The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme.  With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity.  Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.  

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums.    People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

It's Chinese New Year. [shrug] I came because I thought there would be Chinese food. You know, like, actual food, noodles and stuff.

I was gonna do it anyway. [ she shrugs because she wasn't really being nice or anything. astrid gave her the idea and she was just standing there, it made sense to get her food too. is that being nice? w/e ]

Stuck on 234 because I had to rescue a princess and the fucking boat didn't have an outlet for my charger. [ hook's stupid boat, lila is still not over having to take it. ]

You were on a boat? Who even does that anymore, besides like ... people who go on cruises? Oh, I'm on level 250.

Pirates, apparently. I hate planes, and I'd still rather have taken a flight. [ wait for it ] We went to Scotland. We could have driven there. [ NEVER OVER THIS BULLSHIT. ]

That sounds like the dumbest thing. Were you kidnapped? Because you say pirates, and that's where I go.

No. [ her nose wrinkles because as much as she protested taking a boat for a three hour flight or a eight hour drive... she did volunteer. ] He's a shitty pirate, I don't think he'd even know how to kidnap. He sort of just ineffectually flirts with underage girls and makes creepy doe eyes.

Gross. Sounds like a stranger danger situation.

Yep. [ she would point him out and admit he's actually not a bad dude, but hey look who gives negative fucks about it at all. ] I don't get the whole pirate fantasy thing anyway. They don't shower.

So your trip was smelly on top of being stranger danger? Yikes.

It gets better. [ she spreads her hands. ] Giant rats! It was like the dirty, unfunny version of the Princess Bride without a friendly giant and no one would let me keep the dragon.

There was a dragon, too? Why would you want to keep it? Although, I guess that'd be kind of cool ... you could ride around on it and stuff. [she didn't get the cat-sized memo, ok.]

It feels like the training would be an awful lot of work ...
