[  The communications tower team is two-fold, but they'll be traveling together to the Isle via a greater teleport scroll as well.  The larger group arrives at the outskirts of the wood, and it's easy enough to spot the giant tower, not far off down the road.  Night is falling, and they're shaded from the empty road at the moment by the tree line they're close to.   Lis'sa looks irritated by the method of travel, checking over her supplies before confirming for them that they've landed on target.  Zero hoists his laptop case onto his shoulder, as Aurelius pats himself down, obviously afraid of missing body parts from the jaunt. ]

How is..? [Faye turns to look at the sorry excuse for a cleric that shows up. Aca-scuse me? This is not the healer she ordered. She would like a refund for store credit.]

Her squire. [ and he kneels down at her side, laying one hand against her neck (+18 hp) ]

What do you think you're-?! [Oh, he's doing the healing thing. Faye settles down.] Just don't make her worse.

[grumble grumble protective grumble.]

At 17 hp, Emma coughs, returning to consciousness. Harsh and jarring, the movement shakes her whole chest, and her shoulders as well. She leans forward, eyes wide, glancing around sharply. Realizing that the battle's over, she relaxes, but only slightly. The bullet wound clearly still racks her body. ]

… Erky? [ She looks between the four of them, baffled. ] What happened?

[bittersweeter]

You got shot. Jordon stopped the bleeding. With a tampon. The flock of nerds took down the island's communications while you were out, so we've got that sorted. [ looking pale and tremulous, she gives emma the ghost of a smile, keeping her tone even and light. no big deal. nope. not at all. emma was just shot right in front of her, it's fine. ] Erky healed you, so if you have flashbacks to Scotland, that's why. You're not allowed to go first around corners anymore.

[uncurse]

[ Her mind catches up—right before she'd gone down. Watching him pull the trigger. Her hand raises and compresses over her wound. Pulling her hand away from her chest, she looks down at it, grimacing at the severity of it now that she can see the blood. ]

Shit.

[ Noting the cotton string, she pulls the tampon free. Erky's spell did enough for the bleeding to be stopped on its own, and she throws what amounted to a bullet wound cork aside. Steadily, she starts trying to get to her feet. ]

Kate and the others are still outside, right? We've gotta find a place to stuff the guards before they come to. Hold the line until it's all over.

[Faye's quiet for the whole exchange, forever uncertain with how to deal with her emotions when it comes to Emma being in mortal peril. Maybe stop dying all the time Emma. Jesus.]

This place has to have a janitor closet, right?

[ Jordan has a place to hide the guards, a place they wouldn't be able to get out of by themselves. Unfortunately that place ce was now securely nestled in Fayes bag :/.

He moves the towel from Emma's middle, grimacing at how saturated it was and having no place to hide it, he looks around for a nearby garbage can. Locating one, he moves that way, stuffing the linen as far down as possible. He can feel Faye at his back, feel the pull of his bottle in her bag like a magnet drawn to metal.

He turns back just as Emma stands. At Fayes question he turns blazing eyes to her once more. ] I think I saw one when we came in.

She looks between Jordan and Faye and the tension there, confusion furrowing her brow. With no way to tell what it is, she just ascribes it to the tension of the mission and files it away for later. ]

Great. We can drag them that way and head back out to join the others. Did you get the chance to search the building for anyone we hadn't already dealt with?

[bittersweeter]

Drag. [ she scoffs lightly, almost a laugh, as she crouches down to touch the guards one by one, hitting them with her somnambulism. none of the knights need to be dragging anything anywhere, thank you, they can sleepwalk their damn selves to whichever closet lila directs them. she winces the tiniest bit as her headache increases, pallor waxing. (fort saves 14, 16, 10) she says nothing more about the dragging though, choosing to think the sleepwalking guards will make her point. moving on. ]

Someone should stay with the geek squad. They'll be fielding whatever, if any, calls come in, so they can't exactly leave. And you -- [ she points at emma. ] -- should probably rest a little longer.

[ she was tampon plugged. lila does not think she should be up and around and fighting rogue guards. ]

[Well look at them go. Faye just gives Lila a quick smirk because yay no dragging. She does notice the wince and the way her complexion isn't quite right (spot 22).]

You don't look so hot yourself.

You and Emma can babysit the nerds while Jordan and I check out the rest of the place.

