The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

As a newly sworn defender of all weaknesses I believe it's my duty to be aware of such things.

[Flattery Sir will clearly get you everywhere, even if it's just the amusement of a naturally flirtatious and quick-tongued Dhampir.]

I was even considering starting a support group. [Eyes narrowing playfully.] Now is that something you'd consider joining?

Only if you'll actually be attending the meetings, rather than merely being the subject of them.

So you'd recommend exposure as a form of therapy then?

[She pulls in a breath through her teeth, as if to show how doubtful she is that it would work.]

I don't know see, things have a habit of getting so worked up in my presence that terrible things can happen. [Straight faced.] I saw it once with a hermit crab and a hampster... it wasn't pretty.

[It started as a joke and yet as those words pass her lips, something shifts in her expression, a recollection of something that had in fact happened but she merely laughs softly and shakes it off, filing it away for later.]

Sounds perfect dreadful. But I assure you I have more fortitude than your average hamster.

Well, if you're really sure. Just don't say I didn't warn you. [With a soft chuckle, she drops it and actually bothers with little things like, introductions.] I'm Rose. [Offering her hand.]

Val'drin Cabot. [ he takes that hand and brings it to his lips in a particularly smooth display ] Charmed.

[Her eyebrows raise but she doesn't flinch or jerk her hand away, an amused, almost smirk dancing on her lips.]

I'm sure. [Lips twitching.] So exactly how many hands have you kissed tonight?

Yours is the first, dear. My lips are quite discriminating.

Oh, well. Then I do feel special. Well done Cabot. You totally brought your A-game.

I personally believe it's a waste to have any other kind.

[littledhampir]

[Rose simply smiles in a way that suggests she's considering her next words, choosing the direction to take this.]

So what comes next? I mean you've brought me a drink, made me feel like I'm the only woman in the whole room. You've even stolen your first kiss. [Her tone light and teasing.] Do I get any hints or do you plan to surprise me?

Perhaps I was merely being ... welcoming.

[Rose's grin widens, eyes lowering as she shakes her head a little. That was exactly the kind of thing she would have said and she's quietly impressed that he'd helped her walk right into it.]

Well as far as welcomes go... Your's is definitely my favorite so far.

[cabot]

[ he seems pleased with her reaction, and watches her smile with a growing one of his own. ] The night is still young. I'm sure you have many more disappointing welcomes in front of you that can only improve my standing.

[littledhampir]

[Oh Val'drin. If you only knew...]

I'm... [Soft laughter interrupting her words as she nodded, a smile lighting up her whole face.] Sure that I do.

[Rose inclines her head, as if to say goodbye.] It was, very nice meeting you Val'drin.

Not as nice, I imagine, as meeting you. [ smirk ] Perhaps we can do it again sometime.
