The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ nyna's disguise check is a 5 b/c she hasn't changed out of her armor yet tbh. she didn't... realize you were supposed to. or maybe she's just proud to have it on. fight her.

she's keeping an eye on things from the wall by the doors that lead out to the balcony, occasionally heading out for some air. ]

[Carol notices the armor and wanders over, raising an eyebrow. She doesn't exactly judge, but it's unusual. Most people can't wait to take it off.]

Didn't feel like changing?

Aren't I supposed to take pride in my new position?

Sure, but... [She shrugs, glancing around the room.] Most people showed off their pride with fancy dresses. [A beat.] Not that there's anything wrong with wearing your armor. It's just different.

Fancy dresses are more my sister's style.

Is she here too?

She's not really the Knight type. She stayed on Andres.

Yeah? Hard to imagine people would want that if half of what I've heard is true. There must be a lot of bad memories floating around there.

Maybe they like the idea of taking something back for themselves, turning something bad into something good.

That, or they're just stubborn. [She grins.] Regardless, it's good to have you on board.

Everyone has been very welcoming. Although I'd feel more welcome if someone would direct me to the fey wine stores.

....yeah, I'm not the person to ask. [Carol's a former addict. She's not going anywhere near the extra hard stuff.] But I'm sure someone around here can show you. Try asking the raccoon.

[Her mentor was about to be not much better - although he wouldn't have had the excuse of armor to wear. The dice had it out for his appearance at this particular party, but thankfully a friend was looking out for him through about five outfits until he came out with something decent (disguise 11).

David won't judge her for keeping it on, though - straight up wearing armor is far less complicated than actually having to make fashion choices. David, clearly, is not that good at that considering his previous rolls before that were 3, 4, 4 and 4.]

Definitely an impressive stronghold.

It is. And probably the most comfortable one I've ever lived in too.

[He nods a bit.]

As a Knight, then?

Knight ... probably isn't the right word.

[Knights =/= Vikings and there are few Vikings that would probably be insulted to be considered such.]

Marauders is probably closer. We didn't have a set liege so much as trying to help a lot of people as best we can.

Maruader's a strange word for a group that cares about helping others.

We were a strange bunch. And the people actually responsible for them weren't doing much to protect them, so someone had to.

And you were successful?

We ... gave them better chances than they had before. That world was a bit of a lost cause. There wasn't any saving it there was just ... slowing the end.
