Yeah. Melted cheese on bread, real revolutionary. [ she's rolling her eyes because wow you're brain damaged. but she grabs one of the plates and then ... realizes there are two of them. her brow furrows. ]

What does it look like? [He sits on the desk again and starts eating one of the slices.]

Mostly? Like you want to get hit. [ warily, she reaches out to snag a slice. ]

You did say I could talk to you now if I brought you food.

Funny. I remember saying it was dependent on what you brought. [ she's taking a bite regardless. ok, so admittedly, it's good pizza. but she doesn't want to talk to him. talking to him is uncomfortable. he reads her too well, gets under her skin too easily, it's an overall unpleasant endeavor. ]

You seem to be enjoying it. [He takes a bite of his own slice smirking at her as he chews and swallows.] You know you can't avoid me forever.

Pretty sure in polite circles, they call that stalking. [ but she can only be pretty sure, because emma doesn't really frequent polite circles. ]

Pretty sure you know about as much about polite circles as I do.

[ yeah she's not touching that. in fact, she's setting down her food and straightening up. he's got to have some kind of agenda to be here at all. ]

[He looks her over thoughtfully.] You really don't know, do you? [He shakes his head.] Well, I'm certainly not going to tell you.

And you wonder why I don't trust you.

[ did you notice she waited until he was eating to eat? yeah. that bad. but she'll go back to it now. ]

[WOW EMMA HE WOULDN'T HAVE POISONED YOU.]

You're not wrong. [ emma doesn't look too guilty about it, though. a part of her is - she believes what he said about not leaving her. he meant it. that doesn't mean she needs to feel guilty about not offering the same faith to him. she has a lot more reasons not to than he does, she figures. ]

[He smiles and leans forward, looking straight in her eyes.]

I want to spend time with you.

[Not gonna make a bluff check cause he's telling the truuuth.]

[ her sense motive check means she believes he's telling the truth. unfortunately for him, believing that he means what he's saying and believing that he won't hurt her are two different things. ]

It ever occur to you that it takes two people to spend time? Maybe I don't want to.

You said it, not me. [ but she doesn't mean right now - she means "i'm the worst human there is." ]

[ she just watches him for a moment, then gives a thin smile that makes it clear: she's not here to sate his curiosity, and he's not getting an answer.

which is for the best, really. because the fact is, it's nothing to do with him that she doesn't want to, and everything to do with her. ]

[He stares back at her for a moment, then bites into the pizza again.]
