The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I'm not overly fond of wasting time, Mr. Belikov, so I'll simply say that I'm here at your disposal if you have any questions regarding the Knighthood. It's also my job to evaluate your readiness.

[He nods.]

We will have that in common at least. [He doesn't like wasting time, nor does he like sitting idle/relaxing.] And I'll be sure to do that.

I'm Lis'sa, by the way. [ there's something of a soft lisp to the way she slurs her s's, that sounds distinctly like a hiss ] I run the Dragon's Hoard, our science and research division.

[He's aware that she knew his name already, and Wynn had already told him hers, but there was nothing wrong with polite introductions.]

That's a very impressive position. What kinds of things are you researching at the moment?

You, actually.

[One of his eyebrows rose curiously.]

Me?

[A beat.]

Have I taken you away from your normal duties?

[lissatrinall]

Not you, singular. Your kind. Until recently, we'd never met anyone who came from worlds that weren't recognizably Faerun.

It's a fascinating phenomena.

Because we're not true Shadowkind?

[He's guessing a bit here. He's heard the terms, and has been trying to comprehend it all.]

I certainly feel like I arrived from some kind of parallel universe as opposed to an entirely different world.

Precisely. The implications are somewhat far-reaching.

It's not something I've heard much specifics on, I'm afraid. Though I can imagine it makes it even more difficult to predict the kind of beings that can and will make their way here.

[He pauses, considering a question.]

Do you have any information about the memory loss associated with my kind?

[lissatrinall]

It's somewhat cheekily referred to as the "Gift of Lethe". A reference to the mythological river whose waters are supposed to incite forgetfulness.

Scientifically, however, we still have a surprisingly limited understanding of the phenomena. There seems to be no damage done to the brain itself, but even powerful telepaths are unable to locate hidden or repressed memories. They seem, for all intents and purposes, to be washed away as if they were never there in the first place.

It sounds almost as if the Veil takes them as payment during the crossing.

[As if memories were mere belongings, once stolen couldn't be returned.]

Perhaps it is a blessing in disguise, especially if returning is impossible. It's hard to miss what cannot be remembered.

So they say. But it's frustrating for researchers, who are forced to paint a picture of other worlds from half-memories and artifacts.

[likeagod]

Well, I would be willing to help in any way I can, though as I said my memory isn't what one would consider great.

[Oh, but.]

I did bring a special kind of weapon with me when I arrived, if you'd like to look at it as well.

[lissatrinall]

[ you have her attention, d ] Special?

[likeagod]

It's a stake, made entirely of silver. If my fragmented memory is correct, then it has been enchanted with several different elements, magic from my world. It gave the weapon the ability to kill the undead creatures my kind fought there.

[He pauses, as if trying to recall that was harder than it should have been.]

My kind are not magically inclined, so I can't be sure if the enchantments carried over, or if magic from my world is even compatible here.

[lissatrinall]

Well, there's one sure way to find out.

[likeagod]

[He nods.]

It's in my room. I can bring it to you whenever you'd like.

[lissatrinall]

Are undead particularly sensitive to elemental magicks, in your world? What about holy power?

[likeagod]

A Strigoi can only be killed in one of two ways; complete immolation, or a silver stake enchanted with the four elements. Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. There is also a fifth element, Spirit, with special properties. A stake enchanted with all five has the ability to bring the Strigoi back to life.

[Strange, that he has the facts, but none of the memories associated with them.]

I take it that means you don't have any clerics in your world. Those who channel the divine.

The divine? [He shakes his head.] No, I cannot say that we do. Not that I'm aware of, anyway.
