The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Oh? [ he tilts his head slightly, watching her with interest ] Very well.

My present, and thank you, again, you said that you used it where you came from, but where did you find it here?

Did you think people were the only things that came through the Veil?

Well I don't anymore.

[luthir]

I meant to ask you something as well.

[graveflowers]

[Color her surprised.]

Go for it.

[luthir]

Do you... [ his eyes trace towards the dance floor and he hesitates, before looking back at her. after a beat, he adds: ] have any idea yet about what sect you might choose when the time comes?

[graveflowers]

[Oh that.. but he... her expression crumbles for a second before she shakes her head.]

I. I thought it would be the Hide, for obviously reasons, but. [Her shoulders lift in a shrug.] Haven't actually done that much fighting recently and I kind of really liked what we did for the dryads. So. I don't know.

[luthir]

[ he nods, somewhat absently, forehead creasing the tiniest bit ] You were incredibly impressive. Any section would be fortunate to have you. [ another beat and then he seems to steel himself for something ] That was beside the point.

[ and he fixes her with a rather warm gaze (charisma roll 19, yeah boy) ] I meant to ask if you dance.

[graveflowers]

Uh-huh.

[If you think she is capable of coherent thought right now then you are sadly mistaken. Well maybe one coherent thought.]

Are you asking me to dance or just inquiring generally?

[luthir]

I imagine that might depend on what your answer would be.

[graveflowers]

Yes. I dance.

[luthir]

[ he gestures towards the floor, very formal ] Would you care to?

[graveflowers]

[She nods quickly, enough to knock some of her hair out of place, but for a moment words actually fail her. You'd think he had asked her some monumental question, the way she lights up, instead of just a dance.

But it is pretty damn monumental to Violet.]

Yes please.

[luthir]

[ that lip curves up again, and he folds one arm behind his back and offers her the crook of the other. ]

[graveflowers]

[Taking his arm, Violet is suddenly thankful she wore flats. Although, if she spontaneously hyperventilates and passes out she is pretty sure he'll catch her. But just in case:] Don't let me fall, okay?

[luthir]

[ he leads her to a spot off-center on the floor, and slides one hand gently to her waist, the other seeking her left. his eyes trace her face with a certain level of seriousness despite his little smile as he says solemnly: ] I'd catch you.

[graveflowers]

Always rescuing me.

[Her voice is quiet as her hand finds his and her other hand rests on his shoulder. She doesn't often dance, not like this, though sometimes she does get swept off her feet into a dance. This is different.]

You're making a habit of it.

[luthir]

[ dancing seems effortless to him, although there's nothing fancy in his movements - merely a natural fluidity applied to a very basic sort of step (perform: dance 15). it's easy enough to follow if she can keep up with the way he glides. ]

Does it bother you?

[graveflowers]

[She follows along just fine, secretly graceful under all that clumsiness. And maybe all the ballet lessons she has forgotten help. (Perform: dance 19). They really should have gone to Carnivale.]

I think if I minded I wouldn't exactly be dancing with you. [Her head cants to the side, very obviously studying him.] Does it bother you?

[luthir]

[ awww damn son, they look so good ] Why would it?

[graveflowers]

Well, if you haven't noticed, I'm kind of a klutz. Half the scars I have are actually my fault. Rescuing me could turn into a full time job. And it would probably get boring.

[luthir]

You hardly dance like a klutz.

[graveflowers]

That's cheating, I'm dancing with you. [Read: he is the graceful one. She just looks good by default.]

Flawlessly. There's more to that than merely following a lead.
