The mission to intercept a shipment heading to Andres - one among many such mysterious deliveries that Wynn suspects have some sinister ties to the movements of Prime Minister Dimitris Sarandis' involvement in a Shadowkind slaver cult - is already off to an interesting start.  No sooner have the crew gotten aboard Thoster's pirate ship and headed out on a course that's meant to intercept the vessel then the winds start kicking up and dark thunderheads roll in on the horizon.  Lightning streaks the horizon as rain starts to fall, and Thomas stands on the deck, looking out with one foot up on the railing, frowning out. 

"Gonna be rough waters.  Not sure yet if that's going to work to our advantage or not."

Steady as she goes, mates. [ is that a pointed comment at thoster or a general announcement? the world may never know. ] Alright, Chatwyn, this is your territory. Steer us in and sound the orders.

[Thoster gets his head in the game and starts moving them towards the other ship (drive 16).]

David! Watch the sails. Grab Brantley if you need a hand. [And other such things. Idk how sailing works guys...]

Andie, y'might stay out of sight. You're our secret weapon after all.

[Brantley is genuinely confused, he has sailed before, but not as a crew, only as a passenger. So he does what he was told. He stands there above the deck of the ship looking at the sail, he doesn't have a clue what he has to do with them, but rather than staring blank, he watches them carefully, ready to report if something happens to the sails and ready to do anything he is commanded to do.(wis 15)]

[Hey Thoster

Guess who got a spot check of 20.

Andie starts when he says her name and starts moving.]

Right! I'll just duck behind the shaft. Uh. Mast!

[And she zips away, blushing vigorously.]

[David, however, jumps right to it, and while the narration doesn't really know how sailing works either, David kinda does (knowledge 9). He knows long boats better but sail boats are still a thing he knows. He's just a little rusty.

So put stuff here with managing the sails and all that jazz.

To Brantley:]

C'mon. We want to move with the wind.

[ thoster steers the ship into the storm, and it begins bobbing against the waves as rain starts to fall heavily on the deck. the wind is furiously lashing the sails, and one of the loose ropes snags around one of them and gets caught, as brantley watches.

thomas nods. ] Think that's my cue to get below deck. They can't see my face, in case any of them survive. Good luck, lads and ladies.

[Brantley is going to ask David about how to make a ship move with the wind. But before he can actually do it, he notices the loose rope. (spot 15)]

Wait, let me fix this first.

[Brantley immediately heads toward the tangled sail. It would be pretty hard for a guy who frequently trips to navigate the deck of a rocking ship. But miraculously, that guy manages to do it. In fact, he does it like an experienced sailor. He skillfully traverses the deck and fixes the problem(dex nat 20). He actually might have the talent to be a mariner after all.]

[Thoster nods as Thomas leaves, trying to shake off that little mishap with Andie.]

The sea may be in your blood yet, friend! [He calls out to Brantley.] Everyone keep your weapons close by. We won't waste time once we get near.

[David raises his eyebrows a bit in Brantley's direction. The skill is definitely there, and he pauses as he shifts Galahad's sword over his shoulder.]

Sure you've never done this before?

Nope, unless playing pirates with a toy ship count as one. [He cheerfully answers.] Aye, Captain! [Feeling piratey, he shouts as he prepare for the encounter, he always carry a knife but he is more confident with his boxing skill, still the knife is hidden somewhere safe but easy to drawn when the situation deems necessary.]

[As Thoster gets them closer, he knows that now that they can see the enemy vessel, they can be spotted just as easily.]

Steady, lads! [He calls out to the two men, but glances back where Andie's hiding and gives her a quick grin.] And lass. I'll get us close enough that we should be able to jump to board.

[It may be a rough parking job though... Drive 13]

[ on the deck of the other boat, the men do notice them coming... and start scrambling for weapons, because the boat doesn't really have any mounted. the side of thoster's boat crashes against theirs pretty hard, doing damage to both vessels. everyone has to make a balance check (DC 13) or fall over. ]

[Thoster is... not doing so well (Balance 7). He loses grip of the wheel and falls to the ground at the impact.]

Shit. Drop the anchor! [He calls out to David or Brantley or whoever can fucking do it. He'll take some time to get to his feet now, thanks.] Time to show 'em what we're made of!

[David is steady on his feet (balance 24) - all those years of traveling in longboats doing him some good after all. Then he heads back to Thoster, offering him a hand to help him up.]

Let's go.

[Andie gets up gracefully (balance 23) as soon as they've made contact. Then she ducks and weaves, moving fast enough and subtly enough to remain as hidden as possible (move silently 15, hide 15) as she zips over to the other ship. She hurls herself gracefully over onto the other deck (jump 20) then runs for cover (move silently 21, hide 19).]

[ andie moves too quickly for anyone to notice, and finds shelter behind some barrels on the deck. everyone is going to have to roll for init though, so incoming combat plurk! ]

[It seems sea is really Brantley's friend. The crash is pretty rough, but Brantley manages to keep standing, almost tripping but still on his feet, pretty good for a guy like him (balance 13). After the crash, he tries to carry out the captain's order. He isn't really sure how to anchor but luckily it isn't as hard as hacking a computer so somehow he succeeds to carry out the command(wis 16). He then regroups with his mates and prepares to board the other ship.] Lead the way.

[Thoster isn't really all that concerned with hiding, so he just nods to Brantley, glances at David and grins wickedly before moving quickly to jump to the enemy ship (jump 21).

And like any good bard, he prepares for battle by... singing! Any ally within earshot of Thoster can now hear inspiring song of courage! Please enjoy your +1 to attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against fear. This lasts for as long as he's singing and for five rounds after he stops (so don't forget to add those bonuses in, dudes!)]

[ the toughs will now all be color coordinated, here we go. sailor c wears a cerulean blue puffy coat, and hoists a handgun, speaking with a ridiculous cockney accent. ]

Oi! Move it, ye filthy pirates! [ he fires a 'warning shot' in thoster's general direction (atk 10). sailor e wears an eggplant colored coat, and is having a helluva time in the rain up here, pulling his hood down so low, that it's hard to tell who he was even aiming at (atk 5), as the bullet goes wild. ]

[Meanwhile, Andie peers out looking for a way to get below decks, or alternatively, something that looks cargo-y (spot 14).]

[ well, there are all those barrels she is hiding behind... and also a door that might lead down to the cargo hold. more shots are fired at thoster (5 & 14 atks). alas, the second one strikes for 8 damage. ]

[Brantley prepares to board the other ship. He steadies his stance and starts to run toward the other ship. At the edge, he tries to leap with all his might, but the storm makes the ship a little bit too slippery, so instead of leaping, he trips himself and is on his way to take a dive.(jump 7)]

[ the other sailor has a taser, however, and he tries to jab thoster with it, but the boat pitches on their side as well with the same wave that knocks brantley near off the ship (atk 5) ]

[Never fear, David is here! He brought up the rear on the party and when he saw Brantley start to miss his mark, his hand was there to make sure he didn't go over the side (reflex save 19). He grabs hold, using his position of leverage to pull him back onto the boat (strength 20 total).]

[No don't worry. It's cool guys. HE WILL JUST HANDLE ALL FIVE BY HIMSELF.

The second he's shot, Thoster's song dies from his lips to be replaced with a string of curses. He reaches for his morningstar and grits his teeth, going for the nearest sailor (which happens to be that asshole with the taser... attack 18, dmg 4)]
