The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ she sees that look. and grants him a wry smirk. ] Not much gets past you, huh. [ a shrug and she looks across the room to where a holy symbol rests on a table. she holds up her palm, and stares at it for a long moment... it starts to wiggle in place on the table and she looks to be expending a great deal of mental effort... but then it clatters to the floor and she lets out a breath looking frustrated. ] Something's... not right about it. I've been trying to get the hang of it.

This world is different from either of ours. Perhaps it will take some time to attune yourself here, just as it will take time for us to acclimate ourselves to the culture and ... technology.

[He seemed a little unsure of that word, since it was somewhat new to him. But he was fairly certain he had used it right in this particular instance.]

I'm not used to anyone being so open about their gifts outside of those they trust, and desperate situations. Are mages very common where you come from?

We're not mages. Like I said - something else entirely. And it's not that we were common, we just... never hid what we were, I guess. I don't really feel compelled to keep it a secret, but it's kind of embarrassing to spread around when I can't even control it anymore.

I'm sure that yours aren't the only abilities to have been affected by passing through the Veil.

Possibly. Though that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Where I'm from there are certain creatures--monstrosities, really. They bring death by their mere presence, and every so often their numbers swell to the point of threatening entire continents at a time. The fact that I've been unable to sense them here means there's a good chance that they don't exist at all in this world.

Though on the other hand, it could be that I'm experiencing something similar to what you have been--which would be bad, and is why I prefer to assume it's the former scenario.

It's a little more complicated than that, actually. In a nutshell, yes. Sensing darkspawn is just one of my many talents.

Hard to say. It's almost like instinct. It helps if I concentrate, but there's always this ... something gnawing at the back of my mind.

Are there many capable of the same where you're from? Or do you not remember?

I remember there not being a lot of us. The Force affects everybody, but not everyone's sensitive to it.

I know you say you're not a mage, but where I come from we have magic users who call themselves Force Mages. Come to think of it, their powers aren't entirely dissimilar to what you displayed here.

I've spent enough time in Ferelden's Circle of Magi to know a thing or two.

Can you... tell me about them? [ she sounds a little vulnerable as she asks, as if she hates herself for having to rely on someone else for the information, but can't pass up the opportunity to try and find out more about herself ]

It's said that they're actually one of the more powerful branches of magic users. From what I understand, they harness raw energies to throw, or crush their enemies using their mind. A single Force Mage could toss a group of Templars in full armor around as though they weighed nothing, for example.

Their numbers were few within Ferelden's Circle. I've heard rumors that they had much greater numbers in surrounding territories, but then that doesn't exactly matter here, does it?

Did. [ a frown forms on her features and she pulls out of the medical room slowly ] I don't suppose you have any clue how they did it.
