[ Having spent months scrying on areas of the Island scouted out by Sir Bancroft and Sir Chessing, Hasmed is able to send a few groups to the Island via greater teleport spells, with a fairly small margin for error, as to where they're going to land. The Shadowkind prison teams land flawlessly, and the very big group appears in a clearing in the middle of the woods, abruptly finding themselves surrounded by trees and mostly darkness. The moon is in its last quarter, and with the trees so thick above them, there are only patches of light that filter down here and there. Those with darkvision or lowlight vision can see perfectly, but anyone with normal vision may find themselves squinting to see much of anything.

The teleport spell only works if the entire group is physically connected, so when they arrive, Wolverine yanks his hand off Nathan's shoulder, and gives Drax a Look like stop touching me if you value your hand. Eric runs his Drakenet app to determine their location, then announces: "Dead on." In other words, no spell mishap sending them miles off target. Beside them all, Lan's mount, Daisy, stamps her feet slightly, obviously unnerved by the magic. He whispers "Whoa, there" and reins her in, causing her to settle. ]

[Oh hi, Drax. Rocket would be glad you're back, but he's too busy looking like he might have a furry aneurysm.... But somehow Nathan's... astounding logic snaps him vaguely out of his berserker rage.]

The moron has a point. [He looks at Nathan like wow wtf you had a good point. Seriously.] Maybe you should've thought more about your families before you decided to work for a scumbag like Sarandis.

[He steps forward, leveling his gun at the scientists Logan's not currently threatening.] And the funny thing is... You're the ones who coulda done something. All the Shadowkind you've got leashed, all the brains you lot have... I got outta this place with just my wits- what d'you think you could have done? But you didn't try, 'cause it was easier to sit back and take orders and who really cares about a buncha dumb creatures, anyway?

[He looks like he's about to take aim them and then he hesitates for a second and lowers his weapon, all the rage going out of him as something strikes him.] Killin' 'em here's too easy. They need to face what they did. [He lowers his gun, scowling as he looks away.] And give the poor bastards in the cells the satisfaction I never got.

[Or at least doesn't remember getting.] They're the victims here. They deserve a say.

[ logan doesn't look like his rage is abating any. but he does hear rocket's words and while there's a tense moment where he looks ready to drive his claws through the guy's throat, he finally lowers and retracts them, letting go of the guy with a rough shove backwards. ] Looks like it's your lucky day.

[ he glances back at the others behind the scientist, and snorts. ] For now. [ he gestures backwards with his head ] Til we're done, we oughta lock 'em up.

[beatupgrass]

Yeah, but one of 'em comes with us. It'll be faster if I don't have to hack everything. [He gives the almost-crying lady a onceover.] You. With the waterworks. Out.

Let's find the damn prisoners. [ weeping lady curbs that shit, changing it into an angry glare at the others who don't have to do anything but sit in a cell and wait for judgment day x( logan goes and busts open the door to their hide-y room, and grabs scientist guy again. ] Keys. [ sure enough, dude has cell keys on him, and logan hauls his ass towards the door, assuming the rest will follow. they hesitate, looking at the murderous group, but decide it's better than disobeying, and head back into the hall, to get herded into the cell logan opens for them. ]

[Rocket keeps his gun trained on the lady, nodding at Drax without taking his eyes off her.] If she does anything stupid, smash her skull in.

[And he's just gonna herd her out into the hall too so she can come with them. Yaaay teamwork.]

Things'll go better for you if you show us right where the prisoners are. [ logan's scary and all y'all are psycho, so she nods and gestures to a stairwell that leads back down on this side of the building.

"Right down there." ]

Home, sweet cellblock. [Rocket flattens his ears against his skull and scowls, urging the lady forward. It's pretty easy when he's like... right under her heels.] As bad as you feel now, just imagine what it's been like for them.

[Us, though he's trying his hardest not to victimize himself. He's suffered this before, endured enough that it's familiar- compared to the ones who weren't born into cruelty and experiments. That still doesn't make his itchy trigger finger less itchy.] You don't have a clue what it's like to be unmade.

[ the stairs bottom out at a locked door, and she scrabbles for a key under logan's intimidating gaze. Opening it reveals a long row of only too familiar cells. Wolverine glances at rocket for confirmation. ]

[beatupgrass]

[Rocket's uncomfortable look- though nowhere near the despair at seeing the lab- confirms everything. He hefts his gun, abandoning keeping it turned on the hostage, and steps closer so that he's right beside Logan.]

That's it. [His uncomfortable look becomes one of almost genuine glee as he calls out:] Guess who decided to come back.

