[ the pendergast manor is a sprawling sight, impressive even to those who live in the world's most ridiculously sized castle. the whole place has a sort of country club air, and white gloved butlers escort the little troupe of knights through the halls, past expensive paintings and all the other old money trappings. ]

[ she shakes her head. "They're totally on the up." a shade of frustration crosses her expression. "And the note made it pretty clear it's a stalker fanboy."

faith pipes up from where she was dragging behind. ] Can we see it?

[ "Well, yeah," the heiress replies, moving to a white door along the hallway, and yanking it open. "But wait out here. No offense, but I don't want a bunch of strangers in my bedroom." Annnd she disappears inside. ]

[Phineas begins to look around the hallway, before speaking in hushed tones with the knights, while she is off in her room.]
How do you suppose he got the note in the room?

[He points at the bottom of the door.]
Got in the house somehow, and slipped it under the door?

Could be. Might work here or have a friend who does. Or maybe someone really did sneak in.

Didn't Wynn say she thought they had magic or something? That would make it pretty easy, if the house weren't warded against that kind of break-in.

Well... if that's the case, then no amount of theorizing is going to get us anywhere... [He looks frustrated at the notion.] But, at the very least, we know to be on the lookout for sorcery... if it was indeed magic.

I wonder why she thinks its magic?

[Phineas looks at Lissa.]

Or, if it's not magic, maybe it has something to do with that underground contraption you'd mentioned on the plane? With the secret passageways and such...

[Phineas may or may not be unclear as to what exactly a Railroad is.]

Unfortunately I don't think this house is that old, but I wouldn't doubt there could be passageways. [Rich people, yo.] Or at least hidden doors and staircases for the household staff.

That sort of access might grant the appearance of magic.

[ and out comes the heiress with a little slip of paper, shutting the door behind her.

"Ok, so here..." she holds it out for one of them to take, with an eyeroll. "That was the latest one. Soo psycho."

the note is handwritten, in a masculine cursive, and reads:

[Thoster takes the note because he's nosy and she's offering. Looking it over, he passes it on for the others to see as well.]

And there was nothing else? No request on where or when to meet? [He rubs his chin.] Can't very well speak to him if he hasn't told you to where to go to do it.

she knots her arms, hip cocked as she manages half a shrug.

"Nothing. Why do you think I've got you guys here? He's going to come to me, and this is his best opportunity." ]

Suppose it is. [Thoster claps his hands together and looks to his colleagues.] I think we've wasted enough of this lovely girl's time. Solace! Perhaps you could accompany the lass as she readies for the party? Keep an eye on things?

[Makes sense to him to keep the girl with the cleric, at least. He's open to suggestions, but Thoster really wants to take a better look around the house, and something tells him that this girl won't like all his snooping.]

Good idea.
I could use some time to... mentally prepare, for the evening's festivities.

[Phineas gets a few shades greener...]
And, also perhaps some more time to rest and recover from that horrid flight.

[At least he's not puking as much this time... He'll get used to it someday.]

Very well. [ solace gestures for the girl to go ahead, patiently ] We'll all reconvene, then, in the ballroom soon?

Quick as a flash, friend. Don't get started without us! [Thoster cracks a smile because... Solace is kind of a giant stick in all of the mud.]

I'll... be right along. [Phineas gives a bit of a strained smile, then stalks off in search of some privacy...]

[Once Solace leaves and Phineas goes to... do whatever it is he does... Thoster turns to the girls and grins.]

Anyone want to have a look around with me? Get the lay of the land before the party starts without prying pampered eyes?

[ faith slings her arm through his with a grin ] Only if we can also find some fingerfood. I can't be a proper lady without fingerfood!

First stop, the kitchen, then? [Calling out over his shoulder.] Girls, you're welcome to join us!

[But if not, he will just enjoy some time with his lovely new friend. Maybe he can get more information about Andie.... also mission stuff.]

This thing's probably gonna be catered, amirite?

No idea what that means, but it sounds pretty when you say it, lass.

It means they truck in all kinds of fancy food and drink from outside.

[Lissa wavers -- torn between worry over their ill team member and hunger now that Faith's brought up food -- before she uses her long legs to catch up to Thoster and Faith.] This house might have enough staff to do all the food from the kitchen and they just hire out waitresses.

[Thoster beams at Lissa she joins them, offering his other arm to her if she'll take it.]

Well, it can't hurt to see for ourselves, can it?
