The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ Yep, he's at the party too, though he's not exactly dancing on any table tops. He just maintains a dignified stance at the "head" of the room, and while sometimes various Knights approach him to share a word or two, he seems to generate a sort of invisible force field that keeps people from lingering too close for too long. o__o Whatever, he'll want to talk to you guys anyways, I'm sure. if you dare.]

[If only she'd ever mastered the art of doing that one eyebrow arched thing, Rose would totally be doing that as she stared at the racks of dresses, her nose wrinkled in mild disdain as she started to look through them, discarding every one with a cursory glance.]

So if there's an attack... [What, there could be?] How the hell am I suppose do anything but waddle away like a drunk duck in this?

[Grabbing the only dress she'd spotted that didn't look too girly girl for her tastes, a very fitted black satin number that would come down to her knees.]

I guess I could always rip it...

[ Muttered as she too is looking through the dresses to find something that she won't embarrass herself in. ]

[With a Cha check of 15 (16 for you men) Rose manages to scrub up pretty nicely, even if she does almost roll an ankle trying to grab a flute of champagne from a passing waiter. Yeah? You try wearing heels alright?! She's not the most comfortable in these sort of settings but she's attempting to look like this isn't the worst thing in the world as her eyes move over the crowd.]

Except we can use our heels as weapons... [She says like she's going to wear heels, ahah, no.]

And all the guys get, theoretically, is dress shoes. Which, I guess if you're Nikita Khrushchev could still work for you, but I didn't see the late secretary walking around, so I think we one up the guys in that sense.

[Silver lining, people, Violet, flopped over a chaise and braiding her hair, has found it.]

[While it wasn't unheard for Reynard to dress up on occasion, he was far more comfortable in less elegant and, well - frankly, clean clothing. It wasn't really his style, but then, none of this really was.

But far be it from him to not try out something new on occasion! Like being a knight, for instant.

Alright, that was a bit more radically new than most things he tries.

Currently he sits in front of the mirror, dubiously eyeing a tub of hair gel and glancing at the mirror, wondering if anything could actually keep his hair down.

He's not very confident it's even worth the fight.]

[Someone knows how to dress up. Pro-tip it's Lila. (Disguise 22.) She walks better in high heels than without. And oh hey, is that champagne, don't mind if she does. So little Lila with her condescending mismatched eyes will just be judging everyone from... over there. By some painting she's not interested in, getting generally more annoyed by the beads of condensation dampening her thin cotton gloves. That was a bad choice actually, but she didn't want her hands to get all sweaty from leather gloves and now they're damp and -- Lila is sullen again, wiping her hands on her dress, which does nothing but leave streaks of wetness on the skirt.

Even sullen, she looks completely comfortable all dressed up like a doll and in the middle of a party. Well, completely comfortable except for tugging at her amulet necklace tucked under her dress. They're probably worthless here, but she hasn't taken them off yet and the chain is rubbing roughly against her throat, which is decidedly uncomfortable.]

[Indignant now. It's dangerous when somebody agrees with her. Bad things happen. Partners in crime levels of bad.]

And you know the guys won't have to spend ages getting dressed. I bet you their suits all look the same and they won't be expected to do hair and make-up.

[ Suits, now that Robin can do. Goodbye ceremonial armor, hello clothes that don't make him feel as if he's in a broadway production of Camelot.

Should not have had that thought, it inevitably means humming as he picks out his outfit. ]

[Violet is more comfortable in armor and jeans, but she doesn't look like a complete hot mess. (Disguise 11.) She just looks very under dressed in comparison to most people. Considering how she's already fallen once today though, why would she risk face-planting again by even contemplating wearing high heels? So her well worn, duct taped pink converse are what she sticks to, making her look more like a teenager suffering from borderline starvation than an adult currently mainlining the snack table. Mmm, canapes.]

