Unfortuntely, it's been rather difficult for them to reproduce our homelands in this heavily civilized world, but it is not without its wilderness realms.

They're just tiny and full of litter.

[ a wry look ] There is that.

In Rome we have this temple. It's pretty big, all marble and columns. And right in the middle is a tiny patch of grass, 'bout a foot by a foot. [Tiniest sigh, she misses home.] Anyway, that's how I picture the world. Tiny patch of grass in the middle of... everything.

It seems a rather pessimistic outlook, to consider it not only precious, but so outnumbered.

I'd like to hope mankind can learn from their mistakes, in time, perhaps with assistance from other races.

It probably is. Maybe I just don't have enough faith in humanity, because I am one. Or, maybe, I've only had twenty five years to be proven wrong and you've had... way more.

I wouldn't be so quick to say I've been proven wrong, yet.

Okay. Your less pessimistic views on humans probably gives them, us, an upper hand in the benefit of the doubt department at least.

I suppose. I imagine there are some things that only time will tell.

Maybe I'll work on that optimism things. I've heard great things about it. They're probably lies.

Is it a history of bad experiences that's left you so jaded?

[graveflowers]

I wouldn't doubt it. [She shrugs, worrying the edge of her tee shirt between her fingers.] There's probably a reason, I just don't remember it. I figure some bad shit happened, 'cause I-- [One hand pressed protectively to her abdomen, her scar seems like tangible proof.] Everyone has bad things in their life, I just get to forget mine.

Amin hiraetha. [ there's sympathy in his tone, and the words sound kind, at least. his eyes follow her hand, but then lift to her face again politely ] Perhaps you've forgotten so that you may find some peace here.

[Her hand falls and she makes a face. Well, that was dumb.]

It's not what you're thinking. Or what I think you're thinking 'cause that was really awkward and Bella Swanish so I can assume what you're thinking and that's not it, so don't think that, if you're thinking that. If not, carry on, it's just a shark bite.

[ omg vi y so cute ] I hadn't made any assumptions.

Well. Good. 'cause shark bite might actually be the answer. And not other stuff that you weren't thinking.

An accident, or were you fighting the beast?

[Hooking her thumbs against the edge of her tee shirt, she flips it up a little so Luthir can take a gander at her admittedly awesome scar that does look a lot like a shark grabbed her and clamped down. Propriety, what is that?]

Don't remember, haven't decided. What's your vote?

[ he tries not to stare, ok ] ... It doesn't look like teeth marks, to me.

[Sorry?] Yeah? What's it look like then?

[She lets go and smooths her shirt back down.]

The scarring looks patterned, perhaps a heavy scrape against something bearing the mark.

Ah, my dear Watson. But that scar is on both the front and the back. Hence the snapping jaws of a shark theory. Or I was, impaled? Which, kudos for awesome.

[luthir]

I suppose you're right. I'll admit that I might have been mistaken. [ he doesn't sound very convinced that he was wrong tho :| ]

[Scoff.] Mhmm. You know, you sound pretty sure. I mean, for someone who has seen it once. From, just, way over there.

I spend a lot of my time dealing with monsters. I know how to spot a creature bite from quite a distance.
