The first twenty-four hours of searching yielded no results, in the hunt for Elena and the escaped doppelganger Kyp.  Most consider it not worth keeping up the search when both of them are capable of vanishing into literally any crowd, but Wynn isn't so quick to give up.  To that end, he's hired monster hunter Dean Winchester to work with a special team in trying to track them down.  A few other Knights familiar with Elena are invited along to the mini briefing, where Wynn and Dean already wait.

On a scale of one to ten, one being like Brett... Or was it Brent?... Anyway, one being Joe the plumber civilian - and ten being something like that damned Dragon-Worm-thing from Chicago - how tough will it be to put down Houdini?

From what Sir Gar has told me about her own research, it would take some training to succeed at keeping them out of one's thoughts at all times. Otherwise, markings may be a good idea, given that they can only copy what they can see. However, if they hear any of you thinking about such a mark, they could add it... You see the problem.

If it comes to force, you should find it fairly simple to actually overpower him. Identifying him properly is the tricky part. Doppelgangers are slightly stronger and faster than humans, but not as much, say, as a vampire. [ a nod to damon ] Elena's own abilities will be far below what Kyp is capable of, particularly given that Sir Gar believed she may be only part-doppelganger.

Seriously? Everyone and their mom is going around here talking about you having two doppelgangers on your hands, and what you actually have is a doppelganger and a changeling. That changes everything.

Don't look at me, this is the first I've heard of it. [No really her Will Save of 7 means Rose's surprise and confusion is written all over her face.] How does this change things exactly?!

[ The veil eradicated all supernatural knowledge from Damon's noggin, at least in the sense that he can pull from it. With a will save of 14, his expression doesn't change. ] If we'd known she was a changeling, we would've said something.

Because if she's a changeling, she can likely only change a couple times a day, maybe even just once, depending on how long she's been training. If she changed to get the guy out of the castle, that means she was herself for the rest of the first day.

[ Damon's watched one too many police procedurals? Because his wisdom check is ridiculous for what that could mean ] Any chance our network of knights has access to traffic cameras around London? Some, state of the art facial recognition... something?. Is that a thing here?

I believe Dean is saying precisely that. And we don't have access to those cameras through any... authorized means, however, the Dragon's Hoard has specialists who can gain that access.

Then lets do this. I can go talk to whoever we need to talk to while everyone else gears up. [Because one should always trust the high strung girl who looks like she hasn't slept in two days to diplomatically ask somebody to break the law for them.]

[ With a will save of 12, Damon rolls his eyes, but doesn't provide any helpful commentary. Like, how he didn't know he'd signed up for Doppelganger class he's already researched. But, sure, he shifts comfortably, ready to listen to a lecture. ]

[Yep that succeeds in slowing Rose's ass down cause she sure was just getting up. (What is patience?!) Her knee goes back to bouncing and she turns her attention to the front of the room, showing how seriously she takes this when she doesn't take the opportunity to make a crack about a Lumberjacks convention.]

This is a bit unusual for me in that [it's not a serial killer] we're tracking someone who was already imprisoned. Kyp didn't care about the things he'd done, nor what could happen to him because of it. He didn't even think of them as crimes, really — just doing what was in his nature as a doppelganger. He has the behaviors of a textbook narcissist, but … slanted. Off. Inhuman. Understandably. I think being locked up was getting to him, just as it might anyone, but he wasn't making any attempts to escape.

Now, this is a person without any connections, except for Elena. He borrows the affections that belong to other people, then moves on as it suits him. Elena's family was here, and she obviously can't come back. I still think it stands to reason that he may try to contact his previous employers if resources that he can't get via simple identity theft become an issue.

[Rose looks a little surprised by what Will is saying, surprised and then maybe just quietly pleased (Look she's not used to getting stuff right okay ;; ) before speaking up.]

Do you think there's a chance he'll move on from Elena too? [A beat.] Or hurt her if she doesn't behave the way he wants her to?

[a bit grimly, because he knows this first part probably isn't what rose is going to want to hear] I think him moving on is … incredibly unlikely. Doppelgangers are rare. He probably viewed finding someone so much like himself akin to winning the lottery. And I don't know if he would physically hurt her. Guys like him, as I've come to understand him, tend to be more mental or emotional abusers. He would probably just manipulate her into complying with him.

[Rose manages to keep perfectly still at Will's response, offering only a nod in reply as she keeps her thoughts and feelings on his answer locked behind a steely mask. (Will Save Nat 20)] Got it.

[will notices damon's reaction (spot 33), but doesn't do anything besides make a mental note of it.] I'm saying he's similar to a textbook narcissist. I saw mentions of changelings when I was looking into doppelgangers, but I wouldn't consider myself well-versed. [knowledge: arcane lore 11]

But, I also read that doppelgangers fall more neutral. It's the "racial norm." [and then he'll just ... answer damon's question. he probably knows from his hella high gather info roll when he was profiling kyp???? if i have to make another, it's 15.] He was infiltrating the Knights, with the added bonus of ample opportunities to be close to Elena. [which he certainly took but even will graham has more tact than that. IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE.]

Changelings are still genetically similar to doppelgangers, since they're the children of one. Like he said, they're rare, and he might consider it the closest he's gonna find to a pureblood.
