[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule.   He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.    

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon.  Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.  

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands.  ]

And the fun just keeps on comin'.

[ Except then it says "help me," and Buffy's useless to resist. She shoots Myri and Des quick glances, then books it in the direction of the voice, axe ready. ]

[ mark follows, sword drawn, also making his save. the voice grows louder as they get near to another cell... where des would see a figure hunched in the shadows in the corner, curled together in such a ball that all that's visible are the bumps of their spine on their bare back from where they're curved in on themselves. ] Another prisoner.

[Will 23. Myri glances at Finnick and the others before following after Buffy and Mark, because they have to help. And if those two get hurt she's not going to dawdle.]

Should we..? [Free them? Is it safe to do that when they may turn the island upside down over the course of the night?]

I don't think we can do anything for them until Dimitris is out of power. [Des glances back at where they left Chad.] We don't wanna bring them into ground zero.

[ des' words cause the mental cry to become more plaintive, panic coursing through the voice as it says: "No! Please don't leave me! Don't leave me, don't leave me here in the dark!" mark's face crumbles a bit as he glances at the others. ] Maybe we can at least talk them down.

It's alright. [Myri can play torture victim whisperer for this leg of the mission. She steps up closer and tries to get a better look.] We're going to help you, all of you. But you're safer here for now. I promise we'll come back for you. Really. [diplomacy 32. apparently her voice is like a verbal hug.]

[ mark comes up behind her and squeezes her shoulder at her words, but the figure merely starts shaking violently, shaking its head, keening: "Please let me out! It hurts! It hurts!" ]

I don't like this. [Whether he means the situation or what's being done to the figure isn't clear in his tone, but given his pragmatism thus far...

Still he pushes ahead and leans down, trying to get between Myri and the danger this time. This one's slightly more pathetic than Chad and leaving it is going to be a lot harder.] What hurts? Myri's a cleric. She might be able to help.

[Yeah, sorry, Myri. If nothing else, she can spare a flower. Anything to stop the keening.]

This is crazy. [ Buffy looks around like aRE WE REALLY LEAVING THEM IN THE CELL. ] We can at least let them out.

[ Beelining for the cell to do just that. Speak now or forever hold your peace. ]

How do we know they won't be more of a danger to themselves out than in? What if they find more monsters like the ones we've already faced?

Considering who we've found in the last two cells, I'd kind of like to know who this is. [ just sayin'. meanwhile it shakes its head in response to des' comment. "It burns, it burns, it burns." ]

Just be careful, Blondie. We don't wanna fall into another trap.

[He straightens up and steps back. Do the thing, gurl.]

[ str 29. Off comes the door! ]

I'm a lot more worried about people than I am about traps.

[ And into the cell she goes, tossing the door aside and to the ground. She crouches beside the prisoner, reaching out gently. ]

What's your name?

[Archer got a nat 20, so he's strolling along just fine, but otherwise so not interested in another goddamned prisoner, especially on that comes with head voices.]

Yeah be careful, [He echos Des' sentiments...] it sounds like poverty don't let it touch you. [Maybe he mis-interpreted Des' intent just a little.]

[ mark affixes archer with a glare for the comment, just as Buffy steps inside, where the whistling seems louder, more insistent. As she takes a step, it abruptly looks up over its shoulder with glowing eyes, red like hellish flames. Its mouth is contorted in an o, the whistle coming from its lips as it springs to its feet, unfolding its horrible spindly body and unfolding its arms: which are actually long serrated blades. everyone but spike, Buffy, and des would find it hard to discern its features, as if it were cloaked in shadow - but everyone can see it...

Init! ]

[ Quick on the draw, Buffy's hand recoils. ]

Stay back! Don't come any closer!

[ That's for her friends—not a warning for the demon. Or whatever the hell it is. Demons don't get warnings. Her hand closes around her axe and she swings (atk 34, 25, 17 — dmg 27, 20, 24 respectively). ]

[This time, Myri listens. In fact, she backs up from the door, expecting Spike to barrel in. But he doesn't. Glancing back, she finally notices Spike and Gar frozen in fear. She moves over to them.]

Something's wrong. [She says to the others as she nears them.] Gar? Spike? What is it?

[ yeah gar and spike sure are being weird ... but myri has it under control (maybe), so finnick decides to play the take a shot but it's going to suck because ppl are in melee game again — ranged atk 17; 8 dmg if it hits.]

[rationalizes]

[ the demonic creature ducks away from buffy's final swing, though the first two land. its hide is surprisingly tough however, and the axe doesn't pierce through it, although it does seem to wound it. finnick's shot comes nowhere near it - it's just too fast.

gar is too busy stammering in fear, her eyes filled with terror as the eerie whistling continues. ]

Also, it looks like poverty. [Archer squints and levels his shotgun at it.] poverty and bath salts.

[Double tap from the shotgun, followed by heroic surge for a second barrage - because Archer may actually be able to be useful against this thing? We'll see.]

[I... I don't want to even type this. I rolled a 4 and a 5. This is the worst day ever. That's a whopping 11 and 12. 30 damage total, to fucking nothing. Archer is too sober to shoot.]

[Des looks surprised as the thing unfurls itself, and he does not stay back. He scowls and gets closer, putting himself as close to the thing as he can without being in the way of Buffy's axe.]

What was that I said about a trap? [He fires a shot at it. (atk 23, dmg 20)]

[ ♬ the wretched - nine inch nails

it takes des' shot to the side of its head, which whips sideways, evoking a hiss. the monster takes a step in between them and whips out its armspikes, one at buffy - the other at des. each arm strikes - and impales them both right through, serrated spikes speared through their sides (atk 32, dmg 13 and atk 27, dmg 8). to move away 5 feet, they'll take damage yanking themselves off the things. the fighting style is incredibly familiar to buffy, complete with arm spikes... it clacks its teeth together, staring at buffy with blood red eyes as it laughs cruelly and says in a raspy, horrible voice: "You kill me and you will merely free me! Fool!" triumph rings in its words, and mark continues to hesitate, unsure what the fuck is happening right now. ]
