The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I'm trying to make a good impression. That way when I absolutely need to snap those rules in two later, the boss man doesn't come down quite as hard.

I like to think of them as more guidelines than actual rules.

Would that we all. Seems like you're a bit of a fish out of water around here, same as me. Perhaps we'd be better off sticking together for a spell, hm?

I won't say no to that.

That would depend on how many it takes for me to know I can trust you.

[He chuckles to himself, because he knows better. A few more drinks and he'll be bragging without any care for who hears.]

Tell me, have you earned yourself any stories on your knightly journey to regale me with? A good party is always ripe with stories of adventure, after all.

I suppose that depends on what you mean by adventure. I haven't really had any quests, but I do have a few amusing anecdotes.

[She pauses, considering for a moment, trying to come up with some kind of hijinx that was bound to be entertaining on some level.]

My friend Jeremy and I used to run together. And most of the time the jobs were pretty simple - one distracts the clerk, the other grabs some food, once that's done we get out.

It was my turn to distract the guy at the counter, and I was still a little green at the time. I had no idea what to say to him, so after standing there for a few minutes looking like an absolute idiot, I fell back on what I knew best -- my high school Italian.

[God bless a nat 20 int check to see if Thoster has learned enough about this world to know about foreign languages. He raises an eyebrow slowly and shakes his head.]

I take it you were a little rusty?

And the guy in question was completely fluent. So my "fluster shop keeper with foreign language" plan went right out the window and I had to go to plan B.

And what, my dear, was plan B?

Grab him and kiss him over the top of the counter. Actually worked pretty well -- he sure as hell wasn't paying attention to my partner.

[she pauses.]

Wasn't a bad kisser either.

[bluffcheck]

[That gets a laugh out of him.]

Well, I'm sure he was better to have you for inspiration.

[She grins.]

I'm sure he was. Still, it was fun.

[bluffcheck]

And that's the most important thing, isn't it? Life's too short to sulk about. [Someone is trying to convince themselves of this more than her.] And a little fun never hurt anyone.

Exactly. I've found that as long as you're enjoying yourself, everything else will fall into place.
