Arrival in the city involved picking up any weapons or equipment that they had sent to meet them here and moving into their oh-so-fancy hotel rooms on the top floor. It consists of four adjoining rooms with a shared living room space and kitchenette. Each bedroom has two separate beds and roomies are:

Kat & Gar
Buffy & Myri
Martha & Dumage
Spike & Sven

Mark's agreed to sleep on the couch, since there aren't any spaces with five separate adjoining rooms available.

Gar's new job will begin on Monday, which gives the Knights the weekend to explore the city if they like, do research on the Hoffman Institute, scope out the Institute's campus, set up surveillance plans, or otherwise unwind before the real work starts. Feel free to start threads for anything, and use subject lines to denote which day it occurs on! Also don't be afraid to jack multiple people into threads, as now is a great time for some TEAM BUILDING 8) ... Try not to kill each other, in other words.]

If I wanted McDonald's, couldn't you just magic some up? [ Yeah, she can snipe right back. But, the pizza suggestion gets a smile. ] But I'm definitely preferring the pizza idea. There's gotta be a diner or something near by that has some, right? [ She gets to her feet, grabbing her coat. Yep, this is happening. ]

Probably just a GPS search away. [She grabs her leather jacket off the back of her chair at the table and then looks at Buffy over her shoulder] What about everybody else?

[slays]

[ She glances around for a moment, considering. ] You mean the few who haven't already started exploring the city for themselves? [ She shrugs, looking back at Kat. ] Something tells me they'll be okay. Besides, I was kind of hoping -- I mean, I wanted us to be able to talk.

[shootfirst]

[Well, that seems to intrigue Kat, at least. She shoots Buffy a look of curiosity, then with one look back at Gar's door, she swipes her phone off the table and heads out the door] Deal. As long as it's not about shoes. [She pulls one arm of her coat on, already searching on her phone with her free hand]

[slays]

No shoes. Although, you know, we wouldn't really be making the most of this trip unless we went shopping for some, would we? [ She stuffs her phone into her front pocket, pulling her coat on. She pulls her hair out from it and then grabs the door, holding it open for Kat. She's a gentleman like that. ]

[Kat moves past her, pausing to give her a skeptical look. Please, please, let that be a joke, Buffy...] I was thinking ammo store. But let's stick with pizza first and see how it pans out from there.

[slays]

Right. Pizza first, and then maybe we could ... come to some sort of shopping agreement. Like, I'll suffer through Sportsman's Warehouse if you humor my Jimmy Choo craving. [ Out the door they go! Buffy grabs a card key from the counter as she heads out and lets the door slam shut behind them. ]

[Kat heads towards the elevator, racing to hit the button first in a totally subtle manner. She turns and leans heavily against the wall to face Buffy, as they wait for it] Isn't that a sandwich restaurant?

[slays]

... It's a fashioner designer. Shoes. Sunglasses. ... Handbags? [ She raises her eyebrows. Oh my god she is repossessing your vagina. ]

[shootfirst]

You do realize most of those things could potentially slow you down in a real fight, right? [DING. Elevator time.]

[slay]

Would it necessarily be such a bad thing if I was slowed down? [ /wrists. /linkin park. /boo hoo i almost killed king arthur. A beat. ] Wow, that paved right over the happy girl's night out mood, didn't it?

[shootfirst]

We really need to teach you to embrace the girl power thing. [/irony of saying this to buffy the slayer of vampyres. she gets in the elevator and hits the first floor button, holding the 'close doors' thing when buffy gets in]

[slay]

Believe me. Girl power embraced. Girl power almost killing somebody is a little harder to get behind. [ She shakes her head, leaning against the back of the elevator once she's inside. ] I would be more than happy to put Arthur on his butt over and over again. But, not if I have to worry about whether or not he's gonna get back up.

If you don't learn how to deal with your strength, though, this is just gonna be something you have to worry about happening over and over again, right?

[slay]

I know. But, I'd like to learn about it in like ... a controlled environment. Population: me. Where nobody else is gonna get skewered by some stray superfreak Buffy slash.

[shootfirst]

You're allowed to practice on non-live targets too, you know.

[slay]

Which is exactly what I'm gonna do. Until I know I'm not gonna go all ... She-Ra on the next person I fight.

Hey, if they're a bad guy looking to decapitate your buddies? I don't think any of us would complain about the risk of you busting out the She-Ra action. [DING, the doors slide open]

[slays]

[ And out she heads into the lobby. She chuckles a little, tone wry. ] I'll keep that in mind if we come up against any baddies intent on chopping heads.

In this line of work? Wouldn't rule it out. [Annnnd she shoves her way out the doors of the lobby.]

Anybody ever tell you that you guys really suck at easing people into this? [ It's said with some levity to it, at least, and she's flouncing out of the hotel alongside Kat. ]

I never really saw the point in not just going full hog from the start. I mean, if we're going to be heroes, it's sort of a package deal with all the lethal danger stuff.

Maybe 'cause you'd have crazy high mortality rates among your squires? Well, that, and we'd probably screw up the missions real quick.

Actually, surprisingly few squires ever kick the bucket around here. It's usually the lifers, and it's really not as common as you'd think either. Plus, most of the time, they get rezzed anyway.
