Everybody loves a media circus and the trial of Rafael Giovanni is no exception. If he was famous before, in the days following the shooting, now he's all people are talking about, and all the tabloids want to focus on. The complications presented at some of the early hearings by Jaka, regarding the identity of the Black Scourge and Rafael's alleged reaction have only made the story more appealing to the millions watching.

They've also caused the trial to drag out for months as facts are checked, evidence is poured over, and the jury becomes only more split on the issue. In the meantime, the holidays fly by, and one of the most terrible winters in years blankets Chicago in blizzards.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the last log and continuing for the next couple months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Elena and decide where to head next.

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever.

Well the facts are all mixed in with...that so I can see where it might get confusing.

People like to imagine things are more sordid than they really are. Not that our lives aren't actually sordid enough.

[witchwoman]

Why would people... I don't understand why anyone would want that sort of attention.

[shootfirst]

Everybody wants the world to love them, usually because they don't love themselves or some BS, I don't know. But they forget that being famous also means having zip privacy.

[witchwoman]

I miss when things were simpler. [She pulls her legs up, hugging her knees to her chest.]

[shootfirst]

Some day they will be again. Even if we have to hide in the castle for six months.

[witchwoman]

Hmm... [She just makes a quiet little noise. The fact that she's thought about what it might be like to not be in the thick of this, to be back at the castle... Well, she doesn't want to talk about it really. She feels bad.]

It can't last forever. We just have to wait and see.

And in the meantime, there's Flappy Bird.

I'm terrible at that game. [The important topics at hand.]

That's why you practice. That, and to eventually crush Spike's high score so he cries himself to sleep.

[witchwoman]

[She just smiles and shakes her head.]

I'd be better off trying to find sort of... flapping magic.

If it's cheating spells you want, I've got loads of those.

[witchwoman]

Somehow I'm not terribly surprised. [She teases lightly.]

It's less fun that way though, I guess. I mean, if you're gonna be awesome at something, don't you wanna really be awesome at it?

I doubt I'll ever be much good at those games, but that's alright with me. It's a little strange to remember back ... a year? Nearly two now? I had never seen a phone or laptop before in my life.

[shootfirst]

I can't even imagine. You do pretty good, you know. Some Shadowkind are like... grandmothers with the VCR.

[witchwoman]

I had a good teacher. [She bumps her shoulder against Kat's.] I still have a long way to go, though.

[shootfirst]

[ kat smirks ] What, you mean you're not ready for hacking lessons yet?

[witchwoman]

It could be useful, but... I'd more likely break your computer before I could ever hope to be successful.

[shootfirst]

[ she rolls her eyes with a smile ] It's cute how you think I'd let you use my computer. That's what Gar's is for.

[witchwoman]

I suppose I could get my own... At least then, if it breaks, I wouldn't lose anything important of anyone's.
