[sometimes it all feels like a dream. it's not perfect, of course, there's still mutts and weird mind control shit apparently, but it's never as bad as it was in the arena. back in panem, when finnick was treated more like an object than a person. a nice, desirable object, but still an object. even though his pop star life here is superficially similar, it's not that bad. it could never be that bad. here he has a girl he's crazy over and friends who are actually friends. and he knows katniss and haymitch are safe too, even if he never sees them. but it still doesn't stop him from thinking that one day he'll wake up and everything will be gone.

anyway. on this day he was s-so lucky to take the path outside the castle that led to the pool building. (ok not really lucky because he probably asked someone and then they told him.)

it's not the ocean, but the pool is nice. it gives him a chance to clear his mind of all the reflection mentioned above. do some laps, roll around in the water like a cat if cats liked water. lounge by the side of the pool and think deep thoughts about life. all that stuff.]

[ tia comes out of the showers in her suit and this is the only picture i can find of her wearing one. she's tying her hair up and she stops in surprise for a moment when she sees finnick lolling in the water, before resuming her steps toward the board ] Nice to see this place getting some more use.

Is it not used very often? [he drifts toward her end of the pool.]

Far less than it should be. I suppose other people get their physical activity in the training room.

That's boring. You're bound to get more than enough of that kind of activity outside the castle.

Not as much as I imagined I would. But I'd still rather be here.

Why do I get the feeling you don't mean 'here' as in the pool?

I don't know, because I really did mean in the pool. [ inside he is like (unsure) screams wtf ... ]

No, not at all. Feel free. It's not like I own the pool. [she meant the castle, right? yeah, probably. he tries to let it go but a very small part of him is still like wtf.]

You seem kind of a natural in the water.

I should, I grew up around it. I spent most of my childhood on boats, you know. Maybe even learned to swim before I learned to walk.

[Soooo apparently Vi has attractive-dude-dar without even trying like it's some special skill. Which you know... probably never has it's uses but hey, you take what you can get.

Which is probably why she's wound up at the pool, because she's skinny to anorexic proportions, she will never be caught dead in a bathing suit, but her navigational skills -- they're seriously pathetic. And water is... nice, probably. Yeah, it's probably nice. She'll put her feet in.

Sharks do. And piranhas. Orcas, they're biters, although, I guess, any toothed whale could fit the bill.

[All of which are not currently in the pool.] I've seen Jaws, it wasn't pretty.

[his knowledge check for jaws was dismal, so he assumes she's just ... literally talking about the jaws of the aforementioned animals. and moves on.]

Lucky thing the only thing in the pool is me. And last I checked, I don't bite. [cheeky grin] Much.

Cute. See the thing with having half a memory is that if I jumped in the possibly of my messy, flailing death by drowning is 50/50 and that's kinda shitty compared to the 100% fatal drowning free odds I've got by hanging out right here.
