The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

We can't all be perfect. [But who is she talking about the Dragon's Claw or the Beatle? Much like the licks of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know.]

[Lifting a hand, she twirls a hank of hair between her fingers, shrugging like in concession.] Unless your idea of perfection is imperfection.

Just don't let our stuffy exterior convince you we're all that way.

I haven't. Seems like every family. [Of course, she means crime family, but it could be assumed she meant a normal, non-criminal, non-dysfunctional nuclear family. But what would be the fun in that?]

There's the straight-laced old school guys that still go for the classic cons, no deviation. Then there's the next generation, the guys with balls, creativity, the ones who take the original cons and make fifty seven variations of the same ones. [She flashes a grin.] That's where I would put you, I think. [Definitely a compliment by Lila's standards.]

Then there's the next generation, they're mostly brawn, no brains because the first two generations are still kicking. And then there's the new guys. They've got the old cons, the new cons, plus technology, street smarts, and the history of every failure behind them.

[bancroft]

[ a sharp, pleased laugh issues from the man and he looks at her shrewdly ] How very astute of you. And such interesting choice of words...

[bittersweeter]

[She lifts her chin a little, shrugs, but she's pleased. It's like she's doing well on a test she didn't know she was taking.] Yeah, balls is a little risqué for casual conversation.

Oh not at all. I was referring to 'cons'.

[bittersweeter]

Oh? [Well, she just walked right into that one, so she's just going to roll with it like it isn't a big deal.]

Not a word most people apply to heroic endeavours.

Not all cons are villainous.
