The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Welp, boys, here's your first chance to be alone and manly together and meet your fellow male squires without... being in front of hundreds of people together. Small talk, get pretty, whatever you need to do. There are racks and racks of suits and tuxes in here, including many tailor fit to your size. :')

And hair gel. Lots of hair gel.]

[While it wasn't unheard for Reynard to dress up on occasion, he was far more comfortable in less elegant and, well - frankly, clean clothing. It wasn't really his style, but then, none of this really was.

But far be it from him to not try out something new on occasion! Like being a knight, for instant.

Alright, that was a bit more radically new than most things he tries.

Currently he sits in front of the mirror, dubiously eyeing a tub of hair gel and glancing at the mirror, wondering if anything could actually keep his hair down.

He's not very confident it's even worth the fight.]

[Dimitri is pulling a dark grey suit from the section of the rack meant for someone his size. His tall 6'7" frame isn't exactly meant for a suit off the rack, after all.

Expect him to be quiet unless someone wants to approach him.]

[If only she'd ever mastered the art of doing that one eyebrow arched thing, Rose would totally be doing that as she stared at the racks of dresses, her nose wrinkled in mild disdain as she started to look through them, discarding every one with a cursory glance.]

So if there's an attack... [What, there could be?] How the hell am I suppose do anything but waddle away like a drunk duck in this?

[Grabbing the only dress she'd spotted that didn't look too girly girl for her tastes, a very fitted black satin number that would come down to her knees.]

I guess I could always rip it...

[ Yep, he's at the party too, though he's not exactly dancing on any table tops. He just maintains a dignified stance at the "head" of the room, and while sometimes various Knights approach him to share a word or two, he seems to generate a sort of invisible force field that keeps people from lingering too close for too long. o__o Whatever, he'll want to talk to you guys anyways, I'm sure. if you dare.]

[At some point in time during the festivities, Tybalt finds his way over near Wynn. Invisible force field or not, the curious cat doesn't like to miss many opportunities to approach Wynn. He can't help but be interested in the leader of the Knights. Some sort of pull toward heads of authority from a time he doesn't remember.

A need to prove himself.

Who can say?

Yes, Wynn was intimidating, but he also commanded a lot of respect and Tybalt intended to at least give a greeting.]

Good evening [How does one address the leader of the knights, anyhow? Sir? M'lord? Certainly not Wynn. Tybalt decides to forgo names entirely and just bow his head slightly in acknowledgement. Look Wynn. Ty is behaving himself. He hasn't even started any fights, yet]

[Reynard spots Wynn and feels that he isn't exactly welcoming small-talk, which contrary to its intended effect just makes him want to approach. He really does have a contrary nature. Besides, this time the man doesn't have his sword out. It made talking to him seem safer.]

[There might be proper ways of addressing Wynn, but Reynard doesn't know them. Nor does he care all that much.]

[Look, it's really obvious that Lila and Wynn had a deep, emotional connection with their witty banter and mutual line facing. Its out of that serious connection that Lila doesn't inflict herself on him at first chance.

Not at all that he's basically the omnipotent, possibly capricious lord and master of the big to do. Whatever, eventually she wanders over to him like a little lamb.]

You said it wasn't yours. Do you get weekend visitation rights and every other holiday?

[She means the sword, of course.]

Rose Hathaway - Open

[With a Cha check of 15 (16 for you men) Rose manages to scrub up pretty nicely, even if she does almost roll an ankle trying to grab a flute of champagne from a passing waiter. Yeah? You try wearing heels alright?! She's not the most comfortable in these sort of settings but she's attempting to look like this isn't the worst thing in the world as her eyes move over the crowd.]

[One of the many bonuses of mostly being a fox are the reflexes and it's those that help Reynard to reach out in time to catch Rose by the hand when she stumbles.

He laughs, but it's not a mocking laugh, much more friendly and only with a hint of teasing as he smiles at her.]

Shouldn't that wait until after you had a bit to drink?

[ it's a little later in the evening that she's approached by a smartly dressed dark elf, dark gray skinned with short white hair and pointed ears. he has two flutes of champagne in hand and proffers one to her with a small, charming smile. ] So that the lady needn't risk life and limb for a second.

[This if the first batch of squires that Faye has really seen any true competition for Hottest Bitch. But when she notices the misstep, she moves in like a lioness looking for the kill.]

You know, champagne's not for everyone. You might want to stick to water tonight.

[Her voice drips with false sweetness and she doesn't even bother trying to hide her amusement.]

[Elena's nearby, grabbing a flute from the same tray, her eyes going a little wide as the girl slips a little, then catches herself.]

[She says it quietly, trying not to make a big deal about it, since she's clearly trying to play it off.]

[He says it as he wanders over casually, having been out of range to actually help her at the time.]

I don't know how you ladies manage to walk in those things at all.

[Someone knows how to dress up. Pro-tip it's Lila. (Disguise 22.) She walks better in high heels than without. And oh hey, is that champagne, don't mind if she does. So little Lila with her condescending mismatched eyes will just be judging everyone from... over there. By some painting she's not interested in, getting generally more annoyed by the beads of condensation dampening her thin cotton gloves. That was a bad choice actually, but she didn't want her hands to get all sweaty from leather gloves and now they're damp and -- Lila is sullen again, wiping her hands on her dress, which does nothing but leave streaks of wetness on the skirt.

Even sullen, she looks completely comfortable all dressed up like a doll and in the middle of a party. Well, completely comfortable except for tugging at her amulet necklace tucked under her dress. They're probably worthless here, but she hasn't taken them off yet and the chain is rubbing roughly against her throat, which is decidedly uncomfortable.]

[ Said as a comment on her little glove problem as he regards her with mild amusement and some appreciation.

