Now officially Knighted, Vi exchanges her ceremonial armor for a wedding gown, and the guests head into London to gather at the Chelsea Physic Garden.  The evening is warm and clear, and the flowers in full bloom, chairs set up on the main lawn with name tags on them for people to find their seat.  Gentle Elvish music plays everyone in, and at the front of stands an arbor covered in wisteria.  It's a remarkably peaceful setting, enough to dispel further some of the grimness of the past few days and create an atmosphere of smiles and warmth.    It seems to reinforce what Luthir has been telling Vi all along: that maybe now more than ever, this is the sort of thing they need, in order to remember what they're all fighting for.

[ all of myri's friends have been so supportive since her return, that it makes it only stick out more that one of her very good friends has not even come to see her yet.

in fact, it's fair to say that he seems to have been actively avoiding her, which only seems evidenced further when he accidentally bumps into her at the party, turns and realizes who it is, and blanches entirely, gaping like a fish ] M-M-Myri.

[She's noticed. She isn't sure why he's avoiding her, but she hasn't sought him out. It confuses her and makes her wonder what she did, which is only made more obvious by the way she glances down when they collide.]

Sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going..

[ he freezes in place, tensing at the sad distance beneath her tone. ] No, it's--

[ he exhales, waving a hand ] I--

[witchwoman]

Hello. [She's cautious, like she's afraid of scaring him off.] Having fun?

[nosdacariad]

I, er -- [ he looks confused for a moment, as if WHY WOULD HE BE HAVING FUN then seems to remember it's a wedding. ]  Uh, yeah!  Lots of-- [ but his face sort of half crumples and he reaches out to awkwardly squeeze her shoulder ]  Myri, I--

[witchwoman]

[Her hand reaches up to rest against his, looking up at him with a reassuring smile.]

It's alright, Mark. Really.

[nosdacariad]

It's not. [ his forehead furrows as he tightens his grip on her hand ] I'm sorry. I should have come see you before now, but -- I've been so afraid to even face you, after how I-- This ... this should never have happened.

[witchwoman]

Mark... What could you possibly have to apologize for? None of this is your fault.

[nosdacariad]

Yeah, well it doesn't feel that way. It's not just about not noticing you were gone. It's that... it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

[witchwoman]

The choice to leave was mine. Please don't blame yourself for it. Of all people, you've played the smallest part in my pain.

[which is a difficult thing for her to admit because it's sort of like playing favorites with your children. But even though she worried about him, Mark did his part to keep it from her, from all of them. And in this case, it helped.]

I just--

I can't stand the thought of what he must have done to you, Myri.

[witchwoman]

So don't think about it. I certainly don't want to. [She can't help but think of it, though. Her mind wanders there in the quiet moments. And her dreams are still terrifying.]

[nosdacariad]

I don't know how to shut it off.

[witchwoman]

Mark... [She steps forward and hugs him, holding on tight.] I'm here now. That's what matters, isn't it? [She pulls back enough to look at him.]

I won't lie to you and say that he didn't hurt me. He did. But there's no way to undo it. There was no way for you to know what would happen. They made sure of that.

[nosdacariad]

[ he hugs her so so tightly, and when she pulls away he looks down ] I'll feel better once we get his head on a stick.

[witchwoman]

[Even when pulled back, Myri keeps her arms around his waist in a half hug.]

Me too.

[nosdacariad]

I promise you it'll happen. It's just... just a question of how long now.

[witchwoman]

Thank you. I know it will. I just hope it's soon.

[She just wants this to be over and assumes that she'll feel better once she knows he's dead.]

I don't blame any of you, though. I need you to know that.

[nosdacariad]

I don't remember saying I thought you did. The last thing I expected was for you to blame any of us, even if we did deserve it. That's just not you.

[witchwoman]

[She takes a breath to steady herself but it comes out shaky.]

Just not me. [Nevermind the choice of words, considering the doppelgänger situation.] I don't know if I'm that same person anymore, Mark. I don't know if I can be her again.

What he did to you might have made you more willing to do what you have to do. But I don't think for a second that it's changed the way you feel about the people who do care about you. Not at the core.

[witchwoman]

I may need you to be sure for me for now. [But she trusts him with that.]

I keep trying to pretend like nothing's wrong. I think I'm bad at it. [sorry mark. She doesn't feel like she can unload these things on many people. Guess it's your day for unexpected honesty.]

Dance with me? I won't have to talk to strangers that way.

Uh, yeah! Sure. Definitely. [ he offers her his arm all classy-like ]

[witchwoman]

[Her hand slips through to hold onto his arm, walking with him out to the dance floor. Once they've found a spot, she turns to face him and seems eerily comfortable, considering how uneasy she's been (dance nat 20).]

You know- this is the first wedding I've been to. [She didn't have friends before. And witchwoman don't really do the marriage thing usually.]

[ yeah well with his dance check of 6, she's the only one being graceful around here. which is funny, because he's usually pretty good at this shit. he seems more than a little distracted in his head. ] Is it?

It's the first I've been to since I joined the Knights, at least.
