[She doesn't mean to pry, but she's also intensely curious about it anyone else has been put off by this man.]

I don't know him well. [She continues in a low voice.] But he doesn't seem very... nice.

[Myri responds with a wider smile and shakes her head.]

Sir Kat told me about them. I still have a hard time believing that this is not some youngling dragon that we are traveling within.

[witchwoman]

[She peers closer, always curious. After a moment, she comes around and takes the seat next to Kat.]

You keep magicians' secrets in this device?

[witchwoman]

[Concerned for his well being, Myrilandel places a hand lightly on his shoulder. It's so hard for her to determine what's wrong, as her gift is not telling her that he needs to be healed- but he is certainly acting oddly.]

Yeah, but you'd think it would develop with something tastier. Like a feast spell. Or a just like mom used to make spell.

He did to me. [ She sounds a little disappointed by the fact, sparing him a glance, then looking back at Myri. ] I -- I don't know, I mean, I always got hinky vibes, but he seemed nice enough that I just ... tried to get over it. [ She shrugged her shoulders. ] I didn't exactly think he'd -- [ She furrows her brow and purses her lips. ]

Hey, so you're from the Shadow place, right? So, you probably have vast acres of experience with the freaky and supernatural -- like, say, vampires. You know all about those, right?

[witchwoman]

[This now makes two people (the first being Spike) to assume that she's from the Shadow world. Myrilandel can certainly understand the assumption, but it makes her frustrated that she comes off that much more ignorant when she isn't aware of that world either.]

I'm afraid not. While it seems that a great deal of my home is much like that place, I've never heard of a vamp...ire before.

... Oh. [ She deflates a little at that. ] Right. Uh, just forget that I -- It's no biggie.

[witchwoman]

[Myri looks at her hands, feeling like a bit of a disappointment for not understanding. However, she knows that the only way to learn is to ask. And clearly the woman beside her wishes to discuss something, so she takes a breath and pushes away her insecurity.]

I have seen things that some of the others aren't used to. Magic seems to be a more common thing within the Knights, but I'm guessing that it isn't running rampant where you're from? And I'm certainly no stranger to knowing that things are not always as simple as they seem.

[Myri looks to Amaranth and gives him a little nod. She has to learn to trust these people, and while it will certainly be a slow process, she believes that opening up to Buffy may help in many ways. The large cat in Buffy's lap flexes and curves its back. The fur begins to ripple and move at either side of his spine. Slowly, two wings extend for the briefest moment, then retract back into flaps built into the animal's body.]

We can only learn from each other if we are willing to share.

[Annnnd Mark JUMPS at the contact, hands gripping the handle of his seat, as he yanks the headphones off and turns to stare at her wide-eyed]




... Oh. Hey. [/so awkward]

[She pulls her hand back quickly.]

You... appear to be having some sort of episode.

Epi-- huh? [He blinks a few times before looking down at the mp3 player in his lap, seeming more than a little lost.] I was just ... [ok, he's not sure how to define what he was just doing] ... jamming.

[witchwoman]

[His confusion is about the only thing she understands right now.]

You were making very strange noises. I was worried you were choking or ill in some way.

Well, yeah, I mean there are those things too. But they take a... better handle on the whole magical food conjuration thing.

Exactly. All my secrets locked up nice and tight. [She pats the side of the tablet] All the info's digital. Which is... really hard to explain, the more I think about it.

Is that a specialty? Can you be a ... magical food conjurer?

[witchwoman]

Learning to read and write is impressive enough. I'd considered joining the magician's university in Coronnan simply to be taught such a secret. The battlemages back home are not so quick to teach a witchwoman, though.

[That gets a bit of a smile, but it's mostly a token effort. He appreciates what Dumage is trying to do, but... it doesn't really make him feel better.] No, I reckon she won't. [He turns towards Dumage, done with Buffy's life for the moment.] Rather not talk about her, if it's all the same. I thought we were friends. We're not. End of story.

... Well, I for one am rather glad we're not riding around in a massive beast's intestinal tract. For a number of reasons.

Oh, that? [He looks relieved and laughs] No, I was just uh... you know, the beat of the song...

[He holds up the headphone end to her] You want to...?

How do you think they feed all those Knights every day?

Oh we will definitely getting on teaching you how to read, don't worry. I mean I'm not very much of a teacher, but if Gar gets time, she's really good at that kinda thing, I'm sure.

[witchwoman]

They say the Stargods came to my world in the belly of a dragon.

Still, it's the closest I've come to flight beyond my dreams.
