The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I know otherwise. [ her eyes flash in annoyance at even being questioned. ] How would you feel if someone accused your deepest sentiments of being fabrications?

[His mind flashes to Emma, for a moment. If anyone tried to tell him what he felt wasn't real, he'd probably stab them with his hook.] Awful. [But he shakes his head.] But I'd feel a lot worse if it turned out they were right.

[besmitten]

[ she makes a disgusted noise and tries to brush past him. ] I should have known. You're just like the rest.

[unhand]

[He catches her arm.] I'm not saying you are cursed, love. I don't know enough about curses or you to know one way or the other. I'm saying it's worth finding out for sure.

[besmitten]

Let. Go. Of me.

[unhand]

[He releases her arm, holding holding his up appeasingly.]

I'm just saying. Truth's worth finding out.

I know the truth. I don't need to do a suicide run to learn it.

Who said anything about a suicide run? That's a hell of a lot more drastic than I was thinking.

Lila has been entertaining foolish notions of returning to my people for answers. [ frown ] Do you have something different in mind?

[unhand]

Perhaps. But I don't know much about your curse... supposed curse, that is, or who might have cast it. Might help if you told me more about your people.

When'd this curse first pop up? Cant've always been there, right?

It was before I was born. During my father's time.

[unhand]

And has he told you anything about it?

[besmitten]

Stories. Fairy tales. [ she has a funny definition of fairy tales ] They say once, long ago, when we ruled Atlantis, one of our kind fell in love with a mortal and shared our secrets with them. He was punished, and our plight was a dying curse he levied against our kind, that drove us from our home.

[unhand]

[Atlantis was during her FATHER'S time?] Just how old are you?

[besmitten]

Ancient, by a human's standards. I was born in our city, however, after we had already relocated.

[unhand]

And no one ever told you more than the fairy tale version? [It seems like a bloody stupid way to run things.]

[besmitten]

That's all I've ever heard.

[unhand]

Are they even making any efforts to break the curse there? Avoidance is clearly far from a perfect solution.

[besmitten]

Of course they are. And in all this time, they've found nothing, which only goes to show you how much of a lie it all is.

[unhand]

So how do you explain your whirlwind romance? Love at first sight?

[besmitten]

Don't speak of it so dismissively.
