[ The two groups tasked to deal with the denizens of the Shadow Village arrive on the bank of the river that bisects the capitol city of Andres in half.  The river slopes down from the woods and city around it, meaning that they're afforded a bit of concealment here, unless anyone stood at the top and looked down.  At this hour of the night, however, there's no one around.   Dovan grumbles a bit about 'blasted magic' as they shake off the disorienting sense of vertigo, while Koraith waits for Belle to confirm they've arrived in the right place.  She pats Gold on the arm as she pulls out her phone, and moments later, she nods to the others in confirmation.

The water laps gently nearby against the rocks, and in the distance, a bridge is visible that links the segregated Shadow village with its thatched roof houses, to the city proper, which seems lined with wealthy manor homes.  ]

[ Matt has taken a knife-sword-thing from Oprah over there and he swishes it around in his hand a bit, trying to look cool. He's never used a sword. ]

You know those films you watch where you shout at the screen because everyone is being stupid and about to get themselves killed? Think we might actually be in one of those.

They don't always work out as badly as you think.

[David's entire life has been one of those moments. You can hear it in his voice as he says it, with a nonchalance that is probably kind of scary to everyone else who happens to know nothing about his life, but hey at least he's calm.

And also going to gently move over to correct Matt's form. He's picking up on the inexperience (sense motive 19) and while he can't make you a master swordsmen in five minutes he can at least make sure you don't stab yourself.

To Koriath:]

Want me to check in with Dovan and see if he can spare some bodies down here?

[Probably not but since Dovan is ... technically his mission leader, he should probably find out what he wants him to do.]

Not a bad idea.

[ he nods to lydia as well ] Sir Ellison will stay here with those who've been armed, to help defend them against any attacks. I'll be accompanying the group towards the boats. The rest of you may decide whether you'll stay or go.

[And with that nod he will step away to text Dovan and hopefully they're not super busy killing people or something? He'll be over here, with his phone.]

[Stiles slowly turns to Lydia because he's fucking whipped even without dating her. Stay or go, baby?]

[ Go, baby, go. In fact, she doesn't really wait for him to indicate that he's going with her. She reaches out, grabbing his wrist, and pulling him along with her towards the boat group. ]

Let's get them somewhere safe. [ She says to Koraith, intent. ]

[If they hadn't found Indra, Grimrot probably would have been going with the boat group, but she's just so excited to have someone here she knows so she's staying. #lesbians....]

Sir Whittemore? [ the gold dragon turns to question the squire, even as nyna looks at matt. "You're staying then." she sounds a little pleased by this, even if she looks amused at the way he's flailing that sword around. ]

I'm staying.

[ Mostly because he's mad at Lydia for dragging Stiles off and ill-advised violence seems like a great way to blow off steam. He pointedly ignores the other teens as he says it, moving over to take a sword from the pile. ]

Very well. The rest of us should make haste to the boats, then. Good luck here. [ he gives a solemn nods to tia and the others. ] Stand strong.

[And David comes back to Tia and turns to the rest with a nod.]

You too. Dovan's team on his way here, so we should be fine.

[And this his more pointedly in Stiles's direction, but he means it to the group as a whole.]

[Stiles gives David a brief nod and glances to Lydia, giving her his best attempt at an optimistic smile.]

Guess we should get moving. [He directs that more to Koraith. He's following the half-dragon's lead for sure here.]

[ indra watches them go out the window, before turning back, hefting her weapon in hand. she looks from her friend grimrot to jackson and tia, frowning. ] And you are... practiced warriors? [ she sounds a little skeptical about that ]

[grimrot]

Of course they are! We're part of a noble knighthood. They wouldn't be here if they couldn't handle themselves. [She shoots them a look that clearly says don't embarrass me in front of my friend.]

[thoughtless]

[ did you mean your hot friend. also sorry, probably going to be embarrassing. ] I know how to fight.

[bloodrager]

[ her gaze skates up and down him, her eyes an unnaturally bright blue. ] Good. What do you wield?

[thoughtless]

[ about that. he considers the sword he's holding, then meets her eyes, brows raising in a flippant expression. ]

I'm a werewolf.

[ more like baby werewolf, but that doesn't sound as impressive. actually he doesn't even know if werewolves are impressive around here?? ]

A werewolf. [ surprise lilts in her voice, and she blinks once, raising an eyebrow, cautious at first, but then her lips curve up the tiniest bit, as she looks to grimrot. ] Now that I'd like to see.

[generaldavideus]

[David did not know that about Jackson. Duly noted. But he can't help the smirk at Indra's reaction. Hopefully Jackson's ready to deliver.]

Sir Ellison is also the head of one of our sects. You're in good hands.

[HIIII GUYS. Bridge team's back + Belle and Gold (and Milah) who just interloped.]

The bridge is secured for the time being, but that isn't going to last. Our new friends- [he points to the prisoners. idk who brought them in, but they're here]- were kind enough to inform us that they've dispatched clockwork soldiers to the village.

[He expects that will mean something to the villagers.]

[grimrot]

Clockwork soldiers? How fascinating! I wonder how they work. [Is this not the reaction we're supposed to have because Grimrot's pretty sure this is going to be very exciting and interesting.]

I think we're going to find out firsthand. [ she looks to dovan as he enters, follows by the others ] They might be here in the city already. They'll likely try to surround us here. What do you think we should do?

[ironsides]

We've a good defensible position here in the temple. 'Course that means they might try to surround us, and with few exits, we're all but bottlenecked if they just wait us out. We might do well drawing their attention to the front, having some of ours already in the courtyard outside, ready to fight, and then sending some out the back to come around and flank 'em - try to surround them instead.

Otherwise, we try to draw them inside and cut them down as they enter. Might make for fighting less of 'em at a time. [ he nods to gold ] Sorcerer on the roof raining spells down's not a bad idea, either.

[ he glances across the gathered, and settles his gaze on david ] What do you think, lad? Lan says you've a head for battle tactics, and I could use a second opinion.

[David nods as he turns to glance around the rest of the building, looking at what they've got.]

We definitely don't want them getting behind us. If we've got enough people here to pin them in the front of the temple so that people can slip out the back, that wouldn't be a bad plan.

[He turns and gestures to the sides of the building.]

I'd put more people on the sides, to keep them in the front. If the only way they have to go is in the temple, through us, then it keeps the back clear and we can thin the line for the fighters inside.

[He glances to Gold, then up the roof.]

And yeah, I'd definitely put the magic users on the roof. It'll make them harder to get to and give them more room to work.

[He looks to some of the other villagers who are fighting.]
