The Knights arrive at the scene of the fire several hours after the fact.  It's clearly gutted the building, located in a commercial district of Rome.  Only one fire truck remains, along with several police cruisers and a van marked 'Arson Investigation Unit' in Italian.  The police team seems hard at work combing over the scene.

A small sign in Italian hangs half-legible over the door.  Though the fire is out, the building still smolders, even as water drips from the blackened timbers and stone.

Great Mother.

[ It sounds like a plea for help because she is fresh out of patience with all y'all. Running off to where she can't heal you. When she's certain Kate can stand on her own, she books it after Rose because jesus don't just charge in there on your own gurl. ]

[Kate is ambulatory, so at least there's that. She still feels like she was hit by a truck but what can you do. She glances towards where Rose and Alanna are running off to, before glancing back at Bo and shrugging.]

Guess we're going ghost hunting.

[and with that she's just going to start moving towards the bathroom window, hoping there's something they can do so that a man doesn't just get deep fried, deserving of it or not.]

[Well, geez, they weren't there when she'd first mentioned it, give her a break.

There's a sigh and a roll of her eyes before she runs after them, bringing up the rear as they all pile into the bathroom.

Clearly, this is going to go amazingly.]

[ the charred one tries to strike at moretti again, but the slippery dude ducks away with a cry, shaking his head and crying out: ] It was not personal! I'm not a killer!

Just... try and get the window open would you! [Those words barked at Moretti as Rose moves in on the flaming flurgen.]

[ with a flipping nat 20, moretti manages to reach up enough to get it open and start climbing the fuck out of there. he is not fucking around. ]

[ charred one murder, attempt number ... who even knows. alanna crosses the bathroom beside rose and takes another swing at it ??? (atk 24, dmg 12 PENETRATION WHOO NOW IF ONLY IT WILL HIT). ]

All of you, climb after him!

[ She's hellbent on being the last one out because, well, protective instinct. Maybe the sword will distract the charred one from pursuing for a minute ??? ]

[ probably even to her own surprise, ALANNA'S SWORD CONNECTS omg you can actually hit it. /interjects this tag b/c reasons ]

[Yeah, Kate is too beat up to even bother trying to fight but HEY LOOK THAT WORKED. Go to it, girls, she's just going to try and make a break for the window to follow Moretti out, getting about halfway through the room.]

[Bo will spend her turn doing a full move after Moretti as well. If they're going to fight this thing, they might as well do it where they might not also get blown up at any moment.]

[ so yaaaaaaaay alanna's sword struck the thing!

but... less yay, because it also... melts.

15 fire damage is enough to bypass the weapon's hardness and melt it down to the hilt. mmm. the thing scowls and then lays one hand on the wall, looking to melt that as well so it can keep going after moretti after he gets out. ]

[ Alanna lets out a legitimate yell and ... throws the hilt at it. Since it's useless anyway. (ranged attack 25 bUT I ROLLED A 19 IN CASE THAT COUNTS AS A CRIT HERE ok). Too bad she can't run after an attack. ]

[And Rose sure is taking a moment to look from her stake to the charred one and wondering if this is about to be the worst life plan ever... cause mun doesn't know if the magic stakes have a fort save...

But she's going to give it a red hot go anyway (badoom ching), swinging at the charred one (Atk 29 Dmg 18 if it hits).]

[ the hilt goes right through the thing as it becomes incorporeal again :') rose's attack follows suit, her hand passes right through it, feeling the burn of heat, but taking no damage from any flames as they shift out of existence. womp womp.

meanwhile, moretti is out the window and jumps down to the ground, taking off as fast as he can, which is... only thirty feet so far ok ]

[Kate keeps booking it for the window, moving the final thirty feet to the window. She attempts to haul herself out but she's still sort of recovering from almost being burned alive so that ... doesn't work so well (climb 2). Please don't blow up in the next six seconds, factory on fire.]

[Bo isn't far behind, and she easily hauls her ass through the window (climb 21) before turning to help anyone else out that's coming through behind her.]

[ the wall is glowing with red heat, but it's pretty thick so he still has to hold his hand on it for awhile in order to burn a hole through, so... HE'S DOING THAT ]

[Meanwhile Rose isn't leaving until Kate at least is out of here so... yeah lets try that swing and a probably miss thing again; (Atk 26 Dmg 21 if it lands.)]

[ to rose's surprise, her weapon connects - and pierces right through the thing's chest, where heat licks up her arm but doesn't hurt her. it lets out an anguished cry and then there's a sudden explosion of light all around them, a roar of flames... and then the thing vanishes, defeated.

[Kate just kind of blinks, wide eyed at that, but it's something they can really discuss after they've escaped certain death. So she's just going to scramble on out of there in a surge of strength that came from God only knows where, doesn't matter she is out that window (climb nat 20).]

[holy shit they fucking did it.

or more like Rose and Alanna did whatever.

Bo helps Kate through the window (not that she needs it before she bends down, looking into the building.]

Rose, let's go!

[Trust that nobody was more surprised by that than Rose, at least if the look on her face as the charred one disappeared was anything to go by.]

Uh... com-ing? [And with her climb check of 17 she's out the window along with everyone else.]

[ alanna tries so hard and gets so far and in the end falls on her ass (climb check 10). giving it another go with an action point, she clambers out the window with ease now that she's got a feel for it (climb 21).

up and out after rose. ]

[Kate stumbles as far away from the wall as she can get before she stops, glancing back to take in the state of the building. They really shouldn't stop, however, so she keeps stepping backwards, before glancing around to see if they can find Moretti (spot nat 20).]

Where is he?

[They can deal with wtf happened to the ghost when they have their guy again.]

[After Alanna emerges from the window behind Rose, Bo finally turns away from the building, assuming the others will do the same, and checking for their target. (Spot 21)]

There. [She points before she starts to run after him.] Might as well catch his sorry ass.
