[ Yesterday, members of team failboat went to the bayou hideout of the mysterious woman known only as "the Mind Master", on some intel from the captured Olean Gilbert. What they discovered was a very bizarre woman, who played mind games with them, and seemed to evince little concern for their interference. Another man, whom may have been Chad Becksworth entered, and told her that "Decker" was finished stalling and all was in readiness... The two of them fled before the Knights could get much information from either of them, and set a hideous creature to attack them: which appeared to be the result of a Frankenstein-like scientific process that sewed a human woman together with a giant snake.

The next day, another team of Knights infiltrated NOVA HQ to hack into appointment records and discover the names of those intended to meet with Chad Becksworth. Just as they downloaded the list, the scheduled meeting attendees arrived: it seemed they were meeting today, and the Dragon's Claws insisted that the younger Knights retire to the hotel, where all will be able to monitor the meeting onscreen as they spy on it and broadcast video. Knights' allies (Des, Rafael, Elena) are invited to watch as well. ]

I saw a place that looked nice while I was out walking. We could try it. [He steps more fully into her room, glad, for once, that he doesn't have a pulse to give him away. He hasn't specifically said this is a date, but she has to have caught on. He isn't exactly hiding it, after all.]

Long as they take credit. [ she gives a shrug of acceptance and drops her hands to her sides, grabbing her billfold and jacket and heading past him out of the room. ]

Like I'd take you somewhere that cheap. [He grins as she passes him. Then he picks up his own coat and slings it over his shoulders.]

I can't be the only one who remembers that Chinese place in Chicago. [ haha funny anecdote of off-screen shenanigans. idk she probably showed up with no cash and they didn't have a card machine it's not that funny except ~inside jokes. oh and it was take-out. because she's dismissing his odd wording of ~taking her. ]

I've learned from your mistakes. [Doo doo doo walking to the elevator.] It's a sit-down place. Nice. I think you'll like it.

[slay]

Sit-down? [ her eyebrows raise. after a beat, she shrugs. ] Guess we gotta celebrate not dying by way of Mind Master somehow.

[bigbad]

Right. That's celebration-worthy. My head's still ringing from that blast she gave me.

[slay]

Your head's always ringing from something or another. [ she gives a little roll of her eyes, and her stomach gives a little growl. flustering, she looks down, then sheepishly over to spike. ] How far did you say this place was?

[bigbad]

Not far. [He gives her an amused look at her impatience.] Few blocks, but it's off the main street. Took some searching to find it. Best part? It's not local flavour.

[slay]

Wow. Something un-Cajun. It's almost like a miracle or something. And you're positive you didn't dream it up? [ beat. ] Do vampires dream?

[bigbad]

Of course we dream. But not about human food, usually. [He may have had a few dreams about humans as food, but that's different.]

[slay]

[ shrug ] You never know.

[bigbad]

[He grins and gestures down a side street.] Right this way, pet. Dreams come true.

she follows after him, glancing around and withholding judgment until she sees the place. ]

[It's right at the end of the street and FOR THE RECORD IT IS REALLY NICE. A sushi place, so really not local. One of those cute ones with the conveyor belt of food. Spike opens the door for her because he's a gentleman and THIS IS A DATE BUFFY PAY ATTENTION.]

We don't have to go here. [He just wants the date to be PERFECT maybe sushi was too risky. He should have gone for something more boring. White pasta. Toast.] I just thought it'd be something new.

[He smiles back, trying not to let his nervousness show as the hostess comes over to them and brings them to their table.] Have you had it before? You know, that you can remember.

Nope. Buuuuut, I am taking it as a good sign that I'm not instinctively opposed to the idea. [ she props her elbows on the table as they sit down, leaning her chin in her hands. maybe they should have invited myri. ]

[ their waiter brings them water and she starts to take a drink JUST IN TIME TO START CHOKING ON IT because that sounded a lot like he meant sex. she gives a couple sputtered coughs and then lowers the glass. ]
