Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Buffy's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Hide members - the largest sect in the castle, with the most representatives here, and Jack, Wynn, and Dovan wait up at the front of the room for Buffy to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides.

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir Buffy Summers."

Then by the power of my office, I grant thee the title of Full Knight of the Dragon's Hide! [ He moves to pat the back of Buffy's shoulder ] Rise and take your place up here, lass.

[ buffy's smile spread into a grin, and she glanced up at the other dragon's hide members, then back at her friends. this is heartwarming. ]

[romanticidal]

[ rafael looks hellaciously hot (19) in case there was any doubt on the subject. and he's totally dressed up for this in a black suit and tie and dress shirt. it's a lot of black. THEMATIC.

anyways, he waits until a lot of other people have said their piece to her until she's alone in the crowd for a moment, before finding his way up and gently brushing her arm. ]

[shootfirst]

[ someone bumps a hip against her at one point, and holds out two arms widely. that someone is kat, with gar right behind her. ] Heyyyy, look at this big shot over here!

[dragonsclaw]

[ jack steps up at one point, to give her a little bow ] I know I've already said my piece, but it seems one more 'congratulations' can't hurt.

Buffy! [as he sees her, he goes in for a one-armed man hug.] Congratulations. I didn't have time to get you a card, I'm afraid.

[slay]

[ buffy's head whips around at the touch on her arm, but she relaxes when she sees it's rafael. warmth enters her expression and she smiles. ]

Glad you could make it.

[slay]

[ there's an eep and she makes use of slayer reflexes to keep the liquid in her cup, straightening up and looking over at kat. she grins. ]

You know, I never thought I'd be saying this, but being one of the big kids? Weird feeling.

[slay]

You better not think you're gettin' off that easy.

[ she sets her drink aside and throws her arms around his shoulders in a hug. she drops her voice. ]

Lucky for you, I accept hugs in place of greeting card currency. [ she slips one arm around him in return, patting his shoulder. ] Thanks for making it.

[romanticidal]

I would not have missed it for the world, carina. [ he places a hand on her waist and gives her a brief kiss on the cheek ] This is... where you call home?

I know right? Now you've gotta be all responsible and stuff. Pretty terrifying.

Hey! I had it on good authority the Dragon's Hide just involved hitting stuff a lot.

[ awwww. he gives her a warm fatherly hug ok ] I should be the one thanking you for your patience.

[ she hides a flush and mutes her smile, glancing away as she tries to collect herself, then glances back at him. ]

Sorta. I mean, I've got a room here. It's supposedly mine. But ... we spend more time in hotel rooms.

I'm not sure anxiety explosion freak-out in your face qualifies patience.

It's no trouble. I'd hate to miss a teammate's knighting ceremony. It feels like we've been working together for ages, doesn't it?

Gonna be coming up on a year soon. Goes by quick, though.

[ oh wait that's everyone else. finnick was more recent. she does some math. ]

Split up, I guess. I mean, at this point, I'm starting to wonder if it's ever gonna be. But ... Wynn would put us where he could use us. Which wouldn't necessarily be together.

Mm. [ that gets a smile and a nod; the noise itself is humoring because he probably gets it way better than she does. ] I've only been doing this a year and I can say I might actually be getting sick of having my pillows fluffed.
