Now officially Knighted, Vi exchanges her ceremonial armor for a wedding gown, and the guests head into London to gather at the Chelsea Physic Garden.  The evening is warm and clear, and the flowers in full bloom, chairs set up on the main lawn with name tags on them for people to find their seat.  Gentle Elvish music plays everyone in, and at the front of stands an arbor covered in wisteria.  It's a remarkably peaceful setting, enough to dispel further some of the grimness of the past few days and create an atmosphere of smiles and warmth.    It seems to reinforce what Luthir has been telling Vi all along: that maybe now more than ever, this is the sort of thing they need, in order to remember what they're all fighting for.

[ buffy pops up behind des, slipping her arm through his. she smiles up at him. ]

Got a minute?

[Oh, that distracts him, as Buffy's presence usually does, but not for the same reasons.]

I need to talk to you two too.

[Cause he definitely eavesdropped during the wedding and wtf was all that about.]

But I can wait my turn.

[He turns to give Zarad an all too predatory smirk.]

[ Des gives Spike a look that says, in no uncertain terms, that he better BE NICE or something. And then turns to Zarad. ]

Go easy on him.

[ And he'll just... go follow Buffy. ]

[fornicator]

[ zarad just grins, and turns said grin on spike, and it almost matches his own. ] I don't know. You don't look like the type who likes it easy.

[bigbad]

[THIS WON'T END TERRIBLY AT ALL.]

Never have been. But then again I don't reckon you'll be taking your boy's advice, now, will you?

[fornicator]

It was more of a friendly suggestion. We're not big on telling each other what to do. [ he nods at the dance floor ] So was that a yes?

[bigbad]

To dancing? [He had... not thought that was a serious offer. He considers it for a moment, then shrugs.]

Yeah, all right. Why not?

[fornicator]

[ he smirks and closes in, keeping a more or less respectable distance between them even as he takes spike's hand and settles his other at his waist. he'll keep it simple, alright. he saved all his fancy ass nat 20 moves for his boyfriend. he still got like a 30-something. ] That tends to be my general philosophy.

[bigbad]

[Spike's hands bump against his as he tries to go for the boy position and... ends up in the girl position. Fine, Zarad can lead. UM APPARENTLY SPIKE WAS SAVING HIS NAT 20 MOVES FOR ZARAD THOUGH BECAUSE WOW DID NOT EXPECT THAT ROLL. I guess he's really good at following no one expected that. Somewhere Dumage is jealous. Or proud cause of all the lessons. Maybe both.]

[ i'm not sure 'proud' is the word she'd jump to here, spike...

meanwhile, zarad is grinning widely at spike's ease in keeping up, and he seems to be greatly enjoying himself. in fact, he leans in with that rakish smile, voice dropping into an insinuative tone that's probably somewhat sexually confusing for spike. since he... rolled a 19 on his charm check, and his mods are absolutely un-fucking-godly. he makes francesca look awful at this. ]

A consummate scoundrel. Among many other titles. [ the teasing glint in his eye indicates that he knows that's... not what you were asking. and does not care. ]

[Yeah Spike got... less than that. His penis does not know what to do with this information. Luckily his feet apparently do cause damn they're just tearing up the dance floor.]

Funny. You don't smell like a scoundrel. [Good thing vampires don't breathe. He might sound weirdly breathless at that.] You smell like.... I don't know. A clear winter's day.

[fornicator]

Yeah? [ his grin widens slowly. ] Don't go spreading that around. I have a reputation to maintain.

[bigbad]

[Spike raises his eyebrows and smirks back.] Oh, I won't. People get uncomfortable when I talk about how people smell. Not my fault they're all so bloody smelly.

[A thoughtful look now.]

Not you, though. It's... strange.

[fornicator]

I suppose we have different definitions of strange.

[bigbad]

Same definition of evasive, though. [Eyebrow raise.]

[fornicator]

Well, that would be at Des' request. Apparently, he'd rather keep me as his man of mystery.

[bigbad]

He does enjoy being mysterious. [Spike scowls. Des and secrets. Still bloody aggravating.] Anyone ever told him he's a mite paranoid?

[fornicator]

It's only paranoia if he has no reason for it.

Can't say I've got a lot of faith in his judgment on what to keep secret and what to share, honestly. [Since he tends to err on the side of never telling anyone anything.]

[fornicator]

I take it you're the sort who's an open book.

[bigbad]

[He shrugs. Open book? Hard to say. More open than a lot of the team, at least.] I'm the sort that's figured out lying and secrets keep buggering us up more than it helps us.

[fornicator]

[ oh hey, song's over, so zarad will free you now, spike. ] Enjoy that clear conscience of yours. Not everyone can boast as much.

[bigbad]

Well, not remembering more than a few years of what was probably a fairly long [likely bloody] life helps with that. Lucky me.

From someone with a fairly long lifespan of his own who remembers every last detail of it all, I can assure you that you might be more fortunate than you can imagine.

From what I've seen, people who do remember wish they don't and those who don't wish they did. Seems like you can't win.
