The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Lissa looks beautiful in her royal purple dress with her long blonde hair a cascade down her back, but that isn't a surprise, honestly. It is hard for the willowy Moroi princess to look anything but beautiful. She looks a tad nervous though, looking around for the two dhampirs she knows as she hovers near the edge of the stairs.]

[Lila is bored as hell, but that is basically how she spends 98% of her time and she enjoys parties (and free champagne), so... she isn't going to say no to a squiring party even if she doesn't give a shit about any of the new people. She looks hella gorg as per usual. And she turns 18 in three weeks so queue up now, boys, she's taking applications.]

[Diana spent quite a while wondering whether she should chance a floor-length dress after what happened during the ceremony, and eventually decided to go with a silvery, mid-length dress. The skirt swishes softly around her knees as she peeks into the ballroom, trying to look around subtly before she's thrust into a throng of unfamiliar people for a second time.

With the tiny opals shimmering at her throat and long blonde hair pinned to one side, she looks beautiful (cha 19) if a bit overwhelmed.]

[Even sharing headspace with Lissa hadn't rendered Rose immune to the effect the ethereal Moroi had on people, the Dhampir standing back and watching the way others responded to her as she mingled with the other Knights.

Through the bond Rose could feel the nervous energy that coursed through her and yet even now as she lingered on the outskirts, Lissa looked more like she belonged here than Rose ever had or probably would.

Wrestling two glasses of champagne from a waiter, Rose's face was the picture of strained friendliness as she approached the blonde, all but thrusting the glass in her direction as she tried for a smile that looked tight.]

So Wynn's kind of a badass huh... [Small-talk. Not something she excelled at but it was a start.]

[Faye apparently has been underwhelmed by her past few squiring parties and really could not be bothered to go all out like normal (disguise 10). She doesn't look bad, just not dolled up and smoldering like she normally tries to be.

She's here, though, and checking out the fresh meat. As she goes to head into the ballrom, her gaze lands on the blonde in the silver dress. She can't help but roll her eyes at the wide eyed innocent look the girl is giving everyone and everything. Puh-leeze. She knocks the girl in the shoulder on her way into the room.]

Oops. [She says in a completely flat tone before giving her a taunting glance over her shoulder.]

[Andie doesn't generally go to squiring ceremonies. Too long and boring for her short attention span. Parties are another story entirely. Parties have... food. Not to mention new people, who are often pretty cool.

Or super gorgeous in this case. And looking like she might need a friend to help acclimate her. Which means Andie's there, as if out of nowhere, holding some hors d'oeuvre. That she didn't even completely devour!]

Hungry? The food here's awesome.

[With a Disguise check of 22 Rose scrubs up extremely well, even if the smile she's worn all evening is at best, strained, at worst non-existent. Yeah you try suddenly having two sets of thoughts in your head and act like it's no big deal!

As a trained Guardian she should know better than to be drinking when there was a Royal Moroi to be watched but tonight that wasn't keeping her from the bar because the one and only thing she'd really learned about the bond was that alcohol seemed to mute it and a week into this thing, muting was a good life choice. Ya know. Unless you wanted her to opt for the taking her frustrations out on other people thing cause throwing punches still hadn't been ruled out as a viable alternative.]

Something strong but not too strong and preferably something that doesn't taste like it'll eat a hole in my stomach.

[Felicity always loves to dress up and have a good time, and she's usually pretty good at it (disguise check 25). As always, legs are the theme of the evening, and she has her brown hair pulled up and out of her face as she slips her way in to mingle through the party.

She's slowly getting better at recognizing the faces that have been in and out at various points in time, but she still doesn't have names for all of them. That's where mingling can come in very handy.

She snatches a glass of champagne and scans the faces, looking for a receptive one. Hopefully it won't be too hard to find.]

[Something about the girl who just knocked into her unnerves Diana, but she tugs the shoulder of her gown back into place and follows after, rubbing the iridescent surface of one of the tiny opals near the center of her necklace. She doesn't think it was an accident -- except that they've never met before, so she can't have offended her.

[Spoiler: everyone can offend Faye just by existing.

She only makes it a few feet into the ballroom before she turns on her heels and gives the girl a dangerous smile.]

You're new right? Deanna or something? I'm going to give you some free advice: Stay out of my way. [But she's not half as scary as she wishes she was (intimidate 10)]

[Faye's good now. She found a drink and is making some rounds to check out the newest squires. She find Lissa by the steps and gives her a quick once over.]

Looking for someone? [Even her non-confrontational voice is confrontational...]

[Faye is probably the most under-dressed person at this party but she can't be bothered to give a fuck. Despite still being kind of pissed at Lila for the stunt she pulled last time with Rose, she makes a point to swing by the blonde's general direction.

Look, that power is scary as hell and she wants to stay on the girl's good side. Or maybe see if she can learn how to do that...]

[Faye's mocking tone comes from behind. She takes the spot beside Rose at the bar and gives her a big, insincere sympathetic look.]

[Thoster's lost a bit of pep in his step lately. He still cleans up alright, but nothing to write home about (disguise 13). He puts on a smile, but the light behind it isn't quite as intense.

But when he spots the leggy thing he chatted up at a previous party, he swoops over with his third drink of the evening.]

You look absolutely dazzling, lass.

[She turns back to Thoster with a wide smile, before bobbing in a bit of a curtsy.]

Why thank you. I do love to dress up.

[Thoster may hit on everything that moves, but even he has a limit- and the little blonde lingering just outside of the grand ballroom looks a bit too young for his tastes. Still, she's sweet and done up very pretty. He recalls his youngest sister when he watches her, looking all nervous like that. He steps up beside her while she's looking in at the party (the one that's for her, mind you). Clearing his throat, he smiles and offers an arm.]

Care for an escort, m'lady?

I don't know if badass is the word. [Most of the nervousness fades when Rose approaches, the sheer comfort at being with her best friend (even if her best friend doesn't remember her -- they've lived through worse, she hopes) enveloping her in a warm feeling and chasing away stray butterflies. ] You and Dimitri are badass, he is... [She shrugs after a brief struggle to find the right word. She can't.] He is something else. ...No offense.

Um... thank you? [It might be more effective if her victim isn't nearly the same height as her, but the tone of Faye's voice does make Diana decide that correcting her will probably be both a bad idea, and useless in the long-run.

This isn't exactly the welcome she'd expected.] I don't think that's going to be a problem.

[Since they probably won't be spending much time together.]

[He matches with a half bow, smirking at her.]

Why wouldn't you, if you do it so well.

[Her smile brightens into something sickeningly sweet and entirely insincere.]

[And she turns to go find someone else to talk to who doesn't make her want to reach out and choke someone.]

I'm starting to think the boss is spoiling me by throwing so many parties.

So long as there's new blood to bring in, they'll have them every month, far as I can tell. It's good for the spirit of the group, I think. Can't be too upset if there's a party going on, after all.

[But his smile drops a touch and he looks out into the crowd for a moment before bringing his expression up and his focus back on her.]