[Faith has seen her own fair share of people who "think they know better" when it comes to things they don't understand, so the moment the lab is revealed she loses any compassion she might have had hiding in a corner of herself and figures they deserve whatever it is they get in the end.

She's still following along, though, and pretty sure that she doesn't have much commentary to add to anything else that's been said.]

[ if he was expecting a rousing response, he's pretty let down. most of the prisoners here are too terrified to risk drawing attention to themselves, although a few curious faces press forward to the bars. logan moves forward, claws extended, and he's just going to re-enact that scene from wolverine origins so that we can put it in the next video. you know the one.

[tbh he wasn't expecting anything shy of acknowledging they're not all dead so what little reaction he gets is worth it.

He strolls in, shooting Drax a look to keep an eye on their ladyfriend and follows behind Logan.]

Why'd you even bother gettin' the keys if you were gonna show off. [whatever it's super effective and also faster so yaay.

Anyway. There's definitely another change that comes over Rocket as he steps towards the cells, urging them out. He's not making a big deal of his emotions, but it's definitely clear he has feelings for these poor Shadowkind. Two months isn't very long, but a lifetime of having no one who has been what you've been through will make anyone warm significantly. ]

C'mon. We gotta move.

[with a wis 16.... nathan finally recognizes rocket's ptsd apparently. and doesn't ask him if he needs to shit again.] Jesus christ, I'd hate to be one of those bastards.

[ as they slowly start to tentatively emerge, logan pushes his way back towards the others. there's a wide variety of ages and races represented, but all of them have some kind of haunted look in their eyes. rocket would notice the bat moreau eebo still hunched in the back of his cell, rocking back and forth, peering out distrustfully.

as logan makes it back to nathan's side, he would see at the far end of the hall, four soldiers suddenly emerge. one of them grabs a prisoner coming out of a cell, and pulls their gun up to their neck, shouting: "NOBODY MOVE!" ]

[Eebo's cell is the one Rocket's hunting for and he's in the process of trying to coax him out as... gently as he possibly can, which really isn't all that gentle, but definitely involves fewer insults than normal. He whips around, his grip on his gun tightening, but he keeps it lowered. Even still, he's snarling. This is Not Good.]

We mowed down all your buddies outside, jackass. Do you really think you're gonna have better luck?

[ logan turns around, claws extending, but stays where's he at, next to nathan, glaring at the soldiers.

the one holding the prisoner snarls right back at rocket. "Maybe not. But you really wanna risk that and lose Lord knows how many of these people in the process?" ]

[Rocket's ears flatten all the way down to his skull, because he is an animal and this is what animals do when they're upset and frightened and he is not exactly in a fit state to tell those instincts to go sit in a corner. That low growling noise doesn't exactly do anything to help it.]

Yeah, and how many people are gonna walk out if we just give in? You ain't gonna let anyone walk.

[ "Maybe nobody's gonna walk - but nobody has to die, either."

logan snorts, disgust curling his lip as he raises his claws. ] That supposed to be better?

[Rocket tenses, but he got all of his little moments of weakness out with the scientists. These are the people he doesn't want to see him crack. Like hell if they need to know how badly being stuck back in here would mess with him.

Also man, where the hell is Quill. Lessening the tension is his job.]

So basically gruesome torture or death. Hell, sounds like no contest to me.

[what if nathan .... slides so that he is somewhat obscured behind wolverine. HE NEEDS A SHIELD OK.]

[ as all this is going on, a single little figure slinks out of the cell at the far end, no more than a tiny blur between everyone's legs. it slips easily next to the soldier who isn't bothering to look down... and bites down hard on its ankle. he lets out a curse, his grip slackening for a moment - annnnd we're gonna roll for init ]

[WHELP. That's all Rocket needs. He takes aim at the guard who's been talking and fires off a burst fire round at him. (atk 25 - 4 for burst fire = atk 21, so 25 dmg if that hits. penetration~]

[spinerip]

[Yeah guard guy probably shouldn't have spent all that time talking because it means he's #1 on everyone's to-kill list. Drax lets out a roar of rage and violence and runs at him, slamming his fist at the guard's stupid face (atk 23, dmg 10).]

[ both of them hit the guard, buuuut he's still so very up. he gives up on trying to worry about the prisoner b/c drax is there and huge and awful so he yells: ] Take 'em down! [ steps back five feet and unloads bullets into drax's face, or tries to (atk 21; atk 12; 8 dmg from the one that hits).

the other three guards yank up their own weapons and start filling the hall with bullets as well. one of them also focuses on drax (atk nat 20; atk 18: 12 dmg for the crit), another at rocket (crit fail as he accidentally hits one of the prisoners milling about between them ;; his second shot going wild), and the third at logan (ANOTHER CRIT FAIL as that guy's gun jams) ]
