The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ she tries to wrench her hand away because he's hurting her, but she can't, so instead she grabs his shoulder and looks over her own, calling desperately: ] What are you standing there for? Where's a cleric?

[ alanna returns from her tour with myri to find dumage shouting. what a pleasure. her eyes widen when she sees spike screaming and she immediately pushes through dancing couples to run to their side. ]

Mithros. [ she swears, reaching a hand out to touch spike as if to calm him. she isn't using magic yet, but turns to dumage. ] What happened? [ if there is anything magic about this shit that will kill a healer U BEST TELL HER NOW. which is a legitimate concern given that there's no blood. ]

[postergirl]

He simply started screaming. [ she shakes her head, agitated. ] We were just talking.

[ she does see fit to note: ] He's... he's a vampire, I don't know if that affects any of your whatever-you-will.

[bigbad]

[At least Spike has the presence of mind to let go of Dumage's poor hand, finally, but mostly only so he can hold onto his poor head with both hands.] Oh, bloody hell...

I-I've no idea if it does.

[ LUCKY SPIKE. alanna has never encountered a vampire before, and she looks considerably alarmed. but the obvious answer is to try healing him of whatever it is, so she rests her hands on him - one on his back, one on his upper arm - and lets her Gift flow out of her into him, purple energy emanating from her and pouring into him (cure moderate wounds +16 hp). ]

[bigbad]

[He lets out another scream of pain and glowers up at her.]

Don't they train you people at all? I'm a bloody vampire, holy magic hurts me!

Swell. If you're such a big bad vampire, perhaps you could stop screaming for a moment and tell me how it is I'm expected to help you if I don't know what's wrong.

[postergirl]

At least take him somewhere to... lie down or something. [ s-so demanding ]

[bigbad]

Just make the pain stop! [His head hurts too much for him to focus on talking.]

[ yeah, apple has probably figured out an app for that, but the great mother goddess that alanna worships certainly doesn't have a spell for it. alanna does have one foolproof method, tho ... she clocks spike with a right hook (atk 25, dmg ...4. which is not massive at all and will not knock him out like she'd hoped it might). ]

[ dumage's jaw drops open, and she grabs alanna by the shoulder to try to spin her around. ] What are you doing?

There's no magic to take his pain without knowing what causes it. He obviously can't be healed now, but if he's unconscious, at least he won't be feeling it.

[bigbad]

You're not knocking me unconscious. Not if that's the best you can hit. [Seriously, his damage reduction is higher than that.] Aren't there any competent clerics around?

[trebond]

You mean any vampire clerics? Bit of an oxymoron. [ she waves a hand at dumage. ] Take him to the Dragon's Light Wing. I'll phone Solace.

[postergirl]

[ the pain, at least, is finally beginning to subside (for now), and dumage just stares incredulously at alanna like who let you in here ]

Yes, I'm certain Solace will love to hear how his sect members believe their fists to be imbued with healing power these days.

[bigbad]

[Spike stands up, breathing hard, until he remembers he doesn't have to breathe at all. He grimaces and shoots Alanna a glare.]

I know what causes it. Usually, anyway. See?

[His fist lashes out and catches her full in the face (atk 25, dmg 14). Then the head pain starts again and he screams (dmg 2), grabbing his head again. But he manages to grit out words through the pain.]

Hitting... humans...

[ alanna's head turns with the blow and it sends her staggering because that is half her hp. if this weren't house rules, she'd be rolling a fort save right now because it's her con score. dick. ]

Then stop hitting people and let it wear off, you oaf. You'd think by now you would have learned not to do it.

Why does your head hurt when you hit humans? [ yeah dumage missed a lot in her year off ok ]

[bigbad]

Seriously? [He loves you, Dumage, but WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? He'll get to you in a moment. For now, he turns to Alanna and glares.]

You stop hitting people.

You're doing quite a good job of insuring I don't particularly feel like finding a solution for your particular resistance to healing magic.

[bigbad]

I know the solution. I need blood. And for my head not to explode for no reason.

Then, I suggest you go find blood elsewhere.

[postergirl]

[ dumage grabs him by the arm, and starts trying to pull him away ] Come along, darling. There should be some on tap somewhere.

[bigbad]

[He gives Alanna a dirty look but he lets Dumage pull him away.]

Really, that's the best cleric you could find?
