In less than twenty-four hours, everything has turned on its head.

A Knight and her allies were kidnapped by Iscariot agents for execution in Rome, barely escaping with their lives.

A mission meant to free one Knight from the influence of a dark god succeeded - at the price of another's life.

A simple recon mission at a Keijen Blade concert nearly led to two Knights committing mind-controlled suicide in front of an eager crowd.

Several Knights went to see Draken Crombe, leader of the Church of the Lord's Humanity, speak in person, and learned just how sinister his religion's dogma is.

A call from Sir Hathaway alerted Wynn to the escape of the doppelganger from the Knight's dungeons, an escape perhaps aided by Elena Gilbert.

A demigod interrupted what might have been a simple smash and grab retrieval of an artifact.

And most horrific of all, in the middle of the night, hundreds of Shadowkind in New York City awoke, and walked in a mindless trance down to the Hudson River to drown themselves. Only the quick thinking and combined efforts of the Knights present and their allies prevented all of them from succeeding.

Beset on all sides, a dark time awaits for the Knighthood - who were already suffering from the capture of Dragon's Claw Sir Thomas Bancroft at the hands of their long time enemy Dimitris Sarandis of Andres Isle.

In times such as these, the light can be difficult to find. Hope itself seems somewhere just out of reach.

[ zzzz much sleep, many exhausted. eventually she wakes up with a jump, curling her fingers around the arm rests. yay nightmares. at least this time it wasn't god fueled. ] I hate sleeping.

[he pulls her close for a hug. shhh lil boo, it's ok.] I do too, sometimes. Other times it's all I want to do.

[ she sniffles, trying not to cry all over him. again. for like the thirtieth time. ] I don't even remember what decent sleep feels like. I used to love it. I could sleep for days.

Someday, you'll get to sleep again. Sleep and have good dreams. [however far away someday is ... it's probably not gonna be any time soon, even after their hakuna matata extermination, he knows that much.]

Maybe I'll just ask the clerics if they can put me in a medicated coma for like... five months. [ sound plan there, vi. ]

I doubt that's safe. And I'd miss you, besides.

I'll wait until you're on Andres. [ she shrugs, rubbing her forehead before leaning forward to grab her bag and pull out a bottle of ibuprofen. ]

I doubt we'll be there for five months, though.

You're ruining my plans, Fish. [ she takes a couple pills with her grape juice and tucks the bottle away. ]

I know, it's awfully selfish of me, wanting to have you around and not comatose. I'm the worst.

You are. [ her nose wrinkles like ugh. but she smiles a little, as finnick has that special touch. ] Luckily, you're pretty much the best at being the worst and the worst is pretty much all I want right now.

I'll be with you for however long you want me to be. [he rests his head against hers.] Until you feel like tossing me out.

Sounds good to me. [ and she's just going to curl up and use him as a pillow again as her headache fades. marble adonis = surprisingly good pillow. ]
