chicago ♔ give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough

♬ blood - my chemical romance
WHO || Rose, Dimitri, Amrita, Lila, Aurelius, Tia, and Eric [closed]
WHAT || Investigating the crime scenes
WHERE || The alleys of Chicago, IL
WHEN || April 5th [ backdated ]
HOW || Actionspam
The Knights split up, Tia taking Rose, Dimitri, and Amrita in the rented vehicle towards two of the more distant sites from the hotel, while Eric leads Aurelius and Lila through the back alleys of the city to somewhere nearby. It's late by now, and Chicago is alive with the sights and sounds of nighttime in the distance. A light rain falls, dripping off the overhangs of the roofs above and pooling against the sidewalks.

[And leaving their little symbol at the sites is practically an invitation. Lila continues calmly though that hint of excitement is still there.]
Of course, that someone should probably have experience in that field. If they're the big player in town and all, you can't just send in someone that doesn't know the etiquette. [Diplomacy 29, she is just actively trying to sell this idea. She can build on the basics later.]

[He raises the drink and his eyebrows, flashing a wink at Lila.]
I can be very convincing when I want to be.

These guys don't clown around, and they hate hunters.

The shadowkind that have been turning up dead. Did they work for The Corsone Syndicate?
[Rose perhaps suggesting she knew a little more about some of the goings on around here than she may have been letting on. She had lived here before joining the Knighthood (and had rolled a 17 on knowledge check).]

You can put two and two together, I imagine.
no subject
Doesn't take a genius to do that math.
[Though it was still not the answer she'd expected, not entirely. She'd thought perhaps the Corsone Syndicate might have been taking care of the hunters they thought responsible for killing their employees but if none of them were connected to them... This was why she left the thinking to other people.]
no subject
Maybe it's not a calling card then. If the Corsones don't like hunters, poaching on their land, then what better way to attract Corsone ire and set them up to drop the soap than an actual biblical deluge of dead shadowkind to bring all the hunters running. The mark could be a taunt or a set up. Or maybe someone is just bored and feels like teasing them. [A pause, wherein she affect a pout for the dead people she doesn't care about.] That's what I would do.
no subject
That's a pretty melodramatic was to tease someone, don't you think?

[Where is Zero for her to make pointed glances at... damn him. She peers at the stranger calmly, taking a sip from her drink like they're talking about the pleasant weather.]

I might just.

eric steps up between them, coughing and motioning to the bartender for a drink he doesn't actually plan to drink. ]
Is there anything else you've heard? Anything at all that might help us look into this?

Hey! I'm paying for his [Adrian's] tab and I don't even like him. How much more do you want us to cough up?
[What - is - Diplomacy?!]
no subject
He puts a hand over hers, as if that'll calm her. Speaking too much out of turn isn't going to get them anywhere.]
We're trying to help here. [He says to the man.] Your customers are being murdered nearby, after all. That must be bad for business.
no subject
But what if we take that bottle of Belvedere off your hands? [Diplomacy 24 and Spot 17, don't worry, Lila's got yo back, bartender man.] That sound fair, doesn't it?
no subject
And yet, we could go back to the time when it wasn't getting paid cause, I'm pretty sure that's worse.
[There may have been a reason that Rose was chosen for this mission, but it wasn't for her people skills, the brunette merely rolling her eyes. She was with Dimitri. They were the ones doing the bartender a favor by looking into this and more alcohol was not what this situation needed, her own drink still going untouched.]

[ with a grimace, he gestures to lila for an ID, and then points across the bar to an occupied booth - where the guy who was on the phone when they walked in is shoving his cell back into his pocket. ] You might wanna talk to him if you're looking for more intel.
[ he affixes them with a meaningful stare ] But just a word of advice.
He doesn't exactly ... share well with other hunters. [ he shakes his head ] And with the things they say about him?
Hard to blame the guy.
no subject
entirely oblivious to their conversation, the stranger in jeans and a green flannel shirt scowls and runs a hand down his face, shaking his head and muttering something to himself before grabbing the beer bottle beside him and taking a long swig.
in fact, about five empty bottles litter the table beside him.
this should go well.
no subject
She does look the guy he points out. And makes a face. Ew.]

Good thing we're not trigger happy new blood then, huh.
[Almost grinning as her eyes follow his, remembering the guy in question from before.
A plan of action might have been a good idea or at the very least, a few more questions fired at the bartender to make sure they knew what they were walking into but with a Crit Fail on that decision? Rose Hathaway and well thought out plans never had gone hand in hand so why should now be any different.]
Good to know.
[Totally ignoring the warning from the bartender as she pushes off and takes advantage of the ID situation to break away from the group and make a beeline straight for Hunter-Guy, sliding into the chair next to him and leaning on the bar as she gives him an expectant look.]
So I hear you're the guy to talk to about what's been happening around here.
[Yeah.]
