The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Well, there was the whole giant ominous sword really close to my neck part, but, alas earwax, the only sharp things I've gotten to play with yet are the dinner knives. [Serious sad face, okay. This is epically distressing shit right there. But she is pleased the food is good, like she had something to do with it. She'll take all the credit for it right now.]

So. Are you new too? Obviously not super new or I would already recognize your shoes from my supremely graceful swan dive.

I was part of last month's new recruits. If it makes you feel any better, the other two that were in my group spent the whole walk up to Wynn bickering with each other.

[It was super embarrassing to him, okay. In that... dad watching two kids fight kind of way.]

Yeah, I dunno how that compares to my glorious feat of gymnastic inability, but it does kind of make me feel better. As long as I'm not the only tool in the shed.

I think it's safe to say we've got a whole hardware store around here. [He laughs, because when you're making light fun of everyone, it isn't really that mean, right? Right???]

[Snort, that is a horrible joke. Violet loves it. Do carry on.] You're fun.

Thanks. [No really. That just gets the biggest, most genuine smile from him. Like a puppy, this one.]

Between you and Prince Charming, I'm just rolling in the friendly dude department. I am calling this night a success. Which probably deserves a toast.

[Annnnd, that waiter is just going to get snagged and dragged over so Vi can grab a pair of glasses before shooing him away. She holds one out to David.] To our awesomeness.

[There's a question in his expression, but she's already got a glass and is waiting on him, so he takes the offered beverage and clinks the glass against hers.]

I'll drink to that.

[AND HE DOES.]

So... who's Prince Charming? [Because that's his last name, so that's weird, right?]

[He damn well better drink, that is a drink deserving toast.

She winces slightly at his question.] He's not really called Prince Charming, I mean, I dunno, maybe he dated Cinderella, that could be a thing. Anyway, before I drive headfirst into a tangent, Aurelius? [She gestures in his general direction, over... there.] He's sort of rocking the dapper, sweet, I piss chivalry thing you've got going on. I'm sure there is a noble steed involved.

[uncease]

Huh. [David looks in that general direction, but doesn't really get a good idea of who she's talking about.] I guess I just ask because... well, that's my name.

Minus the prince part. David Charming- it's the only thing I remembered when I showed up here.

That is an awesome name. [She's serious, that's super cool.] Charming. And you're actually charming. Oh, I'll have to make up a new nickname for Aurelius. Charming, that's great.

...Do you have a noble steed?

[uncease]

[He laughs and shakes his head.] I had a car. It ... didn't make the trip. [Also it was attacked by a demon car. Whoops.]

Poor deceased noble steed. I'm sorry for your loss.

[He holds up his now partially empty glass.] A toast of remembrance for our fallen heroes.

[He's clearly hamming it up, but he did like that car, okay.]

Nos morituri te salutamus. [Yeah, she speaks Latin. 'cause we got a bad ass over here. She raises her glass as well, but don't worry, she'll translate with a smile.] We who are about to die salute you.

[Charming sure... doesn't speak Latin, but he looks pretty impressed by that.]

A little morbid, don't you think?

Oh Charming. Considering we're toasting a dead car, I don't think it's physically possible to delve into morbid territory. I mean. Unless your car was Optimus Prime, in which case it would be like toasting an actual fallen brother.

[uncease]

I guess you're right. [He chuckles to himself.]

It wasn't even that great of a car. I hear they have pretty nice ones here, though.

Yeah? ...wanna check 'em out?

[He thinks it over for all of two seconds.]

Sure! Grab some appetizers for the road?

[He's only half kidding.]

[Wow. Cars and food. This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship and Violet Fiore appreciates the crap out of David Charming.

And she's just gonna grab a plate and load it up. 'cause she is serious about her food.]

[He just laughs and gestures to the door so they can bail on the party and go check out some mother fuckin cars.]

Oh such manners! I feel like a princess! [She goes right out that door, and then pauses.] A lost princess. I don't actually know where the garage is...

[...Neither does Charming, apparently because his navigation check was only 7... He looks left, then right, then left again.]

[Vi's nav check was 5, so Charming's still one upped her. She squints in the direction he picked and shrugs.]
