The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Faye spends most of her evening judging the new squires harshly, but even she gets caught up in the atmosphere eventually. These parties aren't so bad- she just wishes they were a bit more interesting. She's bored, like usual, and easily irritated... LIKE USUAL.

But she's here and dressed way down so you might notice how much she sticks out because of that. Whoops.]

[Andie comes out of nowhere and snags her arm.] Faye! I need advice.

[Only Andie can get away with yanking on Faye like that, and even then, she lets out a huff of annoyance.]

Okay. Never wear that color again.

[Why are you friends with her???]

[Andie just gives a weak smile because clearly Faye's just kidding around (wis 2).]

It's about Thoster.

[She shoots a look across the room to where he is, so fast as to almost be imperceptible because she doesn't want him to see her looking.]

[Faye just arches an eyebrow]

That creepy old guy you hang out with? Please tell me you've kicked him to the curb.

[Because if you're going to go for older guys, at least let Faye pick them for you]

[Oh my god she needs a new bff pronto. She wrinkles her nose at Faye's description because Thoster is hot ok and not that old.]

[This... sounds like it might actually be interesting.]

Alright, spill. What happened?

[She glances over in Thoster's direction again and sighs.]

He's just... look, he lies to my face. Like, all the time, apparently. I didn't know until he came up with some stupid excuse about freelance knights not having a public ceremony and like, how can I trust him?

So... What? You caught him in one lie and he told you that he's been lying to you constantly? [faye is kind of an expert on deceit and that doesn't sound right to her.]

[Sean's already made a fool of himself with Felicity, but it was endearing as hell so bonus points to Sean for just being the most adorable ginger thing on the planet. He'll be forever alone, but everyone will love him.

ANYWAY, now he is just sipping his beer and hanging out because whatever. He's got his cute tie untied and his sleeves rolled up, but he's just leaning against the wall being Sean when Faye walk by and Sean notices her clothes. He snorts out a bit of amused laughter and raises his glass slightly as if toasting her. Get it girl.]

[Oh no you did not just laugh at Faye Chamberlain when she walked by, peasant. At the sound of it, she stops and rounds on him, eyes narrowed.]

Something funny?

Nope. [Why would you think his laughter meant that Faye.] Nice to see someone who doesn't listen to the man.

[Look, he is from the sixties, he can say stuff like that and get away with it because you know if he stayed around til '69 he'd have been at Woodstock. And stoned out of his mind.]

You can't be serious... [As a child of the 90s, Faye doesn't find that endearing at all]

She continues to judge him harshly but backs off on her glare a little. He's at least marginally more interesting just by fortune of being younger than 75% of the others.]

Sean. Sean Cassidy. [Most winning smile. (Charisma 18) Just love him already jfc.] And who might you be?

[The smile catches her off guard which explains why her own is a little less dazzling (cha 12). She mostly just looks confused, like she wasn't expecting it.]

[No one expects to be smacked in the face with sudden ginger appreciation, its his real super power.]

[God damn, son. Faye's prickly exterior starts to melt into something more relaxed.]

It would be, wouldn't it? [Yeah, she might be preening a little.]

[He is butter, baby. He raises his glass again, he appreciates your self-esteem, Faye.]

Considering the high degree of people here, I think that is saying something.

[Her expression shifts to sarcastic confusion.]

We must have met different people, because 'high degree' is not how I'd describe it.

Oh. [She still doesn't seem that impressed tbh. She shrugs in return.] Well, if you'd rather ask him to dance... [Why yes, she might be teasing you- and not in the way that ends with you crying in the fetal position]

[He laughs, cheerful and amused. He likes your style Faye, he really does.]

So if I ask you to dance are you gonna suddenly change your mind?
