The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

You could always do what I did and drop a name or two. Get the Cher flair going.

[She mouths "Cher flair".] Mmm, I don't know if Lissa is one name material. It's not Beyonce. [A beat.] So what is the full name, I told you mine.

Mine's not so much about embarrassment material. [ a bit of a shadow crosses his features ] My dad all but disowned me, so I cut the family name free. Seemed the right thing to do.

But you kept the Junior.

Yeah, well otherwise, I'd have to change my first name too, or it'd just be his. Seemed too much hassle, just to make a statement.

[Lissa isn't sure that's much of a statement, considering. It's not like the Jr doesn't give it away that they're related.]

Why did he disown you? [Yeah. Just going for it.]

Because all he wanted to do was get the hell out of the family business, and all I wanted to do was go charging straight into it as soon as I graduated.