[ No, she is not speaking from experience but come on, it's just simple logic. Do not piss a woman who can hang from a pole only supported by the muscles in her thighs off. Especially not when she's wearing heels you could push right through say, a foot. ]

And they'll still look great because it's a well established fact that a suit will make anyone look at least twice as good as they usually do.

[ Why do no such miracle dresses exist that will have the same enhancing effect on every single person who puts them on? She would really like to know. ]

[ After finding a dress she doesn't object too much to (she says to avoid mentioning that she always has a hard time resisting gold)Amrita joins the party with some trepidation. She's not entirely unfamiliar with fancy dress occasions but they do tend to require an amount of social delicacy she just... doesn't have. She really doesn't want to mess this up so she has found herself a corner where she's hoping not to get noticed by anyone important. ]

[In the end he has decided against hair gel, because he's already feeling like he's dressing up as someone else just by wearing this suit.

Not that he can't pull it off well enough, it's not as if he's lacking in acting skills. He doesn't feel awkward, he just knows he's out of place.

Still, he doesn't look half bad all things considered.

He's smiling as he scans the room, looking for whoever will catch his attention and maybe even for whoever will manage to keep it for a longer while.]

[ Robin has a talent for seeming very comfortable in environments where is is in fact very uncomfortable. A necessary skill for a man who does not in fact feel at ease anywhere, really.

So he's looking pretty good and seems to be at ease with the situation, giving off a vibe that he'd be easy to approach and pleasant to talk to.

Which is actually pretty true, whatever else might be going on in his head. ]

[Well, that voice is infinitely more intriguing than his hair gel dilemma, so Reynard puts the tub down and gets up, approaching the owner of said voice from behind silently, so he won't keep him from singing more.

An inspiring voice, that. Very beautiful, very engaging, very conductive to making one think of what other sounds the singer could produce. Or maybe Reynard was just feeling like celebrating in a less official and more carnal way.]

[ Robin's mind is certainly not working in carnal ways at the moment, and he is also not noticing that he's attracted anyone's attention. He's just focused on buttoning his shirt, and yes, still singing quietly to himself. ]

[Rose doesn't intimidate easily but Wynn? He's really not somebody she's keen to be on the wrong side of.]

[ Usually Amrita regards those words as guidelines, and if they are in accordance with her own personal beliefs when it comes to what can't/shouldn't be/wouldn't be done, making her budge is about as simple as lifting an elephant.

It is however also true that if one pushes the right buttons there are certain directions in wich she will budge quite easily.

[Tybalt is far from well-acquainted with fancy dress. He prefers to wear things that are comfortable, easy to fight in and not too constricting. He likely only came to this party for the drinks. There are free drinks here, right? and he didn't really intend to stay for long. He had given the new squires a precursory glance at the ceremony and now he was only here to get a better idea of what they were like. He hardly expected to be making any friends, though he did, on occasion, make attempts at being friendly. Was it his fault if people thought he came off as overconfident and rough around the edges?

Well. Probably, yes. As it is, he had sequestered himself to the same corner, and while he was hardly important, he did notice Amrita. Ever the trained gentleman he attempts some social delicacy of his own. Charisma 6. Spoilers, it isn't happening..]

That looks like it is difficult to move in.

[He doesn't manage to push a smile forward, one brow arched as he makes some misguided attempt at polite conversation]

[Well, no one can say she isn't a bright spot in the party. The green actually hurts Tybalt's eye. But even prickly felines get hungry, so he is at the snack table as well, keeping her on his right, despite his better judgement. He prefers to keep the people around him in his line of sight. More difficult than it sounds when he has only the one eye to watch everyone with.

He takes a few fish-looking horderves, not giving half a damn if he is furthering a stereotype with that. The new squires have no idea he is a shifter, anyway.

He managed a bit more dress-appropriate look, somehow. One of his better days, even if he did forget to shave and fix his hair.

And master of the art of conversation that he is, what he manages is a temporary pause of a glance and a nod.]
