The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ Turn he does, and quite hastily at that though his expression of startled surprise quickly turns into a laugh as he puts a hand over his racing heart. ]

Oh dear, gave me a bit of a scare there. I hope I wasn't bothering you?

[ The applause and compliment did indicate that the friendly stranger hadn't been too annoyed by his little concert, but it usually doesn't hurt to make sure. ]

Not at all, quite the opposite.

[He takes a step closer, still smiling. His eyes are rather enjoying what they're seeing and his other senses have no reason to complain either. He'll definitely make sure to remember that scent.]

Your voice is remarkable. Thank you for every word you sing in my presence. And very probably for every word you utter, too.

[ Robin would back away, feeling that Reynard had already been more than close enough, but he's prevented from doing so by the racks of clothing.

He's still smiling, but now also looking a touch incredulous. Is this guy for real? ]

You're very kind to say that. I'm Robin, nice to meet you.

[ He offers a hand to shake, partly hoping to halt Reynard's movement towards him. ]

Just being honest. Since we just pledged to honesty and all that.

[There is something just a tad thrilling about realizing that Robin wants to put more distance between them but can't, but Reynard decided to ignore that particular predatory instinct for now and just take the offered hand, indeed keeping his distance now.]

Robin Goodfellow, right? I remember. Interesting name. I'm Reynard, no last name.

[faeconman]

[ After a brief shake he lets go of Reynard's hand and finishes buttoning up his shirt while he speaks. ]

Right. Parents had an interesting sense of humor.

[ And there goes his first lie as one of the Knights.

Pledged to honesty indeed. ]

[His eyes watch Robin's fingers, but he's pretty subtle about it, quickly settling on his face again.]

Well, I'd have that too, if my last name was Goodfellow. Nice to meet you, Robin. Ready to face the world as a Sir?

Just trust me when I say there is not a single joke you could make that I haven't heard before.

[ He turns around briefly to grab the jacket that matches the trousers he chose and then his attention is back on Reynard. ]

I suppose I'm about as ready as I'll ever be.

[smugfox]

Sounds like a challenge. I'll have to try some time.

[Because challenges are just so tempting and he never saw much point in resisting temptation of any kind.]

Well, you certainly look more like a Sir than I ever will, so you seem ready to me.

[faeconman]

Can't wait.

[ Said in the dryest of dry tones. ]

You ought to fix your tie.

[ There's an implied, 'or I'll fix it for you' there. ]

I do?

[He hears that implication and it makes him smirk. Reaching for the tie he shrugs, fingers playing with the loose knot.]

Maybe my throat is enjoying some freedom.

[faeconman]

[ He does consider correcting the tie whether Reynard wants him to or not, but it would be rather rude and he's trying to be a good boy here. Would be a shame to start misbehaving so soon. Thus he merely shrugs and steps around Reynard to find a mirror to give himself a last look in to make sure everything is fitting right. ]

Understandable.

[ And really, a lot of people seem to think it looks better that way. ]

[smugfox]

[A mirror. Well, that is one way to go about things. Instead of following that example, Reynard just waits until Robin is done inspecting himself before addressing him once more.]

How do I look?

[He throws him a smile and even strikes a bit of a pose, clearly not serious about it.]

Aside from the tie.

[faeconman]

I think you don't really care all that much.

[ Have an appraising look. ]

And I don't reckon others will either.

[ Said with a half-smile and a look in his eyes that implies that it's probably meant to be more of a compliment than an insult. ]

[smugfox]

As long as you think I look good, I don't see any reason to care about what anyone else thinks.

[That grin is just a bit too wide and perhaps his eyes betray some kind of emotion, some promise, showing that the words hold something a bit more than just a joke.]

[faeconman]

Mhm, and I bet you'll take me places I've never been before too.

[ It's a little too much promise for Robin, hence the brush-off, though he softens the "blow" with a smile. Not Reynard's fault he's got issues after all. ]

But you look good all right.

[smugfox]

I wouldn't go that far, but at the very least I would introduce you to novel ways of travel.

[He winks at Robin and gives a nod, finally stepping back to lead the way to the door.]

After you then, tall, dark and handsome.
