The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ the newest member of the knighthood looks like... a very hairy gnome, what do you want from him (disguise 11). he's not gonna wear a fancy suit, sorry. he's at least less smelly and dirty these days, now that he's not living in a cage full of goblin filth, so there's that.

he's also hella short, so... you might have to seek him out to find him. ]

[ omigosh look, it's your favorite princess! and lila actually looks happy to see her favorite gnomey mcscruffy. ] Look at you, a real squire.

[ he was very sad to learn she wasn't a princess ok. but it's become a running gag, he has a good sense of humor for a guy who was in prison for a year. so he'll give her a sweeping (tiny) bow. ] Your Highness is too kind.

[ she's a real princess in her eyes, alright. ] I really am. How were your adventures?

Promising. Found some more Sternshields lurking about, though I've had less luck locating any Timbers. The Church supported my joining up with you lot. Seemed a perfect opportunity to serve the Ironhand.

So I got about.... a third of that. [ wis 7, she is not up enough on her gnome friend's biz to know what the hell he is talking about. ]

Sternshields! Clerics of the God I serve. They call him the Ironhand.

Oh! [ she jots that down to google later. ] Cool. You look better. [ you know, better than immediately prior to being broken out of his goblin jail. ]

It's the trim, isn't it? [ his beard looks... the same size. wtf. ]

What did you trim? You still look like a homeless vagrant, you just smell a little better.

My hair! You can't tell the difference? Grows like weeds, it does.

[Max's attention is focused on his Gameboy, so he doesn't really see Erky down there. But Erky might see that Max is walking toward him and probably going to kick him without even noticing. So, watch out, Erky!]

[ yeah erky totally misses his approach, so the big dude slams right into him with his foot, and he nearly goes sprawling, letting out a yelp. ] Ay, watch where you're walking, friend!

[beatemup]

Huh! [He takes a moment to process. Did he just kick something? He scans the area near his feet.] Oh, hey, sorry, brother. Didn't quite see you down there. [Yeah, they're squire-brother. He squats down, so they can talk on the same eye level.]

Not the first time in my life it's happened. [ oh well. ] Briggard, was it?

Uhuh! But call me Max. Don't need to get formal with me. [Which you can see from his choice of garments.] You're Erky, right? Nice to be working with you, pal.

Max it is, then. And you've got it right - Erky Timbers, of the Timbers clan. Which may or may not exist in this world.

Sorry, never heard of it. Not a clan member myself. I think I am in one by default, but my father never really talked about it.

I take it your father was the orc? [ yeah he picked up on that shit ]

Half-orc actually. My grandpa was the one with pure orc blood in his vein. [And his grandma was actually a half-orc, so his father was more of a three quarter orc. But he'll hold that information so the little man won't be confused about how orc he is.]

Actually knew a few half-orcs in the old world who were handy in a pinch.

Of course! Half-orcs are the pride of both species. Quick witted and adaptable like humans. Strong and tough like orcs. [Racial pride, it is. His face makes that smug, full of vanity.] No one can get in our path.

So do you pay homage to your orcish deities or the human ones? Always curious, about that.
