[Well, all the squires have gotten an extra long weekend to get settled around this place, but now it's time to get down to brass tacks.  Or something.  And Kat comes a knockin' on Myri's door with plans.]

Hope nobody's hung over in there.

[It's not long before Myrilandel is opening the door, slightly confused. At the sight of Kat, her expression shifts quickly to a smile. Behind her, Amaranth stretches lazily on the large bed- having made himself quite at home.]

Kat, what a lovely surprise. Would you like to come in?

[shootfirst]

[Kat gives a crooked smile at her, and the sight of the cat] I'd love to, but we're going out. So if you wanna change, now's your chance.

[witchwoman]

[At the word 'out,' Amaranth jumps up and trots to the door. Myri smiles down at him before looking back up at Kat.]

No need. [A comfortable pair of traveling pants and a loose fitting tunic would serve her nicely. She steps outside with Amaranth just a step behind and closes the door.] Where are we off to?

[shootfirst]

The big city. You've got to get a good taste of modern life, and you're not about to get it in this stuffy old castle. I figured we could spend a few hours out there, and I could answer your questions out on the town.

[witchwoman]

I've seen a city before. [She begins in protest, but even as the sentence leaves her mouth, she knows that this world holds wonders that she has not yet seen.]

But I suppose I should learn my way around. And I could use the fresh air.

[shootfirst]

But have you seen a city with cars and subways and skateparks and neon lights and giant billboards? Guessin' not so much.

[She grins] That's the spirit! What are we standin' around here for?

[witchwoman]

[Myrilandel has no idea what Kat is talking about but that grin is infectious.]

Lead the way, then. I certainly don't know where we're going.

[shootfirst]

Well, we're gonna need to grab a car. [She holds up a set of keys with a jingling noise] Already got the keys. [She sets out down the hallway towards the lobby] Did you get a car ride on your way here the first time?

[witchwoman]

[Myri gulps as she remembers that strange beast she was told to climb inside. It was unlike anything she had ever experienced prior.

The strange thing about Myri's home world is that the concept of the wheel was never achieved. So to climb inside a creature and ride in its belly makes her incredibly nervous.]

Yes... but must we again?

[shootfirst]

Unless you don't wanna get to London for another coupla days.

[witchwoman]

[She sighs, knowing that this is just the way of this strange place. Plus, she trusts Kat enough to not believe that the girl will be taking her to her demise.]

We may as well get it over with, then.

[shootfirst]

It won't be that bad. Promise. [She practically jumps down the hallway, spinning around with her arms out] It'll be nice to get outta this place for awhile. I get crazy all cooped up.

[witchwoman]

[At Kat's reaction, she breaks out into a grin and hustles to keep up.]

Alright, alright. I believe you. As I said, fresh air will do me good. And I'm sure that part of my knightly duties will involve traveling in this strange way from time to time, so I may as well get used to it.

[shootfirst]

Just wait til we take an airplane.

[witchwoman]

A what?

[shootfirst]

[They emerge into the big black and white tiled lobby and she swings back around to look at Myri, walking backwards towards the door] It's this huge metal bird that you sit inside and it takes you way up above the clouds.

[witchwoman]

[There's a moment of fear that flickers quickly into curiosity. The notion of flying is obviously something she is less afraid of, for whatever reason.]

Oh, that would be a wonder.

[shootfirst]

We're pretty big on the wonders in the modern age. Trust me. [She pushes the big front doors open and heads down the huge marble steps between the two dragon statues]

[witchwoman]

[Myri follows, still smiling. If she is to be continuously surprised by this ever daunting world, she can think of no one better to guide her than Kat.]

So I am beginning to realize. So what wonders shall we see today?

[shootfirst]

If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, now would it? [She looks back over her shoulder] Careful with the stairs. Everything's still a little frosty from all the cold.

Did it snow where you came from?

[witchwoman]

[The confused look on the girl's face is probably enough of an answer to that question.]

Snow?

[shootfirst]

[She laughs, and points out across the lawn] You know - the white stuff clumped all over the place still?

[witchwoman]

I assumed it was ash...

[Oh also still kinda chilly. Brrrr. She is not used to this. Myri wraps her arms around herself. Her world is so much more temperant.]

[shootfirst]

We're a little short on active volcanoes around here.

[witchwoman]

Be thankful for that. [She says, thinking of the terrible state of Hanassa, a land for those banished from other kingdoms.]

So what is... snow, exactly?