He might be pretty far off the market, but he still enjoys beauty in all forms. Besides, she was there, he's a little bored and it seemed like an all right way to strike up a conversation. ]

[ careening through the crowd in a whirl, with a beer mug raised high and a wide smile on his face is a figure who is all straggly black hair and scruffy beard, defiantly running counter to the dress code in a very beat up, tattered, black leather coat. he's laughing wildly as if he just heard the best joke ever, and skids to a stop in front of lila. his grin reveals teeth that seem almost a tiny tad TOO sharp to the eye of someone with a spot check 15 or higher. a spot of 10 reveals something intensely unusual about his eyes: for all the roughness of his appearance, they're an appallingly attractive shade of phosphorescent blue, much too bright to be normal. his greeting is entirely enthusiastic as he reaches out for one of her gloved hands ]

And you must be Miss Lila. Lovely girl!

[Violet is more comfortable in armor and jeans, but she doesn't look like a complete hot mess. (Disguise 11.) She just looks very under dressed in comparison to most people. Considering how she's already fallen once today though, why would she risk face-planting again by even contemplating wearing high heels? So her well worn, duct taped pink converse are what she sticks to, making her look more like a teenager suffering from borderline starvation than an adult currently mainlining the snack table. Mmm, canapes.]

[Well, no one can say she isn't a bright spot in the party. The green actually hurts Tybalt's eye. But even prickly felines get hungry, so he is at the snack table as well, keeping her on his right, despite his better judgement. He prefers to keep the people around him in his line of sight. More difficult than it sounds when he has only the one eye to watch everyone with.

He takes a few fish-looking horderves, not giving half a damn if he is furthering a stereotype with that. The new squires have no idea he is a shifter, anyway.

He managed a bit more dress-appropriate look, somehow. One of his better days, even if he did forget to shave and fix his hair.

And master of the art of conversation that he is, what he manages is a temporary pause of a glance and a nod.]

[ After finding a dress she doesn't object too much to (she says to avoid mentioning that she always has a hard time resisting gold)Amrita joins the party with some trepidation. She's not entirely unfamiliar with fancy dress occasions but they do tend to require an amount of social delicacy she just... doesn't have. She really doesn't want to mess this up so she has found herself a corner where she's hoping not to get noticed by anyone important. ]

[Tybalt is far from well-acquainted with fancy dress. He prefers to wear things that are comfortable, easy to fight in and not too constricting. He likely only came to this party for the drinks. There are free drinks here, right? and he didn't really intend to stay for long. He had given the new squires a precursory glance at the ceremony and now he was only here to get a better idea of what they were like. He hardly expected to be making any friends, though he did, on occasion, make attempts at being friendly. Was it his fault if people thought he came off as overconfident and rough around the edges?

Well. Probably, yes. As it is, he had sequestered himself to the same corner, and while he was hardly important, he did notice Amrita. Ever the trained gentleman he attempts some social delicacy of his own. Charisma 6. Spoilers, it isn't happening..]

That looks like it is difficult to move in.

[He doesn't manage to push a smile forward, one brow arched as he makes some misguided attempt at polite conversation]

[In the end he has decided against hair gel, because he's already feeling like he's dressing up as someone else just by wearing this suit.

Not that he can't pull it off well enough, it's not as if he's lacking in acting skills. He doesn't feel awkward, he just knows he's out of place.

Still, he doesn't look half bad all things considered.

He's smiling as he scans the room, looking for whoever will catch his attention and maybe even for whoever will manage to keep it for a longer while.]

[ he'd feel a sudden jab in the side, and upon looking down would discover a little red-bearded dwarf dressed mostly in his armor still from the ceremony, looking at him with twinkling eyes ] Congratulations, laddie. Are ye ready for all this?

[ Robin has a talent for seeming very comfortable in environments where is is in fact very uncomfortable. A necessary skill for a man who does not in fact feel at ease anywhere, really.

So he's looking pretty good and seems to be at ease with the situation, giving off a vibe that he'd be easy to approach and pleasant to talk to.

Which is actually pretty true, whatever else might be going on in his head. ]

[Tybalt is neither approachable or generally easy to talk to. Most days he fails to manage even a fair pass at being conversational, ending up in duels and a clash of opinions. It's not entirely intentional, he just has issues. It's not recommendable to be such a prideful squire, especially one who has so many preconceived notions of other people's opinions of him.

Still. He does try now and then to be slightly more... well... human. Being a standoffish cat all the time is not recommended.

So if he approaches Robin, it is because he feels as if this particular squire is a bit less-likely to clash with his prickly attitude than the other options available for conversation. And he had promised to try and play nice with the other squires. Which was precisely why he was uncomfortably unarmed at this party.]

I suppose congratulations are in order.

[Dimitri's disguise check of 9 has him at least dressed for the occasion, though his pants might be an inch shorter than necessary. Feel free to blame it on the fact that's he's ridiculously tall.

He's also wandering around the party with a drink in his hand that he's been holding since he arrived and has barely sipped from, and trying not to feel out of place at this kind of an event.

Spoilers: he basically always sticks out at this kind of thing, being a head taller and sternly antisocial. Feel free to bother him anyway, he doesn't bite.]

[Lila is very good at this, or she could be if she were less of a... well, brat comes to mind. In any case, she's a phenomenal actress, so even when she's being anti-social she can push herself to act like her father's daughter. She sidles up to the huge man as if it hasn't even crossed her mind that he's actually a good foot and change taller than her and probably outweighs her at least twice.]

[For once, Spike's put some actual effort into his appearance. I wouldn't go so far as to say "black-tie," but he's sharpened his cheekbones dyed his hair freshly, put on an actual shirt (under his omnipresent duster), and has some rings and a chain necklace to complete the look. He looks good.

And as usual, he can be found hovering near the alcohol.]