[She wants a bit more one on one time with her new genie friend. And she trusts that Lila and Emma will keep each other safe. It's win/win.]

[ To Faye, that is. ]

Go. Get a look around, check every inch of this place. I don't want any surprises.

[ To Erky, she adds, ]

You don't have to stick around if you don't want to. I have a feeling we won't be the only ones in need of a hand now that we've got the tower.

Do you think that was enough? I can fix you up a little more before I go if...

[ She opens her mouth to refuse, but looks at Faye and Lila. Who may murder her themselves if she does something stupid like that again. Reluctantly, she holds a hand out to Erky. ]

Yeah, okay.

[sternshield]

[ wow there's a whole... 4 from that cure light wounds. he tries. ] Hopefully you'll be out of the line of fire here.

[ lila nods once, casting a brief glance at faye. maybe they'll have some bff telepathy sprout, but it's easy to roughly translate the look to "if you die, i'll murder you" -- same one emma would have gotten if she hadn't given in and been healed again. jordan is spared only a cursory glance. he stabilized emma so he is aces, but lila has neverending faith in faye and that does not extend to many other people. clearly if push comes to shove, faye will be rescuing his damselling butt. no contest. no offense jordan, it's just #family.

putting her hand on emma's arm, she steers her toward the right direction, simultaneously casting mage armor because emma OBVIOUSLY NEEDS IT WOW. ] Text if you need me. Us.

Or call the Andres version of 911, we'll still pick up.

Or just shout really loud.

[ After all, they'll be in the same building still. She fixes Lila with a somewhat amused look, trying to offer some levity. With one last glance over her shoulder at the others, she shrugs off Lila's touch and starts trudging toward the communications center to watch over the geeks. ]

[Faye is on Lila's wavelength, per usual (wis 19) and just nods.]

Got it. [Waiting until they're out of earshot, Faye glances over at Jordan.]

You didn't tell them. Was that just because I told you not to?

[Jordan is quiet as they talk, eyes never leaving Fayes face for more than a few moments at a time. When they split to search for more guards he hardly glances at his other teammates, glowing eyes trained on the hall ahead. At her question he slows, eyes seeming to drag to her face nearly against his will. He can feel the compulsion to answer in the back of his throat, working toward his lips and through before he can stop himself (will save:12 )]

How long has it been? Since you had a master?

[Just going to casually get some information from him since she knows he has to answer.]

What's it like? Really.

[ a look of frustration crosses his features as he focuses on the hall once more, a hand coming up to scratch the back of his head.] You are the first mortal to ever hold my bottle. I've never had a master before now, in all my life.

[ his voice is strained as he talks, the lines around his mouth more defined as he pauses, clearly taking his time in thinking over his choice of words. ] It feels as though there is a magnet between the two of us, a pull from you to me [ and as he speaks she would begin to feel this same strange pull nestled in the left side of her chest and feeling the echo of it residing in the left of his] like a ribbon tied from rib to rib. An anchor, weighing down my heart.

[ his eyes find hers finally. ] That is how it feels.

[If Faye could remember anything about where she came from, she would recall a strange legend about silver cords linking people heart to heart, drawing them together. But not like this, not like a chain or a burden. It was the mark of soulmates, people destined to be together.

But it might explain why she doesn't necessarily see what he's saying is a bad thing.]

I'm your first? [Now is not the time to joke, but Faye is still a pretty terrible person (if you didn't pick that up from the way she's currently enslaving the genie).] Would it help if I promise to be gentle?

[the look he gives her screams of incredulity, like "r u srsly making jokes about my freedom rn??"

After a moment he lets out a quick breath, ignoring the insinuation of her words as he answers her questions, as he must.] Yes, you are my first "master."

[A strange look crosses his features as he seems to contemplate her offer 'to be gentle'.[] Would you really make such a promise, and keep it?

[She looks at him for a long time, trying to decide what the answer to that question really is. She's never been gentle. She's never been kind. But could she really be cruel?

Maybe the hesitation speaks for itself. She moves her bag, holding onto it with both hands.]

[Her fidgeting draws his eyes to her pack where they stay for a pregnant moment. At her continued silence they drift up once more to settle on her features, seeming to search for some hint as to her thoughts. He seems to find the answer to his question there, a look of knowing disappointment coming to his face.

Clearing his throat, eyes falling away from Faye once more he nods.] Ah. I see.
