Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Buffy's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Hide members - the largest sect in the castle, with the most representatives here, and Jack, Wynn, and Dovan wait up at the front of the room for Buffy to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides.

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir Buffy Summers."

[ buffy's hovering awkwardly with a drink held in front of her in both hands, smiling at those who stick around to party. come congratulate her, assholes. ]

[ rafael looks hellaciously hot (19) in case there was any doubt on the subject. and he's totally dressed up for this in a black suit and tie and dress shirt. it's a lot of black. THEMATIC.

anyways, he waits until a lot of other people have said their piece to her until she's alone in the crowd for a moment, before finding his way up and gently brushing her arm. ]

[ buffy's head whips around at the touch on her arm, but she relaxes when she sees it's rafael. warmth enters her expression and she smiles. ]

Glad you could make it.

[romanticidal]

I would not have missed it for the world, carina. [ he places a hand on her waist and gives her a brief kiss on the cheek ] This is... where you call home?

[slay]

[ she hides a flush and mutes her smile, glancing away as she tries to collect herself, then glances back at him. ]

Sorta. I mean, I've got a room here. It's supposedly mine. But ... we spend more time in hotel rooms.

[shootfirst]

[ someone bumps a hip against her at one point, and holds out two arms widely. that someone is kat, with gar right behind her. ] Heyyyy, look at this big shot over here!

[slay]

[ there's an eep and she makes use of slayer reflexes to keep the liquid in her cup, straightening up and looking over at kat. she grins. ]

You know, I never thought I'd be saying this, but being one of the big kids? Weird feeling.

[shootfirst]

I know right? Now you've gotta be all responsible and stuff. Pretty terrifying.

Hey! I had it on good authority the Dragon's Hide just involved hitting stuff a lot.

[dragonsclaw]

[ jack steps up at one point, to give her a little bow ] I know I've already said my piece, but it seems one more 'congratulations' can't hurt.

[slay]

You better not think you're gettin' off that easy.

[ she sets her drink aside and throws her arms around his shoulders in a hug. she drops her voice. ]

Buffy! [as he sees her, he goes in for a one-armed man hug.] Congratulations. I didn't have time to get you a card, I'm afraid.

Lucky for you, I accept hugs in place of greeting card currency. [ she slips one arm around him in return, patting his shoulder. ] Thanks for making it.

It's no trouble. I'd hate to miss a teammate's knighting ceremony. It feels like we've been working together for ages, doesn't it?

Gonna be coming up on a year soon. Goes by quick, though.

[ oh wait that's everyone else. finnick was more recent. she does some math. ]

[Once Buffy is alone for a minute, Elena quickly walks over, a drink in her hand.]

So popular tonight. [Teasing.] I was wondering when I was going to get to congratulate you.

[And she gets a hug, of course.]

[ buffy returns the hug, smiling when she pulls back from it. ]

Thanks for waiting for the chance. I didn't think so many people would actually show. I mean, I know I invited them, I just - [ she glances around, sheepish and flattered. ]

[Elena's all smiles, too.]

They all wanted to be here. You deserve it.

Somehow hearing that means more now that I've got it than it did all the times people said it before the promotion.

[Better late than never, right? Other than my failure as an RPer, Myri is also more of the type to hang back and not butt in. But she's all smiles and proud-sorta-daughter-y during the whole ordeal. She finds an opening when most of the others are talking amongst themselves and she slips over to Buffy.]

You did so well. [She lunges forward and hugs Buffy tightly, careful about any drinks in nearby hands, but still squeezing the heck out of the girl.]

I got you something. [Okay so she's bad at surprises/reveals. Instead she holds out a box that contains a charm bracelet with a few charms already attached - a small sword and a heart with an amethyst stone.] I thought it might be nice to find things to remember our missions together. [And that big silent stretch is her way of not saying "whenever they separate our team and we can't be together anymore."]

[slay]

[ the hug gets her off guard, but she happily returns it. when myri pulls back, she does the same. ]

Myri ... You didn't have to do this. [ she smiles, visibly touched, and as she takes the bracelet, hugs myri again. ] Thank you. And, I hope we have plenty more before I need to go with fond recollection.

I know I didn't have to. I wanted to. [She has a lot of feelings, okay. All the hugs are welcome.] I'm hoping Wynn won't split us up, but... in case he does, I wanted you to have something to think of me. I may even try to see if I can put some healing magic into it... just in case you get into trouble when I'm not around.
