It's over. After months of being sidelined by the trial of their friend Rafael, the Knights are finally free to return to England and see what headway the Dragon's Claws have made on discovering the location of the Talisman they seek.

But not everyone is so free to return. The consequence of getting Burt's assistance in disentangling Finnick from his contract and super-stardom was an ironclad agreement that allows Burt to sink his claws fully into Rafael's career. Considering that Burt knows their secret identity, non-disclosure agreement or not, the executive's renowned moral gray-itude doesn't exactly make it seem like a great plan to back out on the compromise.

They've at least been able to put off their goodbyes for a few days since the end of the trial, as Burt invited all of them to New York City for the opening of his brand new nightclub. Some of them flew out, while Archer and Des presumably drove their matching El Caminos cross-country in the days between. But now they've all met again in the Big Apple, for a celebration - and farewell of sorts.

[ luthir is staying with you, boo. he does not want anyone to mess with his style, which is completely archaic and may involve things like bracers that are totally legit for clubbing, right. right.

[ isabella, at least, recovers from her annoyance enough to start looking through dresses, imperiously pointing several out to make nickolai carry behind her to try on. katya pulls a few selections to offer to each of the other ladies, and gar waves her away when she holds out a dress to her. ] Oh no, that's... that's quite alright, thank you, but I won't be going tonight...

Gar, you can't just not go. Of all of us, you deserve to let loose the most for putting up with this craziness. [ mission boss, and all. buffy takes the offered white dress from katya, folding it over her arm. ] Come on.

[rationalizes]

Well, it's-- it's not really my, er... scene, that sort of thing...

Well, what is? Harvard?

I mean, c'mon Gar, when's the last time you did something straight up for fun?

[rationalizes]

I-- I have fun. I visited the library in Chicago during our down time - without doing any research on occasion. [ BE IMPRESSED ]

[ gar, you are the cutest thing ever. ] Listen to Buffy, Gar, you deserve the celebration.

[ she nudges luthir toward the rack of suits. if she has to pick out a dress, he has to pick something out too. ]

[rationalizes]

[ nooooo, she's surrounded. also luthir sighs inside and goes to comply. ] I'm still not certain... What would I even wear? [ she looks forlornly through a rack beside her, before yanking out a black ankle-length dress with long sleeves, no shape, and design elements that bring the word 'schoolmarm' to mind. ] I suppose this is alright...

[Des is disentangling himself from one of the sales associates who probably thinks he's cute... or because he's one of the few dicks in a sea of estrogen and she's desperate. Who knows.]

Maybe something that doesn't hit the floor, Marian. [He glances back at the girl who is trying to at least peel off his jacket so she can offer him an alternative.] Hey- hey. Watch the jacket, missy.

[shootfirst]

[ kat just laughs and rolls her eyes ] Ok, you drive a hard bargain, but I'll make you a deal.

You go tonight, no more arguments, wear something fun, and don't mention work once, and I'll-- [ give her a sec. she folds her arms decisively. ] I'll wear whatever Burt picks out.

[bigbad]

[Spike, meanwhile, is making faces at all the options because really, what's wrong with a t-shirt and jeans and a duster HE LOOKS GR8. He catches Kat's deal and smirks.]

Why not go all the way and let Archer choose?

Whoa now. Don't go crazy. [He drops his jacket on a nearby chair and lets the clerk fit him for a black suit jacket that makes him look hella fancy... or would if he were not wearing jeans.] She'll end up in pasties and a miniskirt.

Except Archer actually has good taste. Maybe he'll put you in a tactical turtleneck. [ just laying down on this poof now. ] Is there champagne and strawberries up in this place or is at just in Pretty Woman?

[rationalizes]

as kat makes a horrified face at the imagery, gar stifles a laugh and relents. ] Oh, very well. I suppose it can't hurt.

[ satisfied, katya gives her a few dresses and sends her packing into the dressing room, as kat looks mournfully in burt's direction across the store, where he has rafael trying on a white suit that is not him whatsoever. ]

[ he and buffy would match is that wonderful or awful. she glances across the store at rafael and then back at the dress in her hands and decides to go ahead and bring it into a dressing room anyway, shouting over the wall. ]

That's more like it!

I'd say wish me luck but I basically shot myself in the foot on this one so... [ she squares her shoulders... and marches off to go bother burt, as isabella emerges in a gorgeous red number. ]

[Hot damn. Spike had been vaguely watching Buffy choose her outfit, but when Isabella comes out, he turns towards her and grins appreciatively.]

[Des has finally been shoved into a dressing room to try on an entire suit and clearly the sales associate is just REALLY INVESTED in her job, because when he comes staggering out again with his tie undone, he looks a little startled.]

Honey, I'm flattered, but I can get it myself.

[He looks damn hot though]

Damn son. How are we all so pretty...? [ haha she is so glad though that no one is making her try the dress on because she don't wanna. ]

I suppose this will do. [ she looks at the price tag, which is like... nine-thousand dollars. and seems okay with that. ]

[rationalizes]

[ when gar comes out, she's wearing a blue-green low-cut number and katya has fussed her hair up and back. she's ushered in front of the mirror in her heels and stares at herself. ] ... Oh my.

[nothingsodivine]

[Des fusses with his tie a bit and looks up when Gar comes out, only to return to his tie, and then doubletake. Damn girl.]

Excuse me, ma'am, we seem to be missing our librarian- maybe you've seen her.

[Elena's eyes widen.]

Whoa.

[Gar looks hot. She's not even sure how to process this.

So she'll go...try on a few dresses instead.]

I should hardly think you have much room left to speak, Mr. Descant. [ it's been awhile since she's pulled that one out. let her enjoy it. ] It seems you clean up quite well after all. [ mark comes out behind her in a perfectly fit dark blue suit that looks hella fine, fixing the cuffs with an expert touch. ]

[ the hype brings buffy out of the dressing room, in the white dress she'd selected. her eyes grow large at the sight of gar. ] They're not kidding. You look amazing. We gotta do dress-up more often.
