But as Burt describes what Finnick will be doing for the day, she does turn more towards the rest of the set and finally takes a better look around.]

[starfucker]

[ as burt steers finnick in the direction of the back-up dancers, giving him tips on facial expressions and pouting and lip-licking, Myri would see up through the glass roof, several dark shapes moving about up there... clearly members of thomas' team. most people down below aren't looking up, but if any of them chance to... ]

[witchwoman]

[She eventually does glance up and notices the shadows. Since Finnick is occupied, she swallows her prejudices and tries to discretely get Dumage's attention and to indicate that she should take a glance up as well. (if we call it a dex based discretion/slight of hand check, I rolled a 22).]

[postergirl]

[ a little TOO subtle apparently, as dumage's terrible spot check means she's busy staring at finnick shaking his butt or sth... ]

[witchwoman]

[God damnit, Dumage. Myri decides to go for less subtle and nudges her in the side.

She just hopes that everyone is too distracted by the shoot to bother worrying about a couple of pieces of arm candy.]

[postergirl]

Excuse you-- [ dumage gives her an annoyed glance but then sees that she's indicating something and looks up that way. under her breath she mutters: ] Bloody fools. I suppose we need to keep everyone down here distracted.

[witchwoman]

How [She mouths, trying to keep quiet for now. Myri's spent most of her life trying to stay out of sight. She's not really used to trying to get people to focus on her.

That's more of Dumage's bag.]

[ dumage considers for a moment, before a wicked glint comes into her eye. and then quick as lightning (25 sleight of hand), she slips the shoulders down on myri's dress to expose her top half right in the middle of the crowd.

it only takes a second for people to start reacting to that. ]

[Myri's reaction time is severely lacking (Dex check 6), so for a moment, she just stands there, dumbfounded. Her utter shock is allowing quite the eyeful.

Also her cheeks are flushing, but she's practically frozen in shock and humiliation.]

[ as someone lets out a low whistle, dumage casts a smug smirk over her shoulder, glancing casually up at the roof, where the other team of knights sneaks by unnoticed.

she looks unduly proud of herself. ] Nice work.

[SURPRISE FINNICK IS ALIVE. and attentive just like the rest of the room at the moment (but not to the shit going down on the ceiling). and he is offended for myri's sake. also damn gurl you fine. but because he is tactful, his only response to the whole thing is to shoot dumage a look.]

[Myri clumsily pulls her dress back up.]

I... [She looks helplessly back at Dumage before turning back to the group.] ...would do anything to be in the video. [She says, trying to bite back the humiliation and reluctance from her tone.]
