The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[There's a quiet smile on his lips, knowing that she knew his name without Rose having to tell it to her. He's curious about how much else she knows about their old life, but at the same time, he's not sure he wants to know.

There's that dark feeling in the back of his mind that he'd been off without those memories.

Still, he feels drawn to her, and he doesn't think it's entirely because of his roll as a Guardian.]

That's correct. [He nods his head.] Welcome to the Knights. I hope you've been adjusting to things easily.

It hasn't been that hard. [She shrugs slightly, holding her glass in both hands. Its true, she is used to being without family and very many friends, and she can make new friends. As far as she can remember its just been her and Rose. She is still working on the Rose part but even being in the same room with her is good enough -- selfishly, since she knows it can't be easy on her best friend.]

There seems to be much less subterfuge than there is at court. [A pause, as her expression turns wry.] I don't think I'll miss that very much.

You must be a royal, then.

[He nods his head knowingly. It's strange remembering some things and not others. Knowing his duty and he role and the way the roles are played, but not the people in them.

He just has a sense of who's been important. Rose came first, and now Lissa. He had a similar feeling about her, some kind of strong connection. He just didn't know what it meant.]

There's a bit of politics going on here, but it's very unimportant in nature. [Mostly some of the squires trying to feel more important than everyone else. Dimitri stays out of it as much as possible.] If anyone gives you any trouble, I'm here.

[Rose had the benefit of a good right hook, though he was pretty sure Lissa was capable as well.]

[She nods at his assertion that she's royal, but doesn't say anything about it. The Dragomir princess doesn't get a lot of chances to be normal, so she is drinking this all in -- she can get behind a meritocracy, making her way though on her skills instead of her name. And it is a little freeing, not having to act a certain way because she is the last of her family and has some made up status to uphold.

Her mouth lifts into a smile that is half amused and half proud at his offer. But still, she moves to nip this in the bud.] You know that you and Rose are the best Guardians I've ever seen, but I don't want you to feel like you have to be Guardian Belikov just because I am around now. [Be free, Dimitri, fly like a peacock!] I'm not a Moroi princess you need to protect anymore, I'm just Lissa.

[If he makes the offer as just Dimitri though... well, he and Rose are who she would turn to anyway.]

[He doesn't say anything further on it, either. It was an observation more than anything else, a quiet reflection of the information he remembers colliding with the memories he lacks.]

If we were here to be Guardians, we would not have let the Moroi in Chicago stay behind. [They would have demanded to stay with him, to protect him.] We're knights now, with a bigger role to play.

[His expression was serious, but also friendly and kind.]

I would be protecting Ser Lissa, my comrade-in-arms, not a Dragomir princess.

[She nods once, decisive, and smiles again.] Good. [And oh she likes that, being a comrade-in-arms, because it puts her on near equal footing and she's never been that.]

Good.

[He nods once in return. He knows about how things worked between Guardians and the Moroi, even if he doesn't remember living it. His impression had always been that the Moroi thought themselves above the Dhampirs, not the other way around.

Still, they were all the same here, dealing with a world they needed to learn about, sticking together and helping others like themselves and the less fortunate as best they could.]

Have you been here long? [Its probably be easier to get the basics from Dimitri, since with Rose they still had to wade through weird.... ~feelings.]

My squiring ceremony was back in March, though I arrived through the Veil a month or two before that.

[So yes, a decent chunk of time, to be sure.]

Oh wow, that's a while. [Her mind wanders for a second, a lot of things could happen in six months, she knew all too well.] Do you like it?

I do.

[His smile is soft and genuine as he nods.]

And Rose is here, and now you. I hope you come to think of it as home as well.

[Her eyes immediately cut to Rose across the room, a small smile flittering across her face. It already feels like home, because Rose was her missing piece. She looks back at Dimitri and her smile deepens.]
